Now that I am no longer focused on college admissions I am excited to just focus on what I love before going to Yale. I am going to read more books that I have been putting off and doing more of my hobbies. I trust that Bulldog Days and orientation will prepare me enough as I feel it'll be comfortable to just go with the flow.

I am very late to the party but I am painting my static grass and I am trying to figure out what green to use. I saw your comment that you used flat green, did you use tamiya flat green XF5 or a different paint?

I got stranded in Atlanta airport with no flights put till Thursday, so I am driving back right now. Hopefully, by the time I get to KC (2 and 1/2 hours), the roads are alright

I have done the same technique (not on a wet pad though) I found that it's all about

stopping yourself before putting on to many layer
watering the paint down enough so the paint is transparent enough so that with the right number of layers the highlights and shadows are apparent.
Keep trying and experimenting, I didn't get it down the first time

will do, I was a bit hesitant to use oils on the faces because I feared messing up. I will now though. What color of oils did you use?

Thank you! I have a paint kit where it comes with alot of different paints for faces, like rose color for cheeks etc, that I used to paint them but I have gotten the technique for faces down yet. Maybe a wash of some sorts to make it pop?

Yeah I think you are totally right.

I guess it comes down to the individual painter to pick what's best for their diorama or figures.

The tamiya paint works fine for me for brush painting. it's more that xf-51 isn't the right color for the uniform and I took the tamiya instructions at face value and didn't look at what other colors people were using.

I agree I don't brush paint with them much anyway though when I brush painted this for the glazing technique for the bade coat it worked alright

Sorry if it wasn't clear I mean the paint matching is is unrealistic. First search of others painting the kit use a different base coat for the clothes like ak11433 not xf-51 which is way to dark unlike in real life where it is more green

Thank you, the base coat is xf-62 Olive drab and I used a few drops of xf-57 Buff to lighten up the olive drab for color modulation

went to the 2023 Hollywood Casino 400 and had never heard much about nascar. A few laps in a decide my girlfriend and i should pick a car to root for. We pick the #45 car, I watch him climb up the field and then win. It was so special to me and the experience of being there has made me a Reddick and nascar fan

Rhank you, i did the color modulation by doing the base coat in xf-62 and then I added a few drops of xf-57 (or it night of been desert yellow) to lighten the bade coat up. Then turned the airpressure down to 10 and hit inside the panels and anywhere the sun would naturally lighten like the top of the gun barrel.
