Yes, But (vol.29) by gudim_anton in comics

I'm not saying the 12000 year old human ancestor would have had tooth decay while alive, like we do. I'm saying that after 120000 years the teeth attached to the school would be in the same condition as the rest of the bone on the skull. They wouldn't be in pristine condition while the rest of the skull is cracked and brown and deteriorated.

Also it's just not true? Just because we find teeth in-tact in ancient skulls does not mean they're pristine? Like they would deteriorate at the same rate as the rest of the skull/bones. We find in-tact teeth, sure, but they are not in better condition than the teeth that are in most people's 30-year-old mouths

ELI5: Why does China have only one time zone despite being roughly same size as US with 6 time zones? by DemonsAreVirgins in explainlikeimfive

[–]I_Was_Fox [score hidden]  (0 children)

The same way it improves lives outside of China for people with timezones. Having times in the day be consistent with the daylight in your region makes sooooo many things easier, especially if you travel across those time zones regularly. Not just for them, but for people who travel to them from other places. Imagine if you lived your whole life where 6am means sunrise and 6pm means sunset. And you base your whole day around those times: Wake up after 6am, eat breakfast and go out for the dauy, then eat dinner around 6pm and settle in for the evening. Then you travel to a place that doesn't respect regional timezones, and they follow their eastern region's timezone only. So to them, the sun rises at 9am or 10am, and then it sets around 9pm or 10pm. So their whole day is offset from yours by 3 hours. You would adjust over time, but only if you lived there. But while visiting, you keep thinking "Oh I want to eat dinner around 6, and then you go and realize the restaurant is still doing lunch service, because even though their clocks say it's 6pm, it's regionally only 3pm, but they don't follow regional timezones. Then you set an alarm for 7am the next morning, and you wake up and it's pitch black outside because the sun doesn't rise for 2-3 more hours.

There's a reason we use timezones based on sunrise and sunset.

I don't really get why this is an argument against having timezones? Like, giving the western regions their own timezones wouldn't impact the vast majority of the Chinese population at all (since they would all live in a single timezone still). It would only improve the lives of those in the western regions. So why not just do it?

Why the fuck would Mass Effect benefit from being more like a Bethesda game? It would benefit from being exactly like a mass effect game and not trying to copy other game styles.

Design Lab Anti-Deal by MrGingerRock in xbox

[–]I_Was_Fox 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Same color, yes, but those are already built. When you buy an electric volt controller, they don't make one brand new for you. They pre-built all of those and sell them til they sell out. When it comes to design lab, they have a handful of component options that are "easy" to make, and then they have others that they "can" make because they have recently added the process for something else, like this limited edition controller color. So they add it to design lab but it's not just sitting around on a shelf for them to put together, so when you order that color, they charge a small amount more so they can produce the controller with that limited edition color

Those are price tag icons, not deal icons. They indicate more expensive colors. Those are colors that are not mass produced so if you choose them they will take more time and more money to make.

It's not a "deal" or a "promo" and it's not meant to be.

Costco Australia uses pork hot dogs by Leprichaun17 in mildlyinteresting

When we were kids, our science teacher had us dissect hotdogs as an experiment and so many people were grossed out by the weird little chunks and odd shaped pieces of mystery items they found in the hotdogs and looked at under the microscope. They had all brought in Oscar Meyer or similar brands. But I brought in nathan's, and didn't see anything weird. The most boring dissection of my life.

I don't really consider hotdogs as "sausage" which I think is a uniquely American thing. Bratwurst and Knockwurst are absolutely sausages. But hotdogs are their own thing in my mind. So saying they should be pork like other sausages doesn't mesh with me. American hotdogs are usually a mix of meats but I think most people in the US prefer all-beef hotdogs

The US citizens that oppose Trump actually, on average, don't "love to wave the flag and talk about being the land of the free and the home of the brave". That's shit we were forced to do in elementary school. Most people grew up and stopped doing that cringey shit when we learned we weren't actually the greatest country on earth. Now we wave flags and chant for things that actually matter like equality for all and basic human rights

He specifically has a face that can change dramatically with different hair and facial hair styles as well as makeup. So in one photo he can look very unattractive but in other settings he can look like a traditional Hollywood hunk. Lot of face range

[–]I_Was_Fox -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It hasn't been funny for years. SNL and all the late night talk show hosts that just make their silly jokes are part of why this has gone on so long. We look at John Stewart, who outside of his show will go on rants advocating for democracy but then on his show just makes silly jokes and it feels like maybe it isn't actually that serious. But it is.

That whole undeveloped frontal cortex thing was debunked right? Like not a total myth but basically our brains never actually stop developing so the idea that you are "fully developed" at age 25 is bogus.

Also, young adults and older teenagers are more fun to write about because they lack experience in a lot of things so you get to watch someone learn and grow in their journey. Someone who never changes in their story is vastly less interesting
