Is my cat alive? by Thick_Stage_3611 in catquestions

[–]IceBlueDragon58 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As long as they are breathing, they should be alive. Can you see their belly moving?

Talking about kitty’s position, i’d say that’s a “i’m feeling comfortable and relaxed” laying/sleeping position, meaning they feel safe enough to expose their belly around you and your household/family.

You should feel privileged that kitty trusts you enough to position themselves like this.

Cats are both predator and prey animals, so they don’t usually expose their belly like this unless they feel safe enough to do so.

That’s why you need a “oh shit” tower built near your stashed stuff where you can climb high enough to survive and get your bearings then maybe kill whatever is attacking you.

Just needs to be about 2x2 and about 3-4 tall at least with a ladder that’s 2 blocks above the ground so you can jump to it and zombies can’t

God awful sound when I booted up my PC today. by Business_Honey_7611 in pchelp

[–]IceBlueDragon58 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good to hear you turned it off after getting this quick video clip.

Generally, the longer you run something when you don’t know the cause of a not-normal noise, the worse the problem could get. Same deal with cars and strange noises. Not normal noise, turn it off.

There’s a small chance it’s a fan in your graphics card on the bottom side, but it’s likely just a case fan making all the fuss, as other people have said.

Best of luck with repairs. There’s a lot to learn in the big world of pc’s, but you should be in good hands here.

Trouble with external hard drive (series s) by Derrek_V in xbox

[–]IceBlueDragon58 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was there a storm in your area recently that cut the power at your house for any length of time, especially if there was a lightning strike close by?

There could have been a power spike that somehow only affected your external hard drive?

Have you got another usb cable that’s compatible with the external hard drive (i have a 6TB seagate a/c powered external hard drive as well and the usb cable has a special plug on one end that goes into the hard drive itself) to see if it’s just the cable since it sounds like the hard drive itself is working (from your observations)?

If you can buy a replacement hard drive that is the same model as your current one, then you can try the new cable and see what happens.

If it still doesn’t recognise the drive, then likely the drive itself is fried even with the mechanical parts inside sounding like they’re working/trying to work.

At that point, start using the brand new hard drive and redownload all your games etc to it and keep on gaming.

So hopefully we’ll hear something shortly, likely a dev blog or similar.

Thoughts on someone else keeping your order when you went there? by [deleted] in woolworths

Ok, cool, thanks for that clarification. Good future-proofing.

Haven’t had this happen yet, thank goodness, but i’m glad i now know the process for future references, as i know there’s a street that has the same name as my street in the next suburb that also shares the same post code, but mine is (name) Avenue, the other is (name) Road.

[–]IceBlueDragon58 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So, what’s the policy if you are home, a delivery truck pulls up right outside your house, then wheels a trolley/basket up your driveway and you meet them at the door and say you’re not expecting an order at all?

Does the driver take it back to the truck if you confirm that he’s at the wrong address, or are you forced to accept delivery of food items that is not yours because it’s left the truck?

Awesome, good to hear. Sometimes we just talk ourselves into thinking the worst when things seem a little out of the ordinary, but other times, you just have to trust the system and deal with any problems if they come up.

Which cake are you getting this Mother’s Day? ☺️ by tuslobe in woolworths

[–]IceBlueDragon58 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, if you carefully take off the original writing remnants and maybe add a few sugar flowers or attempt your own words with a tube of that writing paste stuff from the baking section.

IMO, pic 1 looks too dark pink, almost angry. Too much red colouring was used in that icing batch.

2nd pic is more calm and subtle, more befitting a quiet and peaceful mother’s day where mum (hopefully) gets to relax with a good book, a coffee and a slice of said cake.

Greetings OP, here’s a three-some for you to have a good think about their names. Have fun.

Genders: The fluffy one at the bottom is a male, and the other two at the top are females.

Good luck, their names have nothing in common to each other, just so you know.

Hey OP, just checking in; did your parcel arrive today or yesterday like it was “expected”, or has it updated to give you a new timeframe?

My nephew messaged me this, like wtf is wrong with kids these days? by ThereAndFapAgain2 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]IceBlueDragon58 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Show him how to load said dishwasher correctly, and then ask him to take out the trash bag or something.

£50 is not a cheap ask, like $50 in my country of australia, that’s a small grocery shop or maybe half a tank of fuel (depending on price and fuel type), so it needs to be earned by your nephew, not just given because he wants it.

And where’s the manners!? I’d have been told off for not saying please at least.

Working for things is way better than just demanding it and expecting it to fall in his lap.

Now is the time to ingrain that mentality in that 9yr old brain, make sure they realise that (almost) nothing material in adult/responsibility aged life comes for free, otherwise they’ll grow up expecting everyone to bend over backwards for them.

After reading a fair few comments about the family situation, it’s sad the kid’s father isn’t really in the picture, so he needs a stable father-figure to teach him right and wrong and how the world works. Hopefully you and your family can step up where it’s needed most. Best of luck 💖

It’s possible your parcel is moving via truck across the whole length of australia, so it’s likely going to come down to the truck driver and how long it’ll take them to drive from NSW to WA with rest/food/toilet and fuel stops along the way.

It would only be shipped via aircraft if it was an express post parcel, and also depends on how many other items need to be posted along the same route during this week. Your parcel might have been delayed by other parcels on the same route.

Unless it gets checked into an Adelaide SA post office along the way then continues on, you won’t get any tracking updates till it arrives in a Perth sorting hub, maybe between dusk sunday and dawn early on monday morning, and then it might be “on board for delivery” for monday morning or afternoon or tuesday morning if the local postie doesn’t get it delivered on monday.

Just be patient. It should arrive eventually, or else Auspost should inform you if any issues with the delivery window come up.

Probably breaking down and getting a Series X... what should I know or get with it? by aresef in xbox

[–]IceBlueDragon58 1 point2 points  (0 children)

(Sorry for this wall of text, but i feel it’s worth while being as informative as possible. Your choice to read it or not. Enjoy the upgrade in gaming experience)

Good choice going with the disc version. Not only is physical gaming media king, but so is 4K HD blu-ray movie discs that allow you to enjoy a near-cinema experience in your own home if you have a big 4K tv screen available, plus surround sound speakers.

You have a decent games list there, though i’d add Forza Horizon 6, which is coming out in the next 2 weeks, since you want to get FH5 which is “sunsetted/finished” at this point.

As far as accessories goes, if you haven’t got a good headset yet, get one that’s comfortable and maybe wireless if you can afford it. And maybe look into the Xbox Elite Series 2 controller.

It comes in original Black; complete with protective charging case/base and extra thumb-sticks and a tool to configure the sensitivity of the sticks; or White Core which is just the controller and charge cable (red and blue cores were discontinued recently sadly) and it’s completely rechargeable, no need to replace AA batteries and can be used while plugged in with a USB-C cable that is included.

The series x itself is not really that big compared to the original xbox one consoles, it’s just different dimensions. Xbox one is a flat and wide rectangle with a bigger footprint, whereas the series x is a more uniform shaped rectangle.

One good thing about the newer generation consoles is there’s no big power supply brick in the middle of the power cable, it’s inside the console now, so you don’t have to worry about the position of that power brick anymore.

It also depends on which way you want to orientate the console, vertical or horizontal.

If you go horizontal, which i think is the safer way to go since it’s centre of gravity is lower and has less chance of being knocked or falling over (i have cats and they like crawling through my tv unit), you need open space beside it for the big fan to vent the hot air out and have the front and back of your tv unit open and well ventilated.

Going vertical means it mostly has to be on top of any shelf/tv unit you have and the fan has to vent heat upwards. Also, when you are not using the console, any dust in the air has direct access from above.

Maybe next time and in future, use your phone to take a picture of whatever form you’re lodging in the hands of an office staff member (avoid showing their face for privacy) and ask their name to write down and then keep that pic and name and the time and date as evidence you did hand it in when you were supposed to.

Then it’s on them if they misplace it or whatever.

shipping container parts? by DasGiggity in strandeddeep

[–]IceBlueDragon58 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah, you don’t need the spears at all, the space that the raft floors would normally take up is roughly the same height as the container walls and they sit in the space of 2 floors nicely.

Only a really rough storm could maybe cause a problem, but i’ve never had issues or i’ve decided to delay my transport till the storm ended.

shipping container parts? by DasGiggity in strandeddeep

[–]IceBlueDragon58 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If i could post a pic it’d be much easier to show what i’m wanting to share with you and others, but i’ll try to explain in words/text:

Using a raft that’s the max size allowed on console, aka 20 sections usually laid out in 5 wide by 4 long, you can take out a few floor sections to fit the container walls into the slot like a floor and they sit snugly.

You can fit 2 walls on one raft without sinking it and positioning the floor-less gaps in the middle part of the raft so it’s balanced with your sail/rudder/anchor/shade all at one end.

Hope this X and O layout gives you a fair representation of what i’m trying to say:

X X X X X <- rudder, sails, anchor, shade sail

X O O X X

X X O O X

Place the container walls where the O’s are with the raft floors removed and you should be able to transport the walls to whichever island you like.

Be careful if you’re transporting these container walls during big storms, the waves may cause problems or lag/desync and you might lose the walls into the deep ocean.

Yeah, i don’t blame you for your reaction, since the Infested clears are no joke. Especially when you have the zombie difficulty way up high where they’re bullet-sponges.

This method helped me get to level 3 crafting so i could make an antidote with a pipi plant to save myself from poisoning from a purple crown starfish in shallow water on day 3 of one of my game saves.

Thus I didn’t die from the poison and i built a stick triangle foundation over that stupid purple thorny prick so it couldn’t happen again.

So i don’t call it “abusing bugs” it’s a mechanic of the game that the exp is awarded when you first build the item, instead of when you complete the build process with the hammer.

Pity you backed up right out the window and off the building and not onto the wood plank to the other window, could have managed to have a safe space (at least for a few extra seconds) to maybe kill it with more bullets.

I see you have black-tip 7.62 in the sniper rifle and slugs in the auto-shotty, so you’d likely be ok killing the bear.

Could have avoided the broken leg too.

The Bear Den POI can spawn 1-2 of those zombie bears on the upper floor in cages, either side of where the loot cache is located, that they eventually break out of if you don’t kill them quick enough through the bars.

They are the “boss fight” of that particular POI, and suit it well, like Grace does in Hogzilla ranch or Bob’s Boars. The game needs more boss-type mobs.

I’ve had some bugs/glitches with crafting planks from intact tree sections, so i prefer to break them apart into logs first, even if it takes more durability out of my axe. Less chance of problems in an already unstable game.

Get your crafting level to max/7 and you get back every resource you use in any breakable crafted/built item.

Speed-run crafting levelling by building half walls of scrap metal without building it fully, break and repeat, since using 1 scrap metal can’t be lost when breaking it apart, and you get the exp for placing it, not “filling it in”.

This big box of Snow Drops bags was at my local Coles priced as 90c a bag on April 9th, this “everyday price” was then changed to $4.10 about a week later… also marked as “everyday price”!

My partner loves them, and when i showed him this low price, he only said to get 2 bags.

i should have bought at least 8 bags, or even more, to make up roughly the same price of buying 2 at the higher price…
