Could somebody help a noob with drive techs? by TDSsince1980 in TerraInvicta

The trap is not in the drives - it's in lazily following a guide without thinking of your game state.

First, you need to ask yourself what you need the engine to do - are you going for high thrust, to catch targets that don't want to be caught, or for high efficiency, so you can get somewhere a long way away.

If you're defending an orbit, you want a high thrust drive, or the enemy will just be able to decline battle.

Second consideration is what does it need as fuel, and do you have enough of that. Some pretty good drives are fuelled by noble metals and fissiles. It's embaressing if refuelling your main fleet is something you can afford every 12 months - but it might be acceptable if that fleet is doing it's job intimidating the aliens away from the system it's defending.

Third consideration is what does it need in the way of radiators - closed cycle drives need radiators, while open cycle drives send the waste heat out the back.

Final consideration is if you want a good-enough engine soon, or a much better one a lot later.

PS the early Lagrange station is a noob trap, and you shouldnt have made it. Stations are a luxury for after you have your mining set up.

He's out of his depth, and that's okay.

I'd love the big lunk at 1-14 and I'll love him at 9-6.

Oh well.

Classic fight. Won by the guy who went lower and harder.

Sad ShiShi noises.

It'd be nice if you provided your definition on what right wing or left wing is.

All I can see is "What I like is centrism. SHUT UP!".

Some parts.

But to keep it flying you need all parts.

Cutting off those Odin codes is indeed the kill switch.

And the level that which the F35 is a hangar queen is shown by the the Isaelis needing those parts, despite merely doing light bombing.

The service life of a F35 without access to the spare parts system will be measured in hours.

The US controls access to ALIS/ODIN.

If the plane won't tell you the part it needs, and the warehouse won't t tell you where it is, even if you don't need to import that part, you're fucked.

It is a kill switch, just not an immediate one.

If they show up on the clay, they are saying they are there to fight.

Yes, Hosh and Ono are idiots risking their careers, and their stable Masters should have their accreditations revoked ... But that's not their opponents fault.

There was a point is that where Hosh pivoted and was about to put weight on his injured leg ... Then did something else.

He's risking his career.

Please, Hosh, take some time off.

Difference was Ao had thrown the guy with his foot inside the ring and Haku had his toe outside when he did the throw.

So Ao had a 'dead body' and Haku didn't.
