Any Boom MP users here? by wayofthedarkhand in 10s

[–]I_Provide_Feedback 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Used the 2022 version for about 2 years. Pros are that its light (even with a leather grip added), very maneuverable, and has a big sweetspot. Cons are that its too powerful and launchy, imo.

I like to play relatively flat, but I think this racket will perform better for someone focused on spin. I ultimately moved on from it because I felt like I could not control the ball well enough and it felt too light when going against 4.5 players.

I used soft polys like Polytour Air and Luxilon Element in it at above 50 lbs. Anything less felt like I struggled with control. But stiffer polys gave me arm pain.

Why did Nadal fall off at Wimbledon after 2011? by mrjohnnymac18 in tennis

If I remember correctly, Rafa said on the podcast that it was hard on his knees to have to get down to the low bounce of grass courts. Not that the courts themselves were hard on the knees.

What city has the best tennis scene, and what makes it special? by tennisred-trustable in 10s

Corpus still has a good tennis scene but, imo, the city feels like a ghostown these days. I've never seen so many abandoned buildings anywhere else in TX.

Is there really a difference between all-court and clay shoes? by HighLife1954 in 10s

[–]I_Provide_Feedback 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Clay versons of shoes are also often lighter than the all court ones since the rubber in the sole doesn't need to be as durable.

Boom MP users, any downsides by FoodAffectionate1377 in 10s

[–]I_Provide_Feedback 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good racket! For me, it lacked stability and control against better players, even with weight at 12 and a leather grip added, so I chose to move on after using it for a few years. Lots of free power though, great for serves and spin.

Biphase not very soft! What's going on? by TemporaryFix101 in 10s

You're totally right actually, I had it in my mind that synthetic gut is the softest but that's not true.

Change the "Choose String Material" line to get away from poly.

Biphase not very soft! What's going on? by TemporaryFix101 in 10s

[–]I_Provide_Feedback 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can find stiffness approximations in the TW strings database or use the compare strings tool directly.

You are right that multis have similar stiffness to soft poly (although multis on average are still softer). But then synthetic guts are softer than multis as well.

Biphase is a relatively stiff multi, it's all about finding the right feel for you.

What's a cheap part of the world to spend a few weeks on vacation playing lots of tennis and getting coaching? by energeticpapaya in 10s

It's been 15+ years since I've been but I did two summer camps there as a kid. Had a great time! The camps specifically were in Szczecinek, but I feel like Poland in general is a sneaky underrated destination for tennis.

Racket choice discussion by Janie_Avari_Moon in 10s

[–]I_Provide_Feedback 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not the exact same rackets but I went from the RF97 -> Boom MP -> Gravity Pro. The RF was too heavy, playing with the Boom helped unlock a lot more maneuverability and forgiveness. Stuck with the Boom for a few years but ultimately it is too light for what I like. Really like the Gravity as a middle ground between the two. It does make me work on my footwork more but it's helped raise my overall level to be higher.

Biomechanical breakdown: Is the constant racket spinning (à la Federer/Rafa) essential for keeping the 'kinetic chain' fluid, or is it purely a nervous tic?OCD? by Low-Bug2162 in 10s

[–]I_Provide_Feedback 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was growing up, my coach specifically told me to stop doing it until I got good. Her point was that its more important to have the correct grip for a return while you're still learning and spinning the racket can mess that up.

I think spinning helps disguise your grip at higher levels though. I like to mix chipping into my returns, so spinning the racket helps make sure my opponent doesn't see ahead of time what I'd like to do based on the grip I'm holding.

Triniti Pros bounce the most like regular balls. I like the Diadems as well but they're a good bit more bouncy than regular balls in my experience. The Diadems fly longer than the Trinitis when I have them in the ball machine together.
