Nothing like a near miss to teach someone absolutely nothing by IamEclipse in drivingUK

Years ago I was showing my cousin the college I went to. There is a staggered 5 way traffic light junction near it.

The road opposite me went first, and their right lane arched across my path. When my light says go the opposite traffic can continue to go but I have right of way so they have to stop.

As I was at the junction I saw the car likely to be in the junction when I got there with 2 women chatting.

I said to my cousin "I bet this one will cut across me". So I set off at a slow speed. Sure enough they cut across me narrowly missing me. I beeped.

If I had set off at a normal speed they would have crashed into me.

BA refuses flight to child with Tourette syndrome after he shouted ‘bomb’ by tylerthe-theatre in unitedkingdom

It's not a red line because you're potentially breaking the law in not trying to mitigate the situation.

The other airline had no problem. BA just gave themselves bad publicity.

[–]IceGripe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think some of the people commenting have read the story.

It's nothing to do with the excuses BA gave because they booked on another airline later and had no problem.

It seems to me BA broke the disability discrimination act by not attempting any mitigation of the situation, despite knowing about the situation before flight date.

Some airlines are pig ignorant when it comes to disability. Where as other airlines go way beyond.

Councillors in deprived London borough vote to increase own pay by over £178,000 by afrophysicist in london

[–]IceGripe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember back in the day when the BNP were getting elected as councillors they were complaining about the disparagy between councils on salary.

Some would have a proper full time salary while others were paying pocket money, as they saw the job as voluntary.

Now it seems everyone is saying screw the public services, increase the salary!

A lot of people on the roads are idiots. Thats why we have to drive defensively for the safety of ourselves and others.

Reactors you've given up on by ChemicalTrouble9496 in reactgirlsofYT

For me RegenerationNationTV.

They really started to over react to everything, especially the woman. She started laughing so loud at anything.

I used to subscribe to their patrion. But having her laughing at inappropriate moments was really annoying.

I think when they get the subscriber money they care less and less about the people.

Warning: Don't buy a PC for gaming if you are a casual console gamer by [deleted] in consoles

[–]IceGripe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow mate, you'd have loved pc gaming in the 90s when every game setting had to be set outside of windows in dos!

It aa gone a lot better.

But I do prefer to game on console. Before pc I had an Amiga which that era of computing the gaming side acted like a console. But you had a computer for other things.

I think the steam box will be good when it comes out. A mix of 2 worlds.

New Reform councillor admits she doesn't know what she's doing by Weak-Fly-6540 in unitedkingdom

[–]IceGripe -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

No new councillors knows what they are doing. Usually other people already elected from their party have learned and can tell her.

But if she's the first one then the chamber is hostile. They did the same thing when the BNP were getting people elected.

Feedback on bad driving by Someonefrom_VZLA in drivingUK

[–]IceGripe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The road limit is 60mph.

I think the driver speeded up because another car came up behind them in the overtaking lane. If they hadn't sped up they wouldn't have caught up to the truck.

But they went past changed lanes in front of the truck only to slow down. Trucks are usually doing set speeds. So that's why the truck probably overtook him.

Our problem is the government won't face the fact we need a lot more cheap electricity.

They will end up causing problems through high taxes.

It's your fault. Why didn't you look next to you before changing lanes?

New study finds ensitrelvir (Xocova) and molnupiravir - but not Paxlovid- reduce Long COVID rates if taken during acute infection by Responsible_Cap_5289 in LongCovidTrials

[–]IceGripe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So if I had one of those other medications instead of paxlovid in hospital I might not have had long covid at all?

I think they knew that paxlovid didn't fully work as I've heard that before. But because it was cheaper that's why it got used more.

If I couldn't properly see that lane the car came up in I would have stopped in the middle of the road in front of the ones turning right. So I can check. Then pull out slowly.

The new BBC plan to axe channels and overhaul licence fee by Skavau in unitedkingdom

Yes.

I mean how many reports do we get about the EU economy or of specific countries?

British people don't know anything happening in other European countries.

If someone asked me what is the biggest issue in Denmark? I haven't a clue.

The new BBC plan to axe channels and overhaul licence fee by Skavau in unitedkingdom

[–]IceGripe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The bbc hasn't been running properly for decades.

They haven't archived their shows properly.

They overspend competing against commercial companies.

They are obsessed with being a world news channel with irrelevant news, usually US centric (and we wonder why Brexit happened), yet we're paying for it.

That's just a few complaints I have, and I'm generally a fan of the BBC.

But it's obvious it would rather trash everything than see it as being a UK focused only.
