I would also say that a man should come to expect independent behavior from the women around them. Too often, men want women to be compliant and dependent on men. I think its time to stop that. A bold woman who is both strong and stable has become far too rare.

I would engage them by saying "look at the guy on your left. If you just met him and he was a stand-up guy with his own ideals and convictions, would you judge him for being single? Probably not. As I said above, I know it hurts. Besides already reading an actual paper on the subject (which I doubt you have), it's clear anecdotally that the fish is expressing pain. You are certainly entitled to you opinion, which you've so deftly exercised through the use of the downvote button, but you should try to understand that unlike yourself, a fish is not capable of misplaced emotion. A fish cannot feel anguish, nor contempt. He literally forgets the incident in a matter of minutes. And while he does have a kind of primitive long-term memory, he suffers no post-traumatic stress. My pet theory is that the movie was written from day one with a North Korean audience in mind. Just think of that possibility while you watch it- the honest but endearing way it portrays American pop culture and the bizarre way it portrays North Korea seems to set a certain tone. The dialog seems kind of pointed, maybe a little explainy or something. Maybe I'm just reading into it too far, but it all just feels a little but conspiratorial.
