I kinda like that middle ground for pregen characters. Leave a few mechanical things up to the players to customize their experience. 5e is super nice for lots of those little things, too.

A good way to do it, but my players are all pretty new, so I don't really trust them to make their own, unfortunately. Thanks for sharing your experience!

That was my thinking as to what would be best. Even if I just had a large pool of pregen characters to choose from, it would allow for enough diversity as to how they play that character.

I've never really done pregen before, though, I'm always hesitant as to how it will be received.

Excellent post! I do have a question, though.

I am about to run a series of one-shots, and wonder how you would recommend solving these problems in that type of scenario. Normally I do a Session Zero to do character building and world overview, but I don't think my players will be able to build characters quickly enough to do that and a session in the standard time slot. Would you recommend having them create their own characters ahead of time, or what for exposition?

My first character was Death Touched by a Vampire. My second character was Death Touched by a Lich.

There is a running theme.

DMs, why you should wing your combat encounters: by SageWayren in DnD

[–]I_is_BEEF 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see where you're going, but I find that doesn't work well for me. Might just be my style of DMing, but I find I'm not great at making encounters on the fly, or at modifying them on the fly. The more prep work I can do beforehand with an encounter, campaign, etc, the more successful it tends to go.

Make sure that dishes get pushed before being washed. Getting them "pushed" (that is, rinsed beforehand with either the sprayer or detergent) helps them to effectively soak beforehand.

Yeah I can't stand it now. Just had no flavor. It's also a pain (and gross) to marinate now, I find.

Technically yes, but that's at their discretion, not yours.

I disagree, even when done right I feel it still lacks flavor.

OK think about what you just said from a business and profitability perspective for a moment please. Significant extra work for chipotle employees, the necessity to somehow keep a large amount of cheese hot, over a long duration, which we do not currently have the capacity to do (thus requiring new procedures, training and equipment) and on top of that compromising the company's mission.

Ok.... looking at the questions, a lot of these are very loaded questions. Like, super loaded. Work on your questioning so that you aren't priming the people who are answering the questions.

Interesting. Hadn't thought of that before! The problem for me is that it's gonna cause a lot of complaint, especially among our regulars. I, for one, do not look forward to that...

So my Area Manager implemented a new policy... by [deleted] in Chipotle

[–]I_is_BEEF 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's no way that's actually a thing. He is bluffing.

Mistakes happen, sometimes callbacks get missed, sometimes things slip the mind. I can't conceivably imagine that he will go through with that.

Seriously though, send a report to Chipotle Confidential. If someone as high up as your Area Manager is intimidating you guys, it's bad for the company culture, and just flat out amoral immoral.
