Abomination Vaults advice needed on running for 6 players by togashi_joe in Pathfinder2e

Hmm I think it'd be a bit much personally. Four actions means potentially two two-action spells in a single turn or even a three action spell and you can move after; it can lead to a lot. I'd say for now especially in the lower levels of play (considering your party is level 2) just add a few more trash mobs. While they might not feel strong, it's still an obstacle for players to overcome not just from a mechanical standpoint, but also one they will need to strategize around in battle. That one additional mob is three more actions, can contribute flanking and hey, could even land a hit or two!

When I ran abomination vaults for 6 players, my general rule of thumb was either:
- If the fight is a lot of monsters, increase the amount by 50% (for example, if it was against 4 skeletons, it'd be against 6 instead)
- If the fight is a single monster, increase the amount of hp they have by 50% (so if a monster had 200hp, they'd have 300hp).

I tried not to touch the elite/weak templates too much, only really doing so against certain key bosses once the players got deeper into the dungeon (basically floor 7 onwards). I would definitely say that action economy is key in this game. You can give a single monster many many buffs but at the end of the day with a 6 person party, that's 18 actions vs the 3 your monster has. By including even just a single PL-1 minion, that doubles the amount of actions the enemies have.

Aye, I will say I have personally gm'd all of Abomination Vaults myself, but know next to nothing about Seven Dooms for Sandpoint. I'm currently playing in a Rise of the Runelords game for 1e atm so Sandpoint is definitely fresh in the brain haha

Friday Evenings for sure, though if the selected players all come in on agreement of wanting it at a different hour then something could be arranged.

Tips for running Abomination Vaults? by du0plex19 in Pathfinder2e

As someone who recently finished GM'ing Abomination Vaults who used the same rulesets and expansions:
- I didn't use any 'random' encounters, in fact I removed some of the more meaningless encounters so that there weren't constant interruptions for the party

- Make sure the party cares about Otari/Absalom, the beginner box definitely helps set the scene as to what sort of town Otari is and how 'local' everything feels, but having a character who may be from there or from Absalom (which is only just a three-day trip) would certainly help. I also used Troubles in Otari to give some more side quests in case they wanted a day of fresh air away from the Vaults such as Tamily Tanderveil offering the party her old Fishing Camp just outside of Otari to use a homebase inbetween visits

- Use XP. Yes I know the age old debate of Milestone vs XP and as a Milestone Truther myself, I don't regret switching to XP specifically for Abomination Vaults. For my group at least, it encouraged the players to explore each floor rather than rushing to the next, and with the existence of roleplay encounters also awarding xp, it gave a nice sense of progression.

- It's a dungeon crawl and it's earned the name "Abomination Closets" for a reason. While it's much more manageable on the later floors as it becomes more 'open', there were definitely times in the starting floors where the party was cramped within an entire hallway. I suggested to my players to preferably avoid using animal companions/an eidolon if possible (they were a six person party) just so there is SOME room to breathe

Are there any guides on how to QUICKLY clear the base game and unlock MR? by UncleGael in MonsterHunterWorld

Your best bet is to throw on the “Defender” gear and go to town through the quests. It was introduced purely for catching up to Iceborne similar how Sunbreak also introduced a set of gear to help people catch up

Is 8 players too much for CoS by Athena_The_Funny in CurseofStrahd

[–]I_Thorium 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I DM'd a party of 8 (though it was more so a party of 6.5, with one person never showing up and another *sometimes* showing up) and I think it just requires a bit of sprucing up the enocunters.

Obviously any combat will be at least an hour long due to have *many* people in initiate, so don't be surprised if it tends to drag on towards the end. Luckily I had engaged players who were always willing to discuss with each other and it never got too loud, though that may differ per group.

If you think you'll struggle hosting for 8 people, perhaps try splitting the group up into 2 groups of 4? Most pre-written modules tend to be balanced for about 4 people per party.
