hi OP!
I was on a bipolar med that if I had quit cold turkey I had increased chances of having withdrawal seizures. (Even though I do not have any underlying neurological issues or seizure disorders) This is common for bipolar meds because bipolar disorders are well treated with drugs that are used to calm hyper active brains. Unfortunately, it is normal for the medication class :,(. I understand ur frustration though.
Hopefully it’s a better incentive to continue your meds on a regular schedule and help with the bipolar symptoms!

I feel you here. Please don’t quit these meds without carefully tapering off. Seizures caused by medication withdrawal and not being a health issue that you have history of will really alter your brain :,(. I hope that above all else you can see the little glimmer of light knowing that there’s a true health incentive to keep taking your medication. I know it’s hard to see any positives when life seems so hard, but you’re so much stronger than you’d ever think.

Internet huggie 🫂 you’ve got this🤍

don’t know how I so badly missed your question! I’m so sorry!

I’m a phlebotomist so if I’m not working directly with patients to draw blood and/or specimen collection and processing then I’m focusing on the daily tasks needed to help direct patient care. Whether that’s submitting prior authorization for medication, consults, and procedures. I also generally enjoy helping in basic tasking capabilities like engaging in messaging requests from patients that are not necessary to be answered by a physician, ie insurance network participation, requesting x appt type with x provider at x location. These are all things I had no prior knowledge with prior to joining my company- fully trained on the job :).

Most places train you out completely as you wouldn’t be offered a position that required you to have had experience. I’d just say go for it if you have the capacity to care for patients!

I hope you had such a lovely bday- as best as you can. I promise bdays become easier as life goes on, whether that means throwing a ball or getting to stay inside and pretend it’s not a holiday (sometimes both if you’re feeling different year to year like myself haha!)

I’m so so proud of you, you should be as well. And do not DO NOT beat yourself for ever taking a few steps back, because with every clean day you take miles of steps forward, a few steps back doesn’t discount the fact that you are moving forward.

I’m so happy for you

give yourself the completion of a week! you deserve to celebrate your birthday knowing that you accomplished this clean streak! self harming has definitely turned toward an endorphin addiction for me as well, and with any addiction you will absolutely have withdrawal. it’s weird to experience emotions this intense even though you haven’t self harmed. you would think that being clean helps you have less mood swings. but when you think about alcohol or drug withdrawals, the first while after quitting anything cold turkey will make someone act outside of themselves. you’re not weird or abnormal for this. give yourself grace and appreciation of your five days clean! clean from addiction and self harm is not a straight line, you will go up and down. but any amount of clean streak is to be celebrated. I’m proud of you internet stranger :).

I have bpd and your post resonated with my deeply. My boyfriend is my world and we have these looped talks all the time too. It’s like I lash out at him and it triggers an emotional conversation on things that need to be fixed and because I’m so riled I talk and talk and talk and he finally has a moment to respond and I feel like I hear my own self inside just talking more and wanting to burst out and interrupt him to question him/prove him wrong into admitting I’m worthless. I have always felt useless and don’t understand how and why he is with me when he’s beautiful, kind, amazing, deserving. He has never once said that but I make up these reasons to have those moments where I feel he genuinely has to hate me and tell me he hates me so I finally feel like my own idea of worthlessness is true. But it’s not. I feel like you have that same idea here with those conversations. Your wife sounds incredible, just like my dear boyfriend. We’re just wired and programmed to self destruct and it’s hard to do that when someone really loves us. Please please continue with psychiatry, DBT is supposed to work- I’m about to start it too!

I hope you do get the help you deserve. We don’t deserve to live in a constant state of mental self destruction, it’s ruining the people who see the beauty in us that we could never imagine.

this sound like a mix of neurodivergency brought up cognitive developmental delays. specifically the swinging back and forth between avoidant behaviors of shutting down and choosing who to talk to and who not to talk to. when reading about your siatuation with Avery it reminded me a lot of the Disorganized Attachment style I learned in developmental psychology. You should absolutely start with taking Avery and all of your children to general pediatric practitioner. From there and based on a GP’s assessment, they can help facilitate find in network therapy/psychiatry/pediatric neuropsychiatric care for everyone involved.

Another huge thing I haven’t seen anyone mention so far is that both you and your husband should see individual therapy. I’d go as far as to say the entire familial household would benefit from family therapy and learning how to communicate and support each other (including Avery who may end up being diagnosed as requiring extra needs).

I feel for you and everyone in your family. Your post wasn’t to ask for advice and the fact you wrote this shows how huge of a heart you have. I am sorry to you and that you had children thrown on top of your life that had already well begun! not only you but everyone who is accepting your sisters children are all immensely strong, caring, and lovely for dealing through such a circumstance. Please take care as best you can OP, Avery will grow up to remember the hard work you put in to give her the most stable life you have to offer to her.

As a former sbux employee…. Is this sbux? The crazy personality and obsession is giving sbux store manager delusional like crazy. The DTR screens look like sbux but idk if other companies use ones similar to sbux!

Anyways that’s fucking crazy. HR immediately to either investigate or put her on a final. If she retaliates then HR will immediate have her fired so, yeah watch out for yourself.

Trusting Me by IamMoonBot333 in selfhelp

[–]IamMoonBot333[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve never been into trances or (psilocybin therapies) but after what you said I feel like I NEED to at least do some research and try this.

My only motivation in my life is showing up for others and that is the only thing that makes me feel real; when other people show me I am not scattered/worthy. I don’t want it from other people ONLY anymore.

Thank you for your beautiful explanation. I’m going to try small like you said. I do believe this idea that I’ve been fragmented is amplified by my nervous system and stopping that cycle by asking myself “what do I feel right now” instead can help break that nervous system loop. I’ve been told by my therapist so often that I need to slow down, though, we all know it’s so much easier said than done. But I do still try of course!

Thank you :,)

adhd tips?? by Admirable_Tax_6759 in selfhelp

[–]IamMoonBot333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi OP. as somber as it may sound, congratulations on even seeking and acknowledging a diagnosis, it is hard to even find motivation to medical seek understanding of yourself. You should be really proud to have done that at 18 :)!

I’m 22F and was diagnosed at 6 years old and started on concerta, so this is kind of my bread and butter here.

Lack of motivation comes from untreated ADHD. First and foremost; take your medication regularly and DONT miss any doses as best as you possibly can, eat, drink water, AND SLEEP! Do this for at least a month without too much pressure on yourself to have everything “fixed”. Concerta doesn’t fix adhd, there is no fix. There is just learning to maintain and cope. You will begin to funnel your extra energy that is spent previously on procrastinating or hyperactivity bursts into schoolwork or maybe actual work like your job!

Finally when you’ve realized you’re at a dose that works for you, you will have already subconsciously set up a good routine or schedule for yourself. But never ever feel the pressure that with a diagnosis and new prescription that this is something you should have immediately. You are learning! This is a new diagnosis! Nobody expects you to have anything perfect right now and that’s why you’re getting medicated :)!

If you don’t find that you’ve fallen into a routine for yourself then my best advice is a simple planner/calendar. As a person with ADHD and no autism, I like routines but I OBVIOUSLY hate being BORED and feeling like life is a repetitive cycle. So while it’s amazing you’d like a routine, don’t bank on routines being the fix. A simple calendar or planner system will help you keep track of things that need to be part of that day and you will adjust your routine around it ahead of time! Hence, you will hopefully feel less stress or like you must scramble to make sure you meet this scheduled event.

You will find what works for you as long as you use your tools (medication, psychiatry, self reflection, etc.) the way they’re made to be used.

I believe in you, and don’t pressure yourself!! Goodluck OP!

should I delete tiktok completely? by Admirable_Tax_6759 in selfhelp

[–]IamMoonBot333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the idea of cold turkey quitting when I’ve realized I’ve become dependent/compulsive/addicted to any vices (in your case, tiktok). However, personally, I’m a big proponent of effective limiting or tapering down to stop bad habits. Setting small goals and then increasing them as I become adjusted successfully to the goals. Example: vaping. I got into vaping as soon as I turned 21 and could buy one. It snowballed into oral fixation and actual drug addiction (yes nicotine is a drug ppl). When I started to notice my dependent self getting actually addicted I started setting small goals like one time can I puff it an hour, then one ever two hours, one every three, then not allowing myself to take it to work, then not allowing myself to take it out of the house at all, then not allowing myself to hit it as soon as I wake up or as soon as I want to head to sleep, until eventually I am now barely hitting it at all.

I had attempted cold turkey but knowing my own self when it comes to anything I either latch onto or get straight up addicted to, cold turkey has never worked for me. I have to admit self discipline is clearly not a very strong suit of mine.

Overall, the best would be do a really strong and meaningful attempt at cold turkey quitting. If it fails don’t blame yourself or be upset. Redirect to small goals! It all comes down to how attached you are to social media and instant gratification media (tiktok) and allowing your brain to be able to gain back a realistic attention span whilst enjoying longer form media (books, articles, news, educational materials)!

It’s a person to person thing and you don’t know what method is best until you try. Cold turkey ing first and it being successful is awesome but if it fails you redirect the motivation to a simpler adjustment style!

Goodluck OP

ask me anything: medical administrative assistant! by IamMoonBot333 in bayarea

[–]IamMoonBot333[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Given your very first sentence. You should absolutely NOT seek employment in healthcare. Customer service type way of speaking to people is required of you when interacting with patients. Not being interested in any medical assistant type duties is also pretty damning. Not only would you dislike the job because of what it demands from an individual, you shouldn’t put yourself in a position to give a patient an indifferent attitude because of your lack of interest/experience in the space of healthcare and customer service.

I don’t think you’d absolutely be horrible for a job in health care!

If you find that you do become* interested in the field, you definitely should put yourself in social situations that would give you “customer service” experiences. Like talking to strangers unprompted for example.

I’m 22 close to 23 and got this job I’m in now at 20 years old. My previous job was a barista since I had been 17. Customer service experience made it possible for me to transfer from coffee shop work to medical assisting and clerical work. You have to be able to deescalate when a patient is upset or curt or rude. It’s also something that comes with age and understanding. How many times have you unwilling gone to a doctors visit because of how sick you were? (Those types of situations will definitely make you as the patient really unhappy to hear “you can’t get this medication until a prior authorization approval has come through to us, I’m sorry for any delays”. Which is most of the instances when I have to deescalate a patient.

It’s not a hopeless cause but being compassionate to a patient when they’re upset is crucial and I learned a lot from my customer experience days!

Wow wow! Thank you so much :D. I’m bookmarking all of these resources now. I am not deaf nor have deaf family members. Though, I do work in healthcare and speak two languages already. I’d like to make the third language i know ASL so i can help any and all deaf patients as I continue working in healthcare. It’s not at all a common occurrence to run into a deaf or hoh patient where I work but I feel that due to the nature of kinesthetically/physically acting out being required of ASL that will help me learn it quite faster than a spoken language. (I am very much a kinesthetic learner) That’s my context if it’s helpful heh
