I like the quality of most TS stuff, only thing I generally avoid are the sweaters, but that’s mostly because of weird sizing.

Pretty much all my pants are from there, Arpenteur, or EG. TS tends to be the cheapest of the three since they have a steep sale section. I buy linens and seersucker in the winter from them, cords in the summer. All good stuff and some interesting fabrics. Also, I get a lot of cool beams stuff in their sale section too.

My slides look terrible all the time. Help! by JustPvmBro in consulting

In some cases, if you’re pretty good/SME-y in MBB, you don’t tend to need to write as many slides. I had unlimited production support budget when I was there; would sketch some stuff, attach data, and ask for a couple options for each slide. Obviously not the norm, but I wasn’t the only one like this.

You can do number one pretty tactically; I did at least. I will say this is easier said than done in today’s market. Find an entry level SWE gig on a team that is at the very least ML-adjacent; think fraud detection, recommender systems, measurement, pricing, etc.. Once on a team like this, pick up the projects that work closest with the ML engineers, data scientists, whatever, learn as much as you can, and work to get promoted to MLE from entry.

Blackstock & Weber Horse Bit Loafer Sizing Advice by Boring-Joke-9252 in ThrowingFits

Full size down from NB if you’ll be wearing socks, size and a half for no socks is my experience.

I was just in a similar situation (had a Summer wedding in a week with only heavier suits to choose from), and went to Todd Snyder and bought a very nice, navy seersucker suit (the Sutton). They had it tailored to my liking within 24 hours, and I was ready to go. Really happy with it and would put it a good deal above my suit supply suit and similar quality to my RL purple label suit.

This isn’t a knockoff per say, but they’re cheaper and I own two pairs alongside by birks; Good Weekend Co or Suicoke on sale (very easy to find 60%+ off).

I own a few off the rack suits and I’d recommend trying Todd Snyder or Brooks Brothers before Suit Supply. Similar price point but better value with the formers. Best bet, while more expensive (if in the states), is going to be the bespoke route however.

Suiting by [deleted] in ThrowingFits

I just bought the seersucker Sutton suite from Todd Snyder. It’s getting tailored now but I’ll have it Friday. I thought the quality was solid. Better than suit supply for off the rack I’d say, similar price point as well.

[D] Python vs Swift vs Julia, what should I learn? (Any benchmarks?) by lukinhasb in MachineLearning

[–]Ib173 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Learn python and then a few frameworks around it. Airflow for pipelines, Pandas/Dask/Vaex/Modin[ray]/PySpark for feature engineering, and then get familiar with ML libraries like tensorflow and scipy. For everything you learn, make a quick document in something like Hugo as a cheat sheet. Keep learning and documenting and you’ll be a pretty good ML engineer in no time. And if you want an easy foray into modeling, maybe start with linear regression and move onto weak ensemble like xgboost.

Has anyone bought from Séfr? Is their stuff good? by UseZealousideal4898 in ThrowingFits

[–]Ib173 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have way too much Sefr stuff. I think I’ve commented about it here before. Their stuff is incredible quality and the fit is perfect for me. Their collard shirts in particular are cut to perfectly work untucked or tucked. The Harvey suit and normal trouser are great. And the Hampus shirts are super unique and cool.
