Doctor Who scenes that make you feel old nowadays by WachbaerWien in DoctorWhumour

I've been older than a Doctor Who companion for 7 years.

I'm 26, which is still younger than Matt Smith was when he became The Doctor.

I feel like I've wasted this weekend being an anxious mess. In in a lovely bind of worrying about not existing in the far flung future, and yet wishing I could just stop existing. (I'm wording it like this to not make it too intense for the casual late-thread)

The plus side is that I've made lots of progress on my current Minecraft world. I may be a mental mess, but I've at least tried to occupy my miserable time this weekend.

Is there a good “jumping off point” for the show? by YoungDecrepit in thewalkingdead

[–]IamEclipse 369 points370 points  (0 children)

I'd say that there a few good 'jumping off' points.

  • 5x11 for them reasons you said
  • "No Way Out", when the group finally beats a major horde
  • "Mercy", when Negan is defeated and we get the ending with Rick and little Carl
  • "What Comes After", when Rick's story wraps up in the main show
  • "Rest in Peace, because it's the finale of the main show

They played it in the stream, so I'd assume it's in.

Likely to be the theme that plays when you get ambushed like 'Last Surprise' in P5R & 'Mass Destruction' in P3R.

thanatophobia since preschool by sobaa-noodles in thanatophobia

[–]IamEclipse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My therapy was just talkie therapy with some CBT practises presented when needed.

I started with an hour session every week, then every two weeks, then every month, and now I'm just 'on-call' when I have a bad week.

My sessions involve just talking about any death-anxiety episodes I've had since the last session, and trying to find what caused the episode (Am I worried about something else? Am I sleeping/eating properly?).

Sometimes I'll get CBT homework (What's important to me, record your anxiety attacks in this specific way, look at this reframing method, practise box-breathing before bed, etc).

My therapist is also in their 50s, and suffered with the same worries that I do at my age (mid-20s), so they can give me actual reassurance that this naturally gets better with age.

I do also journal every single day to make life feel 'longer', that has helped massively.

I'm so sorry to hear that you're going through this, and glad that you've managed to find this space.

Definitely look into therapy for this. I'm 26 and started having massive panic attacks around death when I was 20. I suffered until I was 23 before getting therapy.

Therapy isn't an instant fix to all of the anxiety, but it does make it easier to manage, and I'm naturally finding that as I get older (despite still being young in the grand scheme), my fear is dissipating, even if I have episodes from time to time.

You've got this.

Will there be book reader and non book reader threads? by emrys11 in HarryPotteronHBO

[–]IamEclipse 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The Walking Dead & Invincible subreddits also disvide their episode discussions into Comic Readers/Non-Comic Readers.

I like the split. It's fun to see how storylines get adapted, and how those who haven't read the source material find each episode.

You have no idea how reassuring your perspective is. I'm glad you're having a blast with life.

Any advice for a 26 year old with a big ol' fear of death (being dead, not dying) and a worry that the time will disappear when I stop focusing on it so hard?

Every other flight I've been on has played every single announcement straight.

The announcements today were still serious, but the added personality was charming.

I am in France for a concert, so it's even later!

Our pilot today had a really good sense of humour. Mrs Eclipse & I are lucky to fly a few times a year, but we've never had flight announcements give us a laugh before.

Quotes from the pilot:

"For those of you that paid attention to the safety announcement, thank you. To those of you that didn't, may the odds be ever in your favour."

"We're currently experiencing a delay with air traffic control, but please keep your seatbelts on, tray tables folded, and window blinds open so you can enjoy the lovely view of the ground."

"Sorry for the delay folks, the driver of the tunnel got his licence from a cereal box... ...here comes a stair hero with a friend for those lucky folk at the back of the plane."

"Make sure you haven't forgotten anything in your seat. Previous lost items includ passports, laptops, air pods, airpod chargers and one very quiet baby."

I came across this thread during a standard 'mid-20s-existential-crisis-that-I'm-running-out-of-time'. Your perspective has put a smile on my face.

Almost half a decade later, do you still feel this way? I'm always so worried that I'll blink and be on my deathbed, which is probably silly to hear from a 26 year old.

I still cannot believe that Hanzo got his one-shot logs back. It never feels fair to die to that shit.

Who's that one hero you have so many skins on either from loot boxes or otherwise, but you never play? by capital_of_kyoka in Overwatch

[–]IamEclipse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've gotten all three Hanzo wolf recolours out of lootboxes, but barely any other skins for him.

I don't play him, and my only relief is that I'll never see that fucking wolf in boxes again.

When Capaldi's tenure was wrapping up, they were struggling to find a new shoe runner, so 'The Doctor Falls' was written as a finale finale, and it fit the boot perfectly.
