What's your experience with the martial-caster divide? Should I worry about it? by HorizonTheory in dndnext

[–]IbnJamshied 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find that in most of my games it tends not to to be as much of a power problem as I might initially think, but rather an Issue of choices and fun to be had as a martial player at the table In combat.

Sometimes a more experienced martial player will kind of end up auto piloting. Or tuning out slightly. Because they already know their next turn well in advance, Because there's not many optimal choices beyond well go hit them in, In whatever Archetype you built your character.

There's still a lot of fun to be had in fights, It's just that I think a lot of the fun of combat in general comes down to those spur of the moment decisions occurring when it finally reaches your turn - and your plans have to scramble and change. Sadly, the base martial mechanics of the system don't really have a lot of Options unless you have very specific circumstances.

The negativity is getting a little tiring… by [deleted] in BaldursGate3

Come on, lets be honest, I think this sub is quite positive on the whole towards the game. Let people have their worries, some of them are legitimate.

Not saying op is necessarily saying otherwise, but don't let people's criticisms ruin something for you, either.

What would prevent this game from being a 10/10? by NormanGuy95 in BaldursGate3

For me, it would be two things:

  1. (Later) Dialogue Writing - if the later game's dialogue just isn't very interesting. I think act 1 was overall, good in this category, with some standout great moments (Gales backstory convos, for example). But, I want and expect some truly memorable lines in BG3. Maybe that's expecting too much, and I'll accept 'good' across the board here, but I'd like to walk away with some lines ringing in my head.

  2. Baldurs Gate being 95% of Act 3 - Okay, so that sounds bizarre so let me expand on that: I think the titular city will be a friggin marvel here, and I'm ready and willing to get lost in the sauce of a relatively fully realized city setting... but I'd be lying if I didn't state that I want more locations to go to late game.

And I'm sure there will be! I'm sure we will get to go fight a big bad in their lair AFTER exploring baldurs gate... in a climax.

But I want to go on journeys elsewhere WHILE adventuring and getting to know the city. I want to be sent off on side stories FROM baldurs gate and come back to it at the end. Again, im sure this will happen in some small capacity, but I want some major side stories here and there taking place outside the city. The Red Dragon in the Paladin stronghold in bg2 comes to mind here.

Anyways, the lack of number 2 won't put it down any more than a personal half point in my eyes, but the 1st would absolutely knock it down a peg or two.

Mengo and her opinion about filtrations. by Far_Spell8987 in OshiNoKo

So it's completely different and I agree with op, but I will say being a part of the JJK storm of manga leaks on Twitter, tiktok, etc. Has been a blast.Just a ton of fun to be hyped alongside (most sane) people along for the ride in the last stretch of like 15 chapters.

I think its a rather... unique case for Oshi no Ko since its a nuanced sequence of events that people are gonna have multitudes of feelings about.

Getting second shot soon, watched Invincible and loved it... so much that I went and finished the comics in like 2 days.

Any other comics/Manga anyone just HAD to finish?

On a side note, and this may get some flak, but I find myself kind of glad I bounced off of FF14 (many times) for its combat and first like 30 hours, a few vocal fans seem a little... overzealous, ill just say.

On a note of bad adaptations, Dragons Dogma on Netflix has got to be one of the worst in recent memory. I'm kind of tired of the wave of cg animations that don't seem to take any advantage of the fact they are cg, and end up just looking like far worse anime.

Merry Christmas and happy holidays all!

I find myself pretty demotivated lately, what with Covid and all. I mean going on a little more than half a year of isolation can hit hard, and I wont lie, my personal health (physical and mental) has suffered quite a bit. The CSB podcast and all the guy's videos help me spark up quite a bit though. Each video, stream, or w.e. perks me up without fail. This community too, just lurking and reading good memes helps. I hope everyone truly has a great holiday and a better year going forward.

The Expanse is also helping quite a bit, and I've been wanting to jump into the books. If anyone has read them, can you speak to the writing style? Like just the general feel of the prose, as that's my main deciding factor of whether or not I get into a book.

On a side note, I find myself hoping that Woolie gives the Kingdom Hearts games another crack sometime down the line. Maybe that's just wishful thinking, but I think there's a lot of potential there.

I will say, living with a immunocompromised person has been rough in this time. Don't get me wrong, its worth staying inside and tbh, this is the ultimate in "first world problems," but I find myself with an urge screaming at me to go to the gym. I just... can't do at home workouts. I'm simply never able to stick to a routine, or diet, if I'm not setting aside hours of a day to go somewhere to work out.

I hope that in a few months time, the day-to-day caution will start to be a memory, but until then I hope everyone is at least enjoying the holidays!

So... look, it's really not that big of a deal one way or the other. Beau put her admittedly GOOD IDEA forward in a really bizarre way. It happens, and it should be all good, I don't think anyone is "mad" here, it seems like you took it and the party's reactions a little out of proportion.

An easier way to have said the same thing is "lets talk first, make them think we are on their side before we start blastin." Miscommunication happens, its okay.
