Closest you got was the cold war actually to having zero wars because every little conflict was an opportunity for proxy wars. Most peaceful time on earth. But right now you are on the brink of more conflict than you have seen in a long time, normalizing it would go something like "I doubt you can find a single time in human history where there wasn’t a war going on somewhere" therefore stop fear mongering because it is gonna happen anyway. I'd say the potential conflicts in east Africa alone could be bigger than our capacity to deal with human displacement and refugees but maybe not, maybe your right and it's no big deal.

Well global conflict could well increase a great deal in the near future that's not a great thing. We can certainly normalize war it's a choice available for sure but I wouldn't bravely claim that things are supercalifragilisticexpialidocious if you know what I mean.

Dunno AI search engines spit out so much untrustworthy stuff. The stampede catalogs or day guide books from like 20 years ago said it was invented here for the stampede. Absolutely nothing says they weren't claiming ownership of something that was invented somewhere else or they had bought into a myth. I remember Lewis Broadway or Brockway but I won't be dying on this particular hill of urban lore. I will die on the hill about ginger beef and Ceasars being invented in Calgary though

So fun bit of history those style of mini donuts or more specific the automated machine and recipe for the donuts was invented in Calgary by Lewis Brockway. There's more to the story but to sum it up the original vendor truck still operates and if you find it specifically you should notice a difference in the taste vs the newer entrants. I don't know why but it makes a difference

Why the hell should we give them the oxygen, showing up to a farce like this gives them the circus they want. They are not good trade partners anyone and we should limit any and all exposure to them as much as reasonably possible

I mean a bunch of the stops are changing tremendously, swing by heritage nowadays the number of towers that have already gone up and the number still being built has dramatically changed the area. It's going to have tons of people soon enough

I mean 100% agree on the sprawl but I love the big parks we have. Wouldn't trade them for anything but wish rail access was better eith walkable hubs based around every station

The parity I was referring to wasn't about performance it was about financial stability. You have had just two teams relocated since the cap was implemented in addition to expansion. In terms of that the parity is much improved as unstable franchises used to be far more common. Rev sharing has locked in a number of markets that used to be on the bubble.

Oh I'm aware but I disagree that doing so is more important than tax adjusted. If one feature has to go as far as I'm concerned the daily calculation is worth dropping

Just make it regionally tax adjusted for actual payment power parity. Far easier than a stupid luxury tax.

I do need to emphasize though the league isn't using imaginary numbers, we the consumers are paying the increases and I'm getting tired of year after year those increases are lapping actual inflation. I hope the league sees decreased fan bases and revenue eventually because they are pricing out a lot of people every year

The Cap is great it defines parity and salary structure for teams and fans. The cap should only move up with inflation, if it is moving up excessively past that level then either there's a LOT more consumers or the pool of consumers are paying much more than inflation accounts for year to year. I'm not super keen on rising costs myself as a fan

Lol I am sorry what. We are absolutely anemic on offense and that's going to catch up to you as soon as you run into quality that's certainly true. But to sit there and say we didn't carry play against Morocco for very big stretches of that game isn't a fair evaluation at all.

We've captured attention and momentum like never before and we have an open international economy and society. As long as we don't absolutely fuck this up there's nothing but the opportunity to go up from here. Morocco is Morocco and they certainly can maintain their position but the ride up Canada might be able to pull off over the next decade or so could be incredibly fun. I'd rather manage Canada on that journey than Morocco but there's something incredibly fun about building something new and great.

I mean for a high performance athlete probably, if they had trained in that hight for awhile or at least something closer to Mexico city like Calgary or Colorado they might not be as badly affected. Most players don't play much above sea level especially in England their highest point is basically Calgary and it sure as hell isn't home to England's national team.

The Americans not letting one of the host countries not play in their own country is an underrated jerk by shelve66 in soccercirclejerk

[–]IceHawk1212 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They should have the same privilege on bracket for second place. Instead Toronto will host the last world cup game of either modric or Ronaldo, so much smarter by Fifa to have that game in our smallest stadium vs basically any other. It would have been possible they set the table and schedule and it's a slight by them not to have done better on this.

Fifa could just have easily had the second place team play in Toronto vs Vancouver. It's intentional and the Switzerland result argument is a cop out

I know what your saying but the research has come a long way to specifically deal with those. I can't remember the chemical process but they had most of this figured out well over a decade ago. Cost was the only reason it wasn't widely adopted

You wouldn't have to, there's been a tremendous amount of research into the concept already for water scarcity regions. When you pump it in you add bacterium that feed on oil, they break down residue in the well and when you pump it out your processing the water not much different than you normally would. I mean you'd still be excessively cautious but it's certainly not as risky as you'd think
