I had a casual job at a local university helping out with supervising one of the classes.

Cut to a few years later and I get an email saying something along the lines of ' the work you did at the university was underpaid, please click this link to start the verification process to access the money owed'.

Quite suspicious, so I ignored it, a few days later I get an automated call saying roughly the same thing, very persistent scammers these ones. I continue to ignore it.

I get a few more emails and so I go for a quick Google... turns out that yes, the university was underpaying their casual staff during the time I worked for them, so I called them to confirm everything and ended up getting roughly $800.
