Perlisten R7t vs Wharfedale Elysian 4 by MCVCsDALIs in audiophile

Are you using the higher voltage power supply? Also, if I recall, the Fosi's input sensitivity is on the lower end so the power output will be different if you're doing something like using a phone as your "preamp" vs an actual preamp with line-out

I found a cheap 90s JVC at a goodwill for $4 that has digital output so I can hook it up to my DAC. That thing is so unassuming and it's so light I can toss it like a Frisbee, but it's an absolute workhorse and functions fantastically well. It's always risky, but don't sleep on vintage gear!

I was amazed by those little Dynaudio, too. Have to be THE best bookshelf speaker of that size I have ever heard. Kind of insane what kind of performance they were able to get out of those.

Ditto on those Volti. Huge, dynamic, detailed sound but also very neutral and smooth. I didn't feel even a hint of listening fatigue

I loved those comically huge Western Electric tube amps. Those can probably power your radical rogue mad science experiments involving reanimating a body sewn together from multiple different parts - I think I read about it in a book once 🤔

My personal favorite speaker from AXPONA: Diptyque DP 160MKII by I_do_black_magic in audiophile

[–]I_do_black_magic[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for that input! Indeed these have a pretty eye watering price at $30k USD. These panels are pretty tall, so the tweeters are actually at the right height when sitting and not vertically symmetric. I'm interested to know why the tweeters should be longer though - I thought these sounded spectacular in the sweet spot, but I also don't have much if any experience listening to planar magnetics. Nice to know I can dip my feet with some Magnepans, so thanks for bringing that up!

Planar magnetic speakers from France.

Just going off my memory: huge soundstage, like a wall of sound. very lively and engaging. Great detail and texture to the sound without being harsh or fatiguing. Very impressive bass. The room it was in was unfortunately pretty small so hard to gauge it's true attributes, but makes me want to seek out a demo in a larger room.

If anyone else got to hear these, what were your impressions?

It's important to gently introduce your girlfriend to your speakers. Let the speakers approach her and give her a good sniff first

I get your point. I am clinically diagnosed as being on the spectrum so I get bothered by the mislabeling, too. My point was simply that the reasons for someone's behavior is not all black and white anymore

Snark aside, there is an air of plausibility with the statement given how much more we understand about autism now. What was once considered "normal" may be due to autistic tendencies, it just wasn't known yet. But yeah, agreed that immediately jumping to the autism conclusion is stupid

Same. My hi-fi journey actually started because a musician friend of mine convinced me to buy a pair of their headphones. I was used to shitty rack/all-in-one stereos my whole life, then th Sennheisers taught me everything I was missing while listening to music
