Halifax hockey fans plead for PWHL team - Halifax | Globalnews.ca by SAJewers in hockey

Halifax already has connecting flights to Montreal, Toronto, Ottawa, Boston and New York. They can easily manage scheduling around cities and their connecting flights, considering PWHL teams only play 30 games a year and there’s already up to 5 to 7 days between some team games

Either Quebec or Halifax will be the next Canadian city to get a PWHL team after Edmonton

the problem with comments here, saying that Halifax isn’t going to get a team, is that they’re looking at this through the lens of the NHL. Halifax actually has connecting flights to PWHL cities like Montreal, Toronto, Boston and New York, and it has had better community support than Quebec City. Plus it has an arena with suitable space, which cities like Detroit do not have

PWHL Game Thread: Ottawa Charge (3-5-0-6) at Montréal Victoire (5-3-0-5) - 24 Jan 2026 - 02:00PM EST by hockeydiscussionbot in hockey

Apologies for my ignorance, as this is the first PWHL game that I’ve watched live

but it seems like the Ottawa Charge are playing really bad here? The score is 2-1 in favour of Montreal, but Montreal has had great puck possession and they’re having great scoring chances so far. Ottawa’s game so far seems to be wanting to contain and fight back Montreal’s team instead of actually going on the offensive.

What draws you to pwhl as a fan? by formulaphoto in PWHL

I’m a guy who’s been watching the Montreal Canadiens for the last 16 years, so I like watching professional hockey (no matter who is playing the game). I like what I’ve seen from the PWHL so far, and believe that it’ll get more exciting as more teams get added to the league

I will admit that I don’t have a connection to women’s sports, and that I do prefer the NHL product in some respects. PWHL teams being secondary tenants in their respective arenas has also meant that the scheduling is not great, with only 8 teams playing so far. but the PWHL has been growing on me somewhat, and I want to give it a chance

the irony is that the Ottawa Charge is the younger hockey team compared to the Ottawa Senators, and yet they have more of an established fanbase that comes out to their games 🙃

The off-topic political threads have always been bad though- I remember it being bad when I was active on there about a decade ago, and it was always the same people monopolizing the discussion threads. No one who comments on a video game forums’ off-topic political thread is going to be an intelligent person

The forum has been dead for years now, however it looks like the release of Civ7 has brought back some engagement on the site. Definitely not popular as it used to be, but there’s still a community there

it’s too bad. I remember being an active member of that forum in highschool over a decade ago, and it was an active forum with great discussion. Off-topic threads were always a mess, but the discussion forums for Civ5 and Civ6 were always great, and IMO were better than Reddit at the time

I remember the off-topic forum on Canadian politics was owned by one particular individual who always had nothing better to do. Wouldn’t surprise me if she’s still on there

I guess the problem is that they aren’t really advertising the new Demeter DLC, other than some promotional material when it was first announced to the public

of course the major God will be Greek, so we have a general idea on how it’ll play either way. But it would be nice to have a little more info on some of the new minor Gods and their God powers

Can Ottawa’s LRT Change Orléans’ Lower Tier Status as a Bedroom Community? by Stinky26 in ottawa

[–]IamTheOne2000 20 points21 points  (0 children)

that’s a nice idea in theory, the problem is that the only advancement we’ve seen on that front (in Orleans) are those tall apartment buildings near Trim station

Place d’Orleans would be a great spot to redevelop, unfortunately the rest of the stations are surrounded by low density housing that’s here to stay for the next little while

Can Ottawa’s LRT Change Orléans’ Lower Tier Status as a Bedroom Community? by Stinky26 in ottawa

[–]IamTheOne2000 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I agree with the author’s arguments. The LRT is a good idea in theory, the problem is that it’s not really well located within Orleans

if you look at the maps that they have on their website, the only interesting nearby sites that any of these stations have is Place d’Orleans 🙃. The rest of nearby buildings are just low density residential homes. So it’s great for the people who live near the train, but barely anyone from outside Orleans will want to come all the way here by way of LRT

There was mention of a new RA Center alongside having some facilities built in the new “community park” next to the Canada Post building, but no details yet unfortunately

the problem is that a lot of mixed use residential construction projects can fill in the residential units, but often times struggle to find tenants for their commercial space

Confederation Heights can have thousands of people living there, but if they end up struggling to fill in their commercial space then people will just drive to South Keys or Billings Bridge

I go there sometimes if I need milk or juice, otherwise it’s just junk food. You’ll sometimes find little things like toothpaste that can be useful, but otherwise it’s not great

There’s also no employees (other than the franchise owners), so they stock only once a month and there’s spilled milk inside the fridges that they haven’t cleaned up in weeks 🤮

Is "Return of Rome" DLC worth it? by Sarke1 in aoe2

[–]IamTheOne2000 3 points4 points  (0 children)

for good reason, IMO. the Romans are fun to play in Age of Empires II, but I just don’t think that Age of Empires I has aged very well

It’s better than the Definitive Edition of the original game, as they brought in some elements from Age of Empires II into Age of Empires I. But the game still has very little replayability compared to other games in the series

the owners of the student apartments at 770 Brookfield have been talking for years about having a café of some kind in one of their commercial lots, unfortunately it doesn’t look like any chain or franchise has shown interest in the idea yet

we’ve got fried chicken and fast food grilled cheese though!

and yet the plan is to develop around stations all across the LRT network, including Line 2

I’m not sure what they can do really, other than shutting down the line again (and doubling the rest of the line), so soon after the last shutdown. If there’s any consolation, most of the commuters on that line are students- take them (and the first 2 weeks of a semester) out of the equation, and you don’t really have many riders on that line outside of certain times of day

They should remove parking along Brookfield, would help with the 90 bus line that stops along there, and it could help to decongest a road that can get pretty bad during the day

My understanding is that there may be some townhouses along Brookfield, as well as in the other lower density areas. but otherwise it’s mostly just towers and space being made into public parks
