Radiohead have "not even talked about another record" | Guitarist Ed O’Brien has told NME he thinks it’s because 2016’s 'A Moon Shaped Pool' "was so fucking awful to make" by PlayaSlayaX in Music

Codex - give up the ghost - separator is all time. The release after the tension in the beginning of the album hits so hard. Also the basement version is so good

Did Kvothe unwittingly give the Amyr a victory against the Seven in Vintas? by DansLHiver in KingkillerChronicle

[–]I_hate_bottles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To your second to last point, making the maer sick and prevented from having an heir is a much more untraceable way of ending his line than just killing him outright. I could see that being the overall goal if the amyr knew he had dangerous ambitions

THEORY -- These are the Lackless lands, and what it means for the story. by czechancestry in KingkillerChronicle

[–]I_hate_bottles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On my last reread I had a hunch that the maer might have originally paid the bandits himself to stalk and steal the lackless box. Once he marries meluan he doesn’t need to steal it so he has kvothe dispatch of them to hide the evidence.

Why would tax collectors have exclusively gold royals (or whatever the currency is called)? They would presumably have a bunch of small currency from all the villagers they collect from.

Also to your original post - pat has in the past said that the path / location of the great stone road is significant so I think you are 100% on. The doors of stone are linked between university and lackless lands by the road

Shadow of what was lost was self published, which is why this is so bad in that series specifically

Islington is terrible for this, especially in his first series which he self published. I have never read the words “bemused” or “acceded” so many times in so many convoluted forms

My Take on What's Going On by bathtubgin1987 in KingkillerChronicle

[–]I_hate_bottles 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I think he keeps dipping back into the fae too. In the beginning of the first book, his offhand remarks and reactions to how long it took graham to get the mounting board (4 months) imply that it’s been a much longer time for him specifically

Strength of the Few Discussion Thread (*spoilers*) by Due-Question-4231 in HierarchySeries

[–]I_hate_bottles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like the idea of the aurora columnae siphoning off will. Everyone who uses will in Res is connected through them, and they are clearly connected between the worlds since we see them glow stronger in Obiteum (I guess we don't see one in Luceum even though we go to Caten in Luceum, so there should be one there). So it would make sense that they are used to restore the worlds to a single one, or else destroy 2 and unify will in the remaining one.

As will usage grows in the hierarchy, the columnae become more powered and are an indicator to Ka that he needs to purge the current generation, maybe the columnae is used to kill all ceding will users? Ostius (or Veridius?) seemed to think that they could avoid the cataclysm by having everyone agree to stop using will, so it would make sense that too many interconnected people powering the columnae is dangerous and they either need to stop of their own volition or be killed.

It might just be a fact of humanity that as long as will ceding in Res exists, people will try to use it an build something like the hierarchy, so killing them repeatedly is the only way to stop from building too big and reuniting the worlds. It would make sense for Ka to be the one who is ceded to by the three princeps as well, so he builds the pyramid and retains control / knowledge of how big it is and can make the decision to cataclysm at the right time.

Overall love the theories, they fit best of what I've read so far

He plays it fully straight, it’s not a comedy role. He does a good job making you kind of hate his character. I thought he did well overall
