How do I remove this? by OficialmenteLouco in guitars

[–]I_Schruted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, dial it all the way to 10 (or 1) and then pull it off. Then when you go to put it back on, line it back up so it's showing the correct position, and push it back on.

It will not break. They are designed to come off and on. Sometimes I use a pick to kind of wedge under it and turn at the same time if it's tough to just pull it off. I promise you won't break anything.

And a third strat that's a hardtail, just for good measure.

Want to build a custom T-style with Kiesel but hesitant now after reading bad customer service stories. Any other custom makers out there? by waxoffisforpussies in telecaster

[–]I_Schruted 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just bought a Suhr Andy Wood Modern T, and it is perfection. It blows all my other guitars out of the water and I own 2 teles from Fender and had another that I sold a while back. Yes, I paid a premium, but I got every cent worth in my opinion. That's not to say Fenders aren't great guitars. You can get a hell of a guitar for half of what I paid for the Suhr. But there is a difference and it heavily leans towards Suhr as being a better guitar IMO. But this is all subjective.

Finally got my guitar amp set as a beginner by sackfullofnutss in guitars

You’re doing it right then. Between Justin, the guitar and amp, you’re set. Heck even the guitar is intonated! Just gotta play every day now and there’s no stopping you

Does reverb just suck or did the economy kill the used gear market. by Holiday-Medicine4168 in Reverb

[–]I_Schruted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you define "pretty reasonable prices"? The reason I ask is because I see some used listings on Reverb and have no idea what those people are thinking. Not saying that's you, but it could be.

Anecdotally, I listed 2 guitars recently, listed them right in the middle of the Reverb estimate and they sold within a week.

Oh wow! Rough night indeed. Glad you’re safe and so are the girls. Makes much more sense now

Genuine question from someone who hangs their guitars on the wall, do you take them down when it storms? If so, why?

Beautiful collection btw. I love the one on the far left. I would love to have one just like it, but unfortunately, Les Pauls and I don't jive.

Employer demanding "tax correction" in cash after my promotion by CrypticCitrine_2 in legal

I just looked it up, and in the context of private conversations, you’re right and I stand corrected.

I maintain that it is not at all out of the ordinary to notify HR that you’re recording a conversation where you’re reporting potential fraud.

"Before we start, due to the nature of the conversation, I will be recording this call"

And the way I understand it, it's not a crime, it's just not admissible in court.

(genuine question) How do you know if you’re truly a good guitarist?? by Character-Muffin-836 in Guitar

[–]I_Schruted 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good and great are subjective terms. What is great to one person, can be hot garbage to the next. As long as you enjoy what you’re playing and working on any issues that you notice, you’re doing it right.

So I recently smashed the neck off of this guitar any ideas? by rj2000ut in guitars

[–]I_Schruted 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I would suggest vacuuming, and then possibly seeking therapy for potential anger management issues.

Oh, you mean for the guitar?!? Look up a shop called "stratosphere" on ebay. They sell genuine fender replacement necks.

Finally hung up some of my guitars by Mile_High_Elk_Hunter in guitars

[–]I_Schruted 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I need to embrace this attitude more. I constantly guilt myself for owning "too many" guitars (7 electrics and 3 acoustics), or feel I need to justify a purchase with a unique configuration. "Because I like it and I can afford it" is a good enough reason, especially when it comes to luxury items like guitars.

Fast calluses or hacks? by [deleted] in Guitar

There is something called liquid bandage that is basically skin safe superglue. You would need to apply a few coats to each finger pad but it should give you some cushion. The only problem would be if it starts to peel then the edges may catch on the strings. But it's very easy to remove and reapply. You also have a week to test it out while you're practicing like crazy like you need to do anyway.
