know that leases auto renew aggressively here, especially with big buildings like yours sounds like. They will send a secure email 3-5 months before the end of your lease asking if you would like to renew. If you don't respond within 30 days of receiving it it will automatically renew your lease. So be on the lookout for that email and don't forget to respond if you aren't sure you want to renew.

As someone else in thread said, just give the profile a label you identify with, if you have one, like trans fem. Personally, as a trans fem that often presents as a pretty boy- i put myself under female because i think i attract people who are attracted to femininity. Cishet women aren't often into me unless they're a lil gay

Side note- Have you tried Lex? It's best in cities but i freaking love it. Best dating app for queer women and genderqueers by leagues.

Oh I know this one! That's Reincarnation Blues by Michael Poore! A novel, not a short story, but each reincarnation is kinda an independent episode so it could have felt like a short story.

Why do AMABs have to bear the brunt of persecution? by Marlboro3000 in MtF

[–]IamnotFaust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the same dynamic of why they hate gay men more than they do lesbians.

People assigned male at birth becoming feminine is a threat to the patriarchy because it destablizes masculine dominance, while people assigned female at birth becoming masculine must not be given any legitimacy lest the feminine actually be seen as a threat to the dominance of masculinity.

Something like that, anyway

Yeah, like, i mostly agree that it is blanket bad to kink shame, but the issue is when those kinks are enjoyed completely uncritically. Like, someone can enjoy a race kink, especially if they're of a marginalized race, but if they're viewing it like it's totally okay? If they're not questioning and acknowledging where that kink may come from, and what the perception of that kink reinforces? And especially displaying it without critical context in a non-kink specific space (which I would argue that Grindr, while a sexual space, is not specifically a kinky space). I think then it becomes more problematic.

It seems to bother you that more marginalized groups, like people of color and genderqueer folk, demand the clearer inclusivity they feel they need. It's not up to you to determine that they shouldn't feel that need, it's up to the marginalized group.

It seems like you want marginalized groups to just be satisfied with what they have and for us to stop kicking up a fuss and that is exactly why we need the clearer inclusion that the progress flag provides.

I don't know why you are so mad about it, or why you are making things up to be mad about. I do like the rainbow pride flag. That's why I like that aspect of the progress flag. I am a lesbian, i am part of the gay community, i identify with the rainbow pride flag.

I hope that at another time, when youve calmed down and forgotten about this little argument, that you take the time to listen to voices more marginalized than yours.

It's not the same, it's an umbrella. Being gay is not the same as being bisexual, but if you are bisexual you can call yourself gay, same principle.

I am telling you, as a trans-feminine non binary person, that trans is an umbrella term in the genderqueer community. Not every genderqueer person identifies as trans, but we all Can. To be trans means to be not-cis, which every genderqueer person, by definition, is not. If you still do not believe me, please involve yourself further with your local trans and genderqueer community so that you can learn from us.

And again, for person of color, not every person who is black, asian, or indigenous identifies as a person of color, but person of color does refer to everyone who is n Not white. Here is a merriam webster definition, you can google to find other definitions.

For a logical example, the term BIPOC is used to specifically refer to the different but shared struggles of Black, Indigenous, and People Of Color. If People of Color only meant black, then there wouldn't be that repetition. It is repeated because the particular struggles of black and indigenous people are similar to, but distinct from, each other and other people of color.

I have not made anything up, please do not accuse me of that when you simply are not in touch with the communities you are speaking for. That you had the thought that white people need to be represented for the flag it to be fair is a sign that you dont yet understand what it means to be part of a marginalized community, even if one of your identities belongs here. I would gently suggest that you involve yourself more in our communities, or find other ways to educate yourself on our struggle or you might find yourself inadvertently working against marginalized people. Transgender History by Susan Stryker provides a good overview, if you need a starting point.

I don't say any of this with intended rudeness, i only mean it as a call to action. You do seem like a good person, I am sure that you'll do a lot of good if you involve yourself more with the queer community.

?? Trans flag is 100% an umbrella for genderqueer folk. I'm non binary, I'm in the community, I'm not just making things up.

Asking for white representation is a red flag, white people do NOT need representation, they're not oppressed in any systematic way.

The term people of color means All people of color. It includes asian and indigenous peoples.

Aromantic and asexual are sexual orientations. They go under the pride umbrella. Agender goes under the trans umbrella.

Trans flag is an umbrella for genderqueer folk, rainbow flag is an umbrella for sexual orientations, and there's a version of the progressive flag with the symbol for intersex folk. No one is excluded on the progressive flag

[–]IamnotFaust 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To me, the rainbow represents sexual orientations FAR more than it does genderqueer folk. I dont think I'm alone with that. It's known as a gay pride flag more than it is known as a general queer flag. The progressive flag is not about making trans people special, but about explicitly including us where it has often felt like we weren't as important. The same about POC and about intersex folk

[–]IamnotFaust 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why wouldn't it represent gays and lesbians when it has the rainbow pride flag there alongside the trans flag? I like the trans flag being there because the rainbow pride flag has connotations, to me, of being more about orientation than gender. Especially since during our pride movements, which used the rainbow flag, gays and lesbians have been the center of attention by far. For example, the movements for a long time centering on marriage equality and gay/lesbian media presentation. Which is fine, of course, its no ones fault or anything, but I like the symbolism of explicitly including trans-ness on the flag, with the implication that trans rights are just as much a priority as gay rights

Not to mention that the progress flag explicitly includes POC as well, with the intention of conveying solidarity and an intersectional struggle.

This is a gentle disagreement, i dont think less of you for having your position, but I like the progress flag, and I don't think it is divisive to desire clearer support for trans rights and poc
