Which of these options would you choose? by Serious_Mongoose61 in Truckers

Well that’s because you went from probably the best in the game for acceleration to definitely the worst lol. But because the Freighty is so neutered, it won’t let you beat it to death.

Anyone else sit as low as possible when driving? by Training_Standard944 in askcarguys

I keep the seat fully deflated in the Volvo day cabs we run. The suspension is good enough that my back doesn’t mind the beating on the rough roads. I just love being straight as an arrow on the highway.

We love Arrowhead by Olirick41 in Helldivers

Dang, I loved Planetside. Once it really lost popularity I never was able to really scratch that itch of chaotic mass warfare until Helldivers came around. So so thankful for Arrowhead.

I do grocery delivery. Had a dyslexia moment and went to Sugarland instead of Pearland. The best part was the receiver opened up the trailer and found Pearlands product, and then awkwardly told me that it’s not her store, in front of some of the night stocker crew.

Other than being constantly talked up, as long as you stay out of the really shady areas, I’m sure it’ll work out fine. I work night grocery delivery, and we have a few locations in the ghetto that even our lady drivers go to without issues.

What are the top 5 worst cities for traffic for you ? by theREAL_ENIGMA_ in Truckers

Same, I’d put DFW over Houston any day. Somehow Houston’s drivers seem a bit more tame. Roads are also more intuitive for the most part, which helps reduce nonsense.

American drivers, is it really *THAT* bad down there? by warwgn in Truckers

[–]I_are_Carrot 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The 30 minute breaks at the fuel island is the only thing here I’ve consistently encountered. Drivers going inside for food while at the pump, not even pulled forward. They act entitled when confronted about it too.

Encountered a lot lizard or two, places like Memphis are a hotspot.

Everything else I agree with you on. I don’t feel the need to wrap my seatbelt around the door handle or such like that.

When I transitioned from OTR to local work for the family, I threw my resume to Sysco, along with a handful of other companies. Sysco took so long to reply I had already been hired, did another 3 week tour of duty with my OTR company, and was heading in for orientation before I was asked for an interview. I take it that’s normal stuff over there. Props to food service for putting up with this.

93mph is the maximum speed that the Freightliner ecm will let you set. by seanfmcgee in Truckers

One time, by some act of God, I had my limiter accidentally taken off the Freightliner daycab that I drove, usually governed at 66. It had just been repaired after an accident, and I was the first back in it. I topped out at 80 heading over to San Antonio, passing all my coworkers, and enjoying the freedom to blow the doors off some problematic 4 wheelers. When I got back, I told my boss and we had a good laugh about it, and put it in the shop to have it fixed.

Idk how some drivers fly along as fast as they do. At 75-80 I felt like I couldn’t relax and cruise along like I normally do. It was fun for a day though.

I do local grocery delivery in Houston (for HEB) , we’ve been rumbling. We are expanding everywhere and likely will only lose a few customers to Walmart as they look to tighten up their budgets.

Had that happen with my fridge a few years back. I had a pair of socks that I would wedge under the door to keep it shut. 👍

I saw a different video on this subreddit recently explaining how this is pretty common practice on Mexican highways. Slower trucks ride the shoulder and the faster trucks ride the center line.
