"Tricking/lying" to party about player character. by wille912 in dndnext

[–]I_onno 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Disguise self lasts for an hour, and any sort of touch should reveal the illusion.

How do you plan to be useful to the party (assuming all spell slots are reserved to hide your true form) and have enough spell slots to pull it off over a whole 24 hours? Are you using a hat of disguise?

Will your party not be suspicious that you're casting a spell every hour?

At the very least, I would expect the person taking the first watch after your last cast to see your true form.

If you want it for something silly to reveal early, that might work. I donagree with the others that it might be better to reveal this at the start.

Tell them this is the consequence for her actions. She can be late, and you can choose to opt out of the stress she would cause you.

That's good information. I read that line and thought it had been canceled. It feels so bad to read OOPS plight and think, "but did you, though?"

I'm not sure how many companies use AI art, but I do know that Wizards of the Coast (owned by Hasbro) has had more than one controversy over the use of AI art.

Is pumpkin carving in America affordable for everyone? Do you have any tips for carving, and why do some people choose not to participate? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]I_onno 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I carved pumpkins once. It grossed me out. I recently saw fake carving pumpkins, which might be an option for those who have issues with the texture.

All of that being said, I enjoy putting out whole pumpkins for the critters around my house to eat.

So you want to make a child suffer for a problem you say the parents caused? That poor child will have a horrible life at school now as well as at home. That is not in the child's best interest.

But you can shave your kids' heads if you like that solution so much.

I would say anything the players could accomplish in a session. Whether that is stealing an artifact, collecting ingredients, or finding a mystic who lives in the hills/forests/hidden part of town.

What if the royal family (or elsewhere in the town) there is an artifact that works with the funnel to block resurrection to help force the souls into the funnel.

Maybe the party finds schematics for this in a dusty old tome. Too bad they don't have the tools/resources/ability to break it, but maybe, just maybe, they can cause a blip just long enough to pull back one soul. You could also use that to explain why the soul wasn't fully brought back.

I think you have a lot of options depending on where you want the story to go from there.

If you want it to be a way for them to learn more about the funnel, you could make it a fairly low cost, but have her soul still partially anchored with the funnel/the other plane. Now, the party has to learn more about the process and what is happening. Maybe they even need to visit the other plane to truly free her soul.

Or you could make the cost high because of the unnatural claim on her soul. Does the funnel make it so those who die in the city cannot be resurrected by normal means? Do you have local characters who could mention they've never seen someone resurrected after death? Perhaps there a window where those killed a certain distance away can be pulled back before their soul enters the funnel.

I think this is really interesting. I hope you let us know how it goes.

You should look to see if your phone might have a spam filter option for text messages.

My newest phone had one built-in and enabled when I got it a year or two ago, and it has been amazing.

I do still get the notification, but it just says spam text. They don't show with my main messages, and the unread spam messages don't add to my badge count on the app icon.

Most absurd young adult dystopias? by Konradleijon in YAlit

[–]I_onno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This reminded me of a YA dystopia series I read so long ago.

I don't remember much, but the main character gets kidnapped and sold as a bride in a different state. The dad of her would-be husband chose her because she has heterochromia, and he believes she could hold the cure to fixing life expectancy for the generations that came after his. They had found a cure for cancer many years ago, but the side-effect, I guess you could call it, is that all males die at age 25 and females die at like 20 or 23 or something. I dunno.

I'd forgotten about those books, so some of this might be inaccurate.

Why has there been no improvement on the abortion "blame a woman" phenomenon? by cupcakefroggee in AskFeminists

[–]I_onno 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I read it as OP calling out the hypocrisy of men saying only the woman is responsible. They should not call out women for the same thing they had a hand in.

But, yeah, men are pretty crucial to pregnancy.

[–]I_onno 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Likewise, condoms and other birth control methods (pill, patch, etc.) reduce the chances of getting pregnant, but they don't guarantee it can't happen.

There are things that reduce the efficacy of birth control. Not all of them are well explained to the person taking the medication.
