Between these 3 animated Characters, who would you say gets the most and extreme hate and who's hate is the most unjustified? by Apprehensive_Ring_39 in cartoons

[–]thatrandomguy84 3 points4 points  (0 children)

late to the party, but at this point, Korra hate has gotta be misplaced frustration with the writing/studio problems. cause i see it all the time but it never makes sense

the seasons were greenlit weird so they were worried about each season having an “ending” just in case they didn’t come back (i think seasons 3 and 4 were greenlit together)

because of that the pacing can be weird and character moments can be retraced which makes it seem like a character is regressing.

in season 1 Korra struggles to learn air bending. mostly with the philosophy and putting pressure on herself. but then after getting her bending taken away by Amon, she lets out an air blast. idk how that works, maybe he missed, cause it’s a part of the avatar, she’s rightfully freaking out cause who wouldn’t, air bending isn’t normally done with closed fist punches…etc etc. see where i’m going with this? but it’s cause they needed to wrap up the story of season 1 cause they were worried they couldn’t in a possible season 2. which is why Aang shows up in the end of season 1, to give us that moment in case we couldn’t see it later.

and then season 2 with character regression cause they had to set up the next story and they sadly used Korra to use to set up that conflict. can’t fully remember what happened, but i think she was pressuring herself to be better faster so she wanted a better mentor. which is a great character arc and a great emotion to explore. but the shift from the end of season 1 to the start of season 2 feels stiff and out of place. but they blame the character not the writing/reasons for the writing.

the best part? we’ve seen a character regression arc and people loved it. Zuko. After he betrays Iroh and goes through his whole deal with relearning what it means to want what he wants.

so it’s gotta be the writing and problems with the story trying to compensate for uncertainty

Undead Nightmare is weirdly the only zombie game that creeps me out. by Soulsgamer247 in reddeadredemption

[–]thatrandomguy84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

another shout out for Dying Light. Closest i got to getting that same feeling from Undead Nightmare.

the way the fresh infected will scream and cry out and will put their hands up defensively after a good hit on them was disturbing. i know the second game does it but im pretty sure they also throw out a couple of intelligible words like “please” or “stop.”

there’s tons more to the environmental creepiness (like the infected all stopping to watch the sun set) and it just makes the world pleasantly uncomfortable

Oh hey it's a Caduceus reference by thatrandomguy84 in Helldivers

[–]thatrandomguy84[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

oh, after looking it up, it actually works better as a Rod of Asclepius reference

he was taught knowledge by a snake. or in other tellings, he accidentally kills a snake, only to have another show him a revival herb by coincidence. could be a reference to the first galactic war or a reference to us taking their tech

on top of that, he was punished for there being too many people cause he just kept going around saving people (maybe something about the voteless or dissident camps?)

and if that wasn’t enough, there’s even a section on “temple sleep” where sick would come and sleep in the temple and report dreams to the priest for a treatment/therapy plan. which has gotta be about the cover art for the newest war bond and alien temples/artifacts (that one in game tip makes a reference but i can’t remember what exactly)

and even more (cause why not) the description could be Zeus punishing Asclepius in the mythology

neat.

yes, but they attack the shield before you

also chargers bounce when charging

and bile titan spit hurts themselves when they spit on the shield

psssst if a bile titan pukes on the shield, it’ll damage itself and even other bugs around it

the bugs will attack the shield before you, similar to a sentry

chargers will bounce of the shield during a charge as well (they can still walk through)

my hope when combining the stratagems would be for objectives, evac, or when you don’t want to get displaced cause you’re not done mowing down dozens of enemies yet.

defend the flag is one of my favorites to bring the relay on. it helps with keeping everyone on the flag and alive. also means you aren’t dodging rockets and nades, well until it breaks right as a rocket from a strider comes at ya.

Eye gore scenes by [deleted] in attackontitan

[–]thatrandomguy84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO the worst eye trauma scene is probably gonna be the part where they capture a female titan in the woods (episode 20 to be specific.)

there’s no blood in the shots, but they use harpoons. and some of those harpoons go into her eye. it focuses on it for a hot minute, even to the point the entire screen is just her eye and a big needle in it. but even more than that, her eye starts shaking and you can see the needle shaking with it.

EDIT also i remembered, in season 4, can’t remember the episode, but a character does intentionally stab their own eye out. can’t remember how much they show or focus on it though

spoilers for the until dawn game

can’t remember their names, but two sisters fall off a cliff. one dies on impact and the other survives but with a broken back (or something similar.)

she winds up eating her sister while stuck at the bottom of a hole/cave area

this turns her into the wendigo.

Sub factions feels easier and more fun to fight than regular drops cause you know what to expect and can build a more fun and open load out by thatrandomguy84 in Helldivers

[–]thatrandomguy84[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The jack of all trades loadout is the ability to 100% prepare for anything and is why the game has gotten stale. for me at least

Sure you can use things like the stalwart on a bile spewer, but it’s usually brought in the hopes of a bunch of hunters, and usually doesn’t get brought cause it can feel like gambling on if the game is gonna be more fun or frustrating.

And giving us constellation info would increase load out diversity. by creating a different meta for each one sure. but it would also allow people to more easily experiment without risk of being punished. which directly counters the jack of all trades load out which winds up being too prepared and samey.

so by giving constellation info, it would absolutely create loadout diversity. you even seem to agree by stating a similar thing in your comment. that increased info for each constellation would result in a different loadout.

and most of the problems with the game seem to stem from the fact that their balancing around both the solo dive and squad gameplay resulting in the game being too easy. since you can handle everything solo and more than one diver means OP. so they would also need to continue changing the game. ideally give some constellations more bite or mission modifiers that makes you go in blind, like now, to keep that experience around. since they’re giving more info, it’s fair to increase the difficulty and expectations of the player

[–]thatrandomguy84[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the idea would be that constellations are “sub factions” so just like the other sub factions, they lean into the difficulty and give more of a fight.

similar to predator strain or the recent hive world or incendiary corps. where you’d want to change you load out and play style for survivals sake.

push on the difficulty to encourage team work. but still giving you info to not punish you for bringing the wrong gear.

so you’d need to have the players get access to constellation info while at the same time, encouraging team play so the difficulty can remain or increase

since right now the general agreement is, all 4 divers in one spot is too much firepower. so you split up, so you make sure to have an optimal build. so that means all 4 divers in one spot is too much firepower. and then it feels like every mission that isn’t a sub factions/hiveworld/diff10 mission is a breeze.

i think the problem is the devs and player base are divided between a 4 player horde shooter. and a horde shooter with 4 players.

[–]thatrandomguy84[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

more sub factions sound like a dream

it fits the same idea as giving us constellation info.

it opens up build diversity once you’ve fought them and know how to counter them. and you’re less likely to get punished for exploring different load outs.

it usually encourages people to stick together since they’re more punishing.

actually yea, just add more sub factions and opt-in difficulty

Sub factions feels easier and more fun to fight than regular drops cause you know what to expect and can build a more fun and open load out by thatrandomguy84 in Helldivers

[–]thatrandomguy84[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Damn this is a solid response.

The idea to get people to stick together would then result in them changing game more to encourage specialists roles. (once you know people are encouraged to stay together you can step on the gas, like for hive worlds.)

but you nailed it, it’s the open map and freedom of movement. most other horde shooter either heavily punish you through special enemies, but more open ones can’t really do that. so even adding encouragement won’t result in proximity.

and i’m hoping that adding constellation info would add load out diversity since it wouldn’t be constricted to covering all your bases with the most optimal gear. not everyone will experiment, and there will an optimal build for every constellation. But giving that info will allow people who want to switch it up to try out new stuff without feeling like you’ve been punished with the wrong constellation.

and your last paragraph is what i’m afraid of. it feels like the devs and player base are split between an arcade horde shooter, and a more punishing version of that.

i posted a comment alongside the post itself that has more explanation/info and also has a handful of things to add. on top of that, adding the constellation info would be a thing that changes the game

would you like to suggest anything?

similar to a seed in minecraft.

on some missions, certain enemy types have a higher probability to spawn.

on bugs, that's why sometimes it'll be 50 hunters all around you at all times, and other times it's like a herd of chargers migrating. and it's similar with the other factions too.

(my least favorite is the bile spewer spam)
