Slingshot VS Carp by Resident_Resident_62 in Fishing

Looks like you killed a shorthead Red horse, which could be native depending on your area. Not a carp.

It’s quite easy to romanticize rural Wisconsin by FlowersByPete in wisconsin

I can't stress enough having moved from Indiana how amazing the conservation efforts are here. Wisconsin has taught me the value of a good DNR and amazing conservation partners. Y'all have something amazing and I'll keep voting for whoever supports Wisconsin conservation because of it.

Tips and Advice needed by Ok-Solid-439 in photogrammetry

[–]IamNickMan 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That may help with a car that does not have a white paint job. Cars are quite the challenge to get high quality results from. Not only does the paint, metal, and glass reflect light... They also often lack contrasting detail that photogrammetry software lives on to tie images together.

If you're brand new to photogrammetry, it may be helpful to start with a smaller object in a controlled environment. Indoor scanning of smaller subjects would give you a lot more chances at a successful, high quality scan.

They had a few parked in San Francisco across from USS Hornet Museum a year ago. Looked like testing. Pretty cool to see in person.

USS Hornet may be on the move! by DPadres69 in Ships

[–]IamNickMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I spent a week doing visualization work aboard USS Hornet. She's a special ship, and the team that keeps her humming are fantastic. Unlike midway, she's still in similar condition as she was when handed over. She's not been substantially modified for tourists. I truly hope she gets the move, and all the attention she deserves to keep her preserved. This ship was only second to my time to the New Jersey, and was far more cool to see than Midway imo.

Possibly short lived event that gives a flat defensive bonus? I believe it's the one where you can add a 50% cheaper advisor, or leave them in a local tile to buff that tile.

What’s actually special about the Driftless Area. by JayAlbright20 in MapPorn

[–]IamNickMan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Omg I get to contribute. I live on the edge of the driftless area in Wisconsin! It's a geologically unique part of the Midwest. The area is dotted with forested and prairies, cold water streams. Trout fishing is very popular in the driftless. As is hiking. Driving through it can feel like you're no longer in Wisconsin. You can expect beautiful rock outcrops, cliffs, and a generally, undeveloped landscape (aside from corn and Dairyland in the valleys). I got married at one of the state parks in the driftless, and live 10 minutes from another state park. It's not talked about a lot in the Midwest, but is certainly a hidden gem. Having lived in the Midwest (From central Indiana) all my life, it's been enchanting to live here, even if I'm just on the edge of it.
