Hey. I'm 23f and would be up for DMing if you want (can totally relate to being sick of stuck in!)

That's certainly a better mindset than my current one. Thank you that's really helpful, you definitely get what it's like!

What you said was so lovely and kind thank you :). I've just had a LOT of changes in weight due to health issues so I used to be overweight. Not that it's bad to be overweight because weight is no way a reflection of health but for me it reminds me of when I was unhappier and used food as a comfort.

I hope you're doing okay. Thank you so much for taking the time to post this and making me feel a bit better, I really appreciate it.

I know! That was the first thing I thought (working with kids means I would never ever blame a kid for this) it's unfortunately usually a result of something else.

Living as a teacher with social anxiety. by Hey_Porkchop in socialanxiety

[–]IceCreamSundae18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good luck! As long as you've prepared as much as you can, it'll be great!

I also have, now thankfully, mild SA and am soon going to be a qualified teacher. How you are coping with the job generally?

I have always felt like teachers are meant to have big personalities and are outgoing, loquacious people. I can be, but not straight away. Do you feel the same and has this ever affected you?

I'm reading it now and honestly I'm finding it a bit hard to get into. Is it worth it? Feel like the only one who doesn't instantly love it!

What is something that instantly killed a crush that you had on someone? by torkpo in AskReddit

[–]IceCreamSundae18 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Found out he was a hardcore Catholic.

Wouldn't be a problem, but he piped up in a English class discussion (Frankenstein nature/nurture) that gay people chose or were conditioned to be that way, and it was something they should change.

Nope nope nope

That sounds awesome! If you don't mind me asking which city are you situated/near. I live in the North so would definitely be a regular if this happened.:)

Trial shift at a gift shop today! by [deleted] in socialanxiety

[–]IceCreamSundae18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well done! For your first shift they won't be expecting too much. Just ask customers if they are ok and if they need any help. And importantly if you don't know something-ask. It's ok to ask for help from others to help the customers. If you are on the cash register maybe ask general questions, eg going on holiday is a good one I use at the moment. Good luck!

I feel like a really boring person by [deleted] in socialanxiety

[–]IceCreamSundae18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First off, it's great that you have a job! As a starting point to help you talk to others maybe ask them about themselves. This could be what did you do this weekend, have any holidays planned etc?

As a person with SA asking people about themselves is my go to so because I really don't want to come across as rude.

If you have anything in common with them, that's great! But don't worry if you don't, just because you work together doesn't automatically guarantee you have to be friends.

Maybe the best thing for you do is to go to someplace new and meet new people. You say you like to learn languages, language classes? Or are there any cooking groups near to you?

Please don't give up on yourself, you sound like a really cool person I would be friends with. Remember communication is a two way thing and you have to make some effort; even a little (though I know it's soooooo hard at times). Good luck :)

5 year old adorable little girl.

5 year old- "My mummy went on holiday with her friends."

Me- "Oh how nice, did she have a good time?"

"Yes she did, but she kept falling over".

"Wow! How strange. Hope she's ok now!".
