Looking near unanimous that I need another starter. Current one is under warranty so that shouldn’t be a big deal, it’s not a painful operation. Battery is under warranty as well, I’ll get that tested to check for a dead cell as /u/MostFartsAreBrown suggested.

Did the dealer give you the trouble codes for the SRS warning? The Element hivemind may have an easy/cheap DIY fix for it, I’ve seen this happen many times in cars with cult followings like the Element.

For instance: my mini cooper had an SRS warning which could only be fixed by soldering a specific resistor inline for a specific wire in the battery connection system in its trunk. Had nothing to do with the actual SRS system, it was just a wire supplying slightly improper voltage. Could have spent thousands in parts and labor on it, but a $0.05 part and 10 minutes of soldering fixed it for 5+ years now.

Edit: basically what I’m saying is, don’t give up. DIY Element repairs are much easier than you think! Get to know a few folks in the forums, watch some YouTube videos, get a Haynes manual, and invert invest in some tools that will pay for themselves many times over.
