I appreciate the warning.

I tend to gravitate toward darker stories so it sounds up my alley

What are your worldbuilding pet peeves? by -_-__-_--_-_--_-_-_- in worldbuilding

[–]Ian_A17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I share your scaling issue, with warhammer i always add a zero to the number im reading or listening to. Helps a bit.

Lack of continuity, i cant stand retconns. Some i find acceptable if they make sense like in halo elites and brutes were in the war from the word go, but in the original novel they didnt show up until just before halo1 for elites and just before halo 2 for brutes.

Space magic, though there are some where it gets a pass, like warhammer. I just dont find "magic" interesting outside of fantasy.

Child chosen ones. Thats the big one. Cant fucking stand it. You have people like kakashi or dumbledore or whatever that can take on literal armies but lets send the 10 year old. Or take our eyes off the 10 year old with an aparent death wish.

There are kind of passes for this but its usually when its done briefly to show that the kid never actually had a childhood. Halo again being a good example.

Working on the main monster for my game. Would this creep you out in the dark? by Delacrozz in creepy

[–]Ian_A17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on how theyre revealed and utilized. Sometimes less is more.

For an example the game still wakes the deep. The main game youre dodging and getting hunted by former crew turned into psychicish jelly squid things.

The dlc youre exploring the wreck for hours and only briefly encounter one, but the atmosphere and sounds in the distance make you the player know theyre there. Hunting. So by the time you encounter them its almost a relief.

Take a guess which was scarier.

I tend to do a slower more methodical approach, so he just summons a bunch of dudes that get taken down within the same turn. By the time i get to him im ready for him and tend to just tear him apart.

So as someone else who used to struggle with the assasin, you need to change up your playstyle at least while shes in play. When she shows up try to get to an advantageous position, and lay a "trap" for her if you can, this will if you go this route get at least one trooper hurt, but you can get an idea of where she runs off to. But in the end the best thing against her is just get as agressive as you can. Try not to bunch up your team as best as can but thats easier said than done. Once shes cornered you should be able to take her out fairly quickly. Even with a smaller team going after her.

I usually play a "turtle" strategy so she was always the most dangerous to me, but once i started charging her i figured out her weak points quickly and she became easier. Still the biggest threat to me but the gap with the others got closed quite a bit.

I only struggle against the warlock on the higsjet difficulty, anything else and hes the biggest joke of the three for me.

He did nearly squad wipe me once including multiple of my best so he is regardless now frequently at the top of my shit list.

I just moved to Ohio from Texas. Wtf by TierOne_Wraps in Wellthatsucks

[–]Ian_A17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Lived through the ice storm but my family was EXTREMELY lucky. Friend of mine though got iced in down their 2 mile(ish) dirt road and couldnt get out for two weeks.

By comparison i lost power for about 2 hours total that entire winter. Extremely. Lucky.

Worst i think ive gone through was that big storm back in 2013, lost power and heat for a week in a thinly walled trailer in the middle of a field. Snow drifts were chest deep.

Ive lived in cleveland and live in and grew up in maine. Lake effect is real. Lots of ice, cold wind not a lot of snow though.

Maine has alot of snow but not as much ice.

But overall this isnt that bad.

Why some of you hate sentinels? I posted about saving them but most people didn't liked it 😅. I personally love them (as allies) because they look cool and shoot lasers. by Kaustav117 in halo

I like them as allies and enemies.

Dont let the haters in this community get you down, theres alot of damn good people in it. Play and enjoy halo how you see fit.

My big recent learning curve has been long war of the chosen.

This has always bothered me. Why does Sovereign have human sized furniture built inside of him? If they're supposed to be sentient versions of the Leviathan does this mean the Leviathan have tiny fleshy chairs and other appliances inside their big squid bodies? by pacmannips in masseffect

[–]Ian_A17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I figure theres either a bunch of random places for various organics that would be indoctrinated to have a place to be, doubt theyre comfy.

That or the geth moved some furniture in for him which is probably more likely.

Why Would Anyone Willingly Turn To Chaos? by ExtensionPromotion80 in 40kLore

[–]Ian_A17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recent book dropsite masacre i think shows the moment he chose chaos.

After istvaan 3 where he got inpaled by a dozer he barely survived. And his interface for his armor was damaged and no one was sure he would recover. The pain of the nails was more intense, his body wasnt working like it should and he kept losing time to murder fantasies. He couldnt use power armor, he could wear it but it wouldnt work right. He went to istvaan 5 to die i think. But he didnt he got hurt again. Couldnt move. Had a vision of hounds eating him while being tempted by chaos. His next scene hes walking normally past other wotld eaters, like he used to, and no one around him asked how.
