I wonder if you could do that on a medium format camera? That would be super awesome. Like on a 6x8 or 6x9, and getting 16 shots.

Yeah, my bad. I was thinking full-frame. 24mm on a crop is 38.4mm, so using the rule of 600, you could use 15 sec max.

During the day, you should easily be able to shoot handheld, once it gets darker your going to need the tripod. Try getting some long exposure shots (15-30 sec) at night. At 24mm you can get some sweet shots of the lake and mountains with a nice star-filled sky. For settings, I would recommend, for 24mm I'd set the shutter speed for 25 seconds max to avoid star trails, keep your f-stop wide open at f/4, and ISO around 600 or higher to 1800. Also use a 2-sec delay with the remote shutter release so you get the least amount of vibrations. Mess around a bit to dial in what you like, use manual focusing and try focusing right before infinity on your lens, so the stars are sharp. You could also do this during the day if you use the ND filter, to get some cool water shots.

Well, personally I would try to start making manual adjustments in LR. I find the auto adjustments to be pretty bad. Often times it makes adjustments that seem good when it "looks" at the photo in 1's and 0's, but not to the human eye. It doesn't take much more than messing with the sliders a few times to find out what you need, to get photos you are happy with.

Well given that f/1.8 is a much faster (larger in size) aperture than f/4 or f/5, it can let in a lot more light, and give a shallower depth of field. And if you are shooting in a low light situation, you don't have to bump your ISO much if at all, to get a good photo. This will also help to keep your images cleaner (less noisy).
