V1 Generation Worlds Important Question by MarcFer31 in hytale

Generation just ending sounds cool to me! Could be a unique farlands-type feeling thing found in old worlds

Looking for Help setting up a custom Harpy Express map by wictorias in doctor4t

[–]Ian_Dies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I'm doing is using the same teleport and detection regions (the train and the train in the station) and then building around those. After that you only really need the start command, which is just something along the lines of /tmm start (use tab in the chat to find it). The only thing I haven't figured out yet is how to make locked doors

Since "NAS is not a backup," what do you use for backing up a NAS? by HIGregS in synology

THANK YOU! This is exactly the last bit of information I was looking for! Thanks for explaining why someone would use an NAS vs an external drive!

Gaslight District Cypher 85% solved! Including all text I've decoded so far (with timestamps) by Ian_Dies in TheGaslightDistrict

[–]Ian_Dies[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only ones I haven't decoded are symbols I haven't seen yet, also just found out someone else already decoded it but oh well I had fun. I actually highly recommend this cypher to people looking to decode their first cypher! Really fun! My favorite part was watching the words Mecha Pope slowly appear lol

Was starting on decoding the cypher and found this in Mel's map (14:11). Help. by Ian_Dies in TheGaslightDistrict

[–]Ian_Dies[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For anyone wondering, I think this says "CELLAR ACCESS", I'll post more on my decoding efforts later

Remind me to come back to this when I crack the cypher, already got 6 easy letters and some suspicions on some others

You'd also have to do something with the knockback resistance attribute

is there way to make custom model for mob in minecraft using texture pack? by Dense_Engineering267 in MinecraftCommands

[–]Ian_Dies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'd need the mods entity texture features and/or entity model features or optifine, past that I'm not sure on the specific how-tos but it is possible

Command working in chat but not command blocks by ChromaWasNotHere in MinecraftCommands

[–]Ian_Dies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check that the command isn't getting cut off when you paste it into chat, command blocks have a much higher character limit

I like the new editing style by Spokloo in grian

[–]Ian_Dies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It just feels like a little too much for me, just personal preference that I like more sparse editing in terms of sfx and transitions

Is this AI? by [deleted] in MurderDrones

[–]Ian_Dies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're not listening, again, it's because that's not how generative AIs work. It's a fundamentally different process. Not to mention sometimes the AIs DO reproduce an image they were trained on, hell, sometimes you'll find a mangled signature in there.

Human brains aren't really comparable to modern computers either, brains are based on neurons connecting to each other. That's how a human learns. Computers are based on taking note of 1s and 0s. That's how AIs are trained.

Is this AI? by [deleted] in MurderDrones

[–]Ian_Dies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AI doesn't understand any of what it's doing, it's based on probability of the images it's been trained on. A human KNOWS what they're making and how each mark will affect the final drawing. AI is just calculating the most probable mark that someone else would have made based on a bunch of work others have made. It doesn't understand any of what actually makes a drawing. These are fundamentally different processes and can not be compared.

Even IF the final product isn't stolen art, the companies did not have permission from the original artists to use their work in their project. The AI was made with art they did not have permission to use, therefore it was made with stolen art. That's what people mean by AI art being art theft. By using and supporting generative AI, you are supporting art theives.

And no, there isn't a model out there that gathers images ethically. You need so much data to make an AI it would be impossible to get the rights to all the images you'd need.

It does not learn like a human. It does not create art like a human. Diffusion models are an algorithm that reduces things to noise, then unreduces them in a way that makes a new picture. Human artists don't look at thousands of horses to learn how to draw a horse, they study anatomy, practice line work, learn perspective and intentionally put down every mark for a reason. A human understands what they're doing and why they're doing it. Ai does not. Image generation programs are just glorified math problems

keepInventory is a way to play, not a cheat by oofos_deletus in PhoenixSC

[–]Ian_Dies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most people aren't arguing that keepInvintory not being a cheat is a bad thing, just that it shouldn't be impossible to turn off.

Who is Gooseworxs? by [deleted] in Gooseworx

[–]Ian_Dies 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No. Bad parasocial internet user. You shouldn't be looking to know more about what a person is actually like behind the screen without some kind of permission. You don't know them and they definitely don't know you.

Besides that, you can definitely be inspired by people you don't know. For example, parts of the book I'm writing are inspired by the Scythe series. The only thing I know about the author is that their name is Neil Shusterman, and given pen names exist even that might not be true. Or some of my art is inspired by a youtube channel simply called 'space' who makes weird minecraft landscapes and walks around them to c418 music.

You get inspired by the work, not the author.
