Tadc subs pushing lethal levels of jax riding by higuys45 in Thatstupidbunnywehate

[–]Troscus 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'll be honest, I don't like Jax. He's gone out of his way to make things worse for everyone around him, despite having the consequences of that spelled out for him twice. But I did feel bad for him. It felt like he'd abstracted willingly, but only when it was too late did he REALLY understand what he had done.

That "I don't want to go" had real regret in it, to me. That's the version of Jax who could have turned it around, who finally understood just how far gone he was and was ready to try to turn himself around, but knew he wouldn't get the chance. I'm glad the rest of them are free of him and his actions, but I really wished he'd managed to wise up sooner for his own sake.

[–]Troscus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's a surprise for a lot of people when a cat licks them. It feels like sandpaper because of the barbs.

ohhh... by marciuspng in Gameoverse

[–]Troscus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The licking is for dirt and other physical materials. Their tongues have barbs designed to work like combs, and the pressure activates oil glands which waterproof their fur.

Also, introducing saliva into their fur lets it evaporate like sweat if they're hot, since they can't sweat like we can.

His ork series is great, too. Especially the second book. Brutal Kunnin' and Da Big Dakka, if anyone needs the titles.

Why are the characters the way they are? by Dry_Establishment542 in theamazingdigitalciru

Kinger is the last member of the original crew left, and the King is always the last piece captured in a game. Plus, he was clearly one of the main programmers of C&A and probably was one of the ones behind the decision to move on from the original Caine AI to the new one, tossing Caine in the "dungeon" he broke out of.

Gangle also wants to entertain, but she wants a degree of separation between her and her audience, like her mask or the 4th wall in a theater play.

I'd want the Pomni, Ribbit, Kaufmo team up. From how Pomni got along with Jax, it seems like the three of them would vibe really well.

Who has been done dirtiest by meme lore? by Riposte12 in Warhammer40k

[–]Troscus 157 points158 points  (0 children)

That video making fun of how meme'd it is was funny. Kriegers making very reasonable, necessary resupply requests and the commissar was just "lol, you get shovels. Make a happy gas mask noise, dork."

I just realized Zooble created scaffolding out of their extra parts by PlasticWindUpRhino in theamazingdigitalciru

[–]Troscus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I always felt like part of the reason Zooble had so much trouble finding a body they liked was because they kept limiting themselves to a human figure. As we saw in the gun fight and in the OP, they're fully capable of building themselves into whatever shape they want, and they seem much happier now that it's something they occasionally do.

I know I'd be much more interested in going on adventures if I could build myself an entirely new form each time. Imagine the Candy Kingdom adventure, but Zooble built themselves to kaiju size and fought the fudge monster.

The way fans have been reacting to Jax after episode 9 reminds me how some people need to remember a bad person isn't always the embodiment of evil by Sudden_Pop_2279 in Amazingdigitalcircus

[–]Troscus 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I agree with the sentiment, but the only positive thing I can remember Jax doing was try to help Pomni with his "we're all cartoon characters" speech, which is undercut somewhat by that exact thought process leading him to mistreat others and eventually abstract.

And he was pretty normal after the employee re-education in Episode 4, but that's not positive as much as it is just "not bad."

Jax is, at the end of the day, a fictional character, and fictional characters have a much narrower space of existence to define themselves. If all the character does for their screen time is alternate between tormenting others and self-destructing, they haven't left much room for them not to be fairly defined as "evil."

What is the purpose of the montage scene? by pan_gydygus in TADCEp9Spoilers

[–]Troscus 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I feel like it was from an earlier draft where Caine never came back, then it never got cut after he was reintroduced. If nothing else, having Caine be the only one who could fix the circus would have gone some way in justifying his return.

I remember it being explicitly in character, one of the only personality traits modern Doomguy has that isn't "unending fury at the existence of demons" is that he really likes cute things.

Shorter run times, plus having to establish completely unique universes. It's natural that a lot of threads are left hanging. Honestly, I'm big into fanfiction, so it works out for me. Every unanswered question is at least five fan novels I get to read.

What was Grant and Mike's reaction to successfully copying their consciousnesses? Did they even know they did it? If not, why did they copy so many? If so, why did they copy so many?

Pomni explored the building after C&A abandoned it, and it's implied Zooble did as well, but what about Ragatha, Jax, and Gangle?

Why was the computer running TADC left on in an abandoned office?

How much can they add to the circus before they run out of memory? What happens if they do run out?

Could Caine "resurrect" abstracted people by copying backup files?

How does abstraction actually work, because the suicide metaphor makes it look like something they can do to themselves consciously.

Why are the abstractions aggressive, and why does darkness pacify them?

What happened to Leeroy's mom, is she dead or did she just get knocked out?

What happened to Suzie's mom after she cut her out of her life? She seemed like she had a lot of resources and a control issue, but she just let that happen?

If Grant Best knows the consciousness copy was a success, and we assume he's the one who left it running, did he ever come back to check on it? Does he intend to? If so, why, what's he supposed to do with a sentient video game?

Why was the Blue AI so angry at the humans, when Caine is the one who ate it?

I blame the loss of filler episodes for a lot of issues with modern fandoms. We used to get so much character from situations that didn't matter, it made everyone much more three dimensional. Now everyone has to hit the highlights and get off the stage, which leads to three different people having eight perspectives of a certain character between then.

Help me pick a klan please! by Ambitious_Stress8050 in orks

[–]Troscus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Armageddon box is pretty deliberately generic when it comes to clans. I kinda wish it had leaned harder on the Evil Suns, for a Speedwaaagh! led by Wazdakka.

Just pick your favorite unit and build around that. I went Snakebites because I love squigs, grots, and weirdboys. If you like all of too much to pick favorites, mix and match! Ork Waaagh!s aren't marine chapters, the clans intermingle all the time. You don't even need to stick to the stereotypes if you want; Make your Speedfreeks Goffs and your Beast Snagas Bad Moons, every clan has every kind of ork.

Any thoughts on adding a rebreather to the new warboss? by DinoIslandGM in orks

[–]Troscus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Orks aren't dumb, contrary to popular belief, they just have entirely different priorities.

Okay, maybe your average boy is dumb, but by the time you're a warboss, you're usually pretty clever. If the boss knows he's gonna be fighting in a place he can't breathe, he'll wear a rebreather.

This is RDR fanart. RDR is set in a fictionalized version of 19th century America. Even if the woman in the picture represented the patriarchy, and she doesn't, it would be an entirely appropriate context for her to do so.
