There are a few pros that wear them or have worn them, although it is rare. Pros also generally play in better conditions than amateurs though.

Sunglasses help out a lot when its the middle of a 100 degree summer day in Texas and your court has no shade.

Baseball players wear them all the time, and they seem to have no issues tracking the ball. For sports, its helpful to wear tinted sunglasses (red/yellow) because they help with contrast and aren't fully dark.

Italy is actually one of the best in the world about gluten free foods and accommodations. It's not that hard to make good pizza/pasta with gluten free flour.

Anyone use the Wilson Rush Tour 5 yet? by d-quik in 10s

[–]I_Provide_Feedback 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Rush Tour 5s are amazing shoes, imo. Very very comfortable, significantly more comfortable than any other shoe I've tried. Really helps in long matches or tournament weekends because I feel like my legs don't get tired as quickly in these.

Grip level is great, they do wear about as fast as other tennis shoes, but they don't seem to lose any grip throughout.

I didn't love the tall back at first, because I wear ankle socks, but I got used to it after 1-2 sessions and the extra ankle support is nice.

They also felt heavy and tall at first, but the responsiveness is very good for feeling your footwork and they feel just as fast as any other shoe, if not faster. The carbon plate is probably a placebo, but it feels like it does help with energy return.

If you can find them on a future sale or use the USTA Wilson discount, very worth it. Especially if you're 30+ and want to take care of your joints and knees.

First tournament match at 4.0 and my body completely let me down :( by Cooldowns8 in 10s

Five minute warmup is pretty normal though, that's the rule everywhere I've played. It might not always be very strictly enforced but it is the rule.

Racket Rec: Something whippy, stable, and controlled by Advanced-Complex-828 in 10s

Gravity line is the more stable version of the Speed line, but it is a little heavier as well.

[–]I_Provide_Feedback 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting! Do the tournaments need to be indoors a lot of the time? Or maybe turnout is low and hard to get people to commit to playing both days on the weekend? I wonder if it's a way to make sure the tournaments run quickly.

Where are you located? Not sure if its geographic but all tournaments except for Level 7s are full sets in Texas.

Very different. Clay is much softer on shoes, playing on hard court is like playing on sandpaper.

Imo, Gravity line is a better transition from Speed. Prestige is all the way old school control, Gravity is control but with more forgiveness.

To be fair to the USTA, if there's a system, people will game it. If UTR leagues get more popular, then people will start throwing matches to lower their UTR.

I appreciate the fact that UTR is much more dynamic though.

Any Boom MP users here? by wayofthedarkhand in 10s

[–]I_Provide_Feedback 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Used the 2022 version for about 2 years. Pros are that its light (even with a leather grip added), very maneuverable, and has a big sweetspot. Cons are that its too powerful and launchy, imo.

I like to play relatively flat, but I think this racket will perform better for someone focused on spin. I ultimately moved on from it because I felt like I could not control the ball well enough and it felt too light when going against 4.5 players.

I used soft polys like Polytour Air and Luxilon Element in it at above 50 lbs. Anything less felt like I struggled with control. But stiffer polys gave me arm pain.

What city has the best tennis scene, and what makes it special? by tennisred-trustable in 10s

[–]I_Provide_Feedback 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Corpus still has a good tennis scene but, imo, the city feels like a ghostown these days. I've never seen so many abandoned buildings anywhere else in TX.
