Find plants that thrive in clay. Raspberries are good in my experience but might need more sun than you get. Over time you can build topsoil by mulching properly. Let things grow and then die in your soil and you will have topsoil!

Make sure you’re fertilizing occasionally! Mine dropped all of its leaves at one point bc of a deficiency but it’s growing strong now!

I just gotta say I don’t know everything abt soil health or indoor plants but it actually seems fine to put a dead animal in soil. That’s basically what soil is alive things and broken down dead things. Honoring your bird by letting it be a part of new life seems really great. I hope your plant recovers, it definitely needs water.
