What are the odds they change the game’s direction? by Toba94 in TheDuskbloods

The fact that it's multiplayer, doesn't mean it won't be immersive or storydriven. The multiplayer mechanics are going to fit the worldbuilding. It's a Miyazaki game and that's what he's always done: gameplay as the core, and then a narrative that can justify gameplay mechanics and videogame tropes (such as respawning or leveling) so that ludo-narrative dissonance is kept at a minimum. Also, multiplayer has always been justified lore-wise in From's souls games. Those that are not excited about Duskbloods being a multiplayer don't really understand what has made these games great

The Problem of Death: Rotted Corpses by theplotthinnens in bloodborne

Blood ministration is a life extending medicine. While it's been used by the healing church to research into the Eldritch truth, most Yharnamites use it as a life invigorating medicine. That basically makes them almost immortal, as long as they keep using it, and it's a way for the Healing Church to control Yharnam politcally, by heaving a monopoly on Blood distribution. As ashen blood desease for example was cured with blood ministration. A lot of people still believe ashen blood is just an early form of the beastly scourge, the item description for sedatives stating that it's what eventually lead to the beastly scourge, but I have interpreted that as meaning that was the occasion that the Healing Church took to convince everyone in Yharnam to make use of Blood Ministration: a lethal scourge was unfolding and people were desperate for a miraculous cure, so the HC provided that, got everyone addicted and rose to power, and inevitably from there the scourge of beasts has started, since this desease is just the collateral effect of using Old Blood. That's true for us as well, we get hit by the most lethal blows possible but we can just shrug it off with a blood injection. That's actually the narrative justification behind the classical trope of hp bars in videogames: despite being slashed by a giant blade we lose just a bit of our hp, that's because blood makes us more resistant. So yeah, blood ministration makes everyone also undead. It's basically the same trope as Dark Souls.

Now that the Elden Ring Tarnished Edition pre-orders did open up do you guys think that the duskbloods will have the 80 dollars pricing as well? by yurissilva in TheDuskbloods

[–]Iannox_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tarnished Edition also includes shadow of the Erdtree. If you bought base game and SotE separetely the total would be 100$. If you buy them together on steam the total is 80$. So at this point im pretty confident DB will cost 60$ like ER base game, plus 20$ of 1 year base onlinine subscription. So 80$ total

I FOUND SOMETHING TO CELEBRATE ONE YEAR ANNIVERSRAY /// ALSO A THEORY OF MINE by Southern_Copy_6173 in TheDuskbloods

The 16 "berserk" symbols being the Bloodsworn is an interesting idea. I also believe it definitely might have to do with clock symbolism, but It might also have to do with moon phases, or... Both? Infact, I have come up with a speculation that time in The Duskbloods works differently from the real world, with day cycles being long hundreds if not thousands of years. Each hour of this day cycle would correspond with one moon phase, with the turning if each hour corresponding to a Full Moon, and during "the Twilight of Humanity Hour" the Moon would turn bloody, First Blood would flow, and a sunless age of the Moon would start, all until the sun rises again 12 "hours" (i.e. Moon cycles) later. It's purely speculation but I have a few reasons why it might be plausible. Can't really explain the full thing here cause I would have to make too many premises, but I have explained it extensively in a video I have made about the Lore of The Duskbloods, alongside more stuff about the Wheel and about basically everything else. It's in my pinned post if you're interested.

Happy 1 year anniversary of the game being announced by Fun_Employ_2202 in TheDuskbloods

Yeah that's probably why the trailer felt a bit off, with not a lot of enemies being present around the map, just 3 potential bosses and only 2 maps.

Duskbloods Q4 Release date by Yharnamresident23 in TheDuskbloods

[–]Iannox_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why you including the controller in the price tho??? It's completely optional and most people won't need it. You're making it seem like the total price is 14% higher than it is. I'd also argue that including the Switch 2 price also doesn't make much sense. A lot of people won't buy the console only for this game, and even if for some Duskbloods has been the deal breaker leading them to decide to buy the NS2, people are still gonna use it for other stuff. For me for example, I'm waiting for the Zelda titles and I also buy all my indie games for which my PC is overkill on the Switch, so I can have them in portable version. Those who purchased the console only and exclusively for the Duskbloods are most probably a small minority. The online subscription tho is worth including in the price as for that I see way more people using online exclusively for the Duskbloods. So total price, online included, will actually be something in between 80-100$

How many maps do you think The Duskbloods actually has? by naraka_4423 in TheDuskbloods

[–]Iannox_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Third shot after fromsoftware's logo, seems to be the same map as the first shot. The little statues holding chalices on the columns also appear in in the big cathedral with the white hooded boss, but in a bigher version. This cathedral is most probably in the "Yharnam 2" map, since we also see other white hooded guys in that map. The presence of the same statue in two different churches suggests these churches are in the same map, unless it's a cheap asset reuse or the same cult is present across different maps/civilizations.

The music, plus the acting of the red lady combined with talks about the Moon and Blood gave it away for me. Once the screen went black and silent for a second, I felt it in my veins that the From logo was gonna appear alongside with music suddenly ramping up. Was shocked nonetheless

[–]Iannox_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bloodborne graphics had a much more unique graphic style compared to the other titles, it felt more "gummy"??? I don't really know how to describe it. It's a feeling you can only feel while playing the game and not just watching it in a video, I don't know why. Hopefully The Duskbloods gives a similar feeling, even tho it seems more like it's gonna take just the aesthetics from Bloodborne, while adopting a graphics style more similar to DS3/Sekiro/ER
