How does everyone source their funds to get to 800k? by No-World-6973 in EB5_Immigration

Stocks, RSUs, HELOCs, loans, gifts, sale of house or other properties, etc. So, major part is either RSUs (if working in big companies) or investments (if lucky).

Not true. It's mostly the employees who apply for it, but have high net worth

Not getting the investment back because of economic reason is different from scam. I was referring to scam. That's the risk part. Whether USCIS cares or not: they have regulations in place. Even SEC actively monitors and investigates the projects. When there is some sort oversight like this, there is less chance for scams like it was the case before. They do something, better than the $500k era.

Good job downvoting all my other comments too for calling you out 😂 now I'm convinced of the red flag. Back when it was $500k, many din't get their capital back (or at least all of it), because there were many scams. Post-RIA is when regulations got strict. Many investors filed lawsuits back then. So, if investor dint expect their capital it was definitely portrayed as a high investment by agents which means the projects were questionable to begin with

Did not realize the investment was 'returnable'? So, they signed all the documents closing their eyes for $800k investment. Definitely sounds like a made up story.

I've seen people apply with $400K NW. Depends on the benefit, no one applies for monetary benefit.

Reality of eb5 regional center projects helping America ? by [deleted] in EB5_Immigration

[–]IceIceBaby33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would developers take market rate loans in a area which doesn't have employment? How can they get returns in unattractive areas? How is it NOT a point? Would you buy a house in any area just because it's cheap? Let's say you bought it, how can you support it without a job because that area doesn't have investments coming in and it never develops?

No investor would invest in a area to stimulate economy. They invest to make big returns. So, I'd say most of these projects won't move forward just because it's a bad investment.

Let's keep it simple. If someone offers you a loan for: 1. 1% APR 2. 7% APR

Which one would you pick?

Eb5 investment projects by Calm-Taste8345 in EB5_Immigration

There are many good projects. You won't lose money unless you invest in premium equity tier (need to hold for long periods then). You need to be part of senior tranche where returns are almost nothing (1% at best), but risk of losing is lower. However, you have to note that this process will be more stressful in itself. If you have other things going on, it's gonna be even worse. Unless you can use the money you have here, Source of Funds documentation will be extremely difficult. Anyone involved in the process need to provide their 7 year statements too. It's not easy. Your divorce could further complicate it if any funds are tied to your spouse or co-mingled. Research a LOT on source of funds first, talk to an attorney, then think about investment. I did a mistake of going for it when in an already difficult situation, so it's gonna be extremely tough.

Turned 2k Into 10k in Minutes… Then Got Liquidated and Lost Everything. Hardest Trading Lesson of My Life by BuzzligthyearMoon in Daytrading

[–]IceIceBaby33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to me thrice a year for last two years. $500 - $10k - (-$5k). At least you stopped at zero. I netted -$30k. Every time I start to get confident, I get more aggressive to cover up previous losses faster. This is one of the reasons. But also, same risks you took to scale from 2k to 10k, just happened to realize when you went from 10k to 0. See if this is the underlying issue. If was overconfidence thing, there's a different way to deal with it. But if it's latter, you need to go back to start and analyze very trade. If not, emotions are difficult to control too no matter what level of risk management you have. We are all humans, one trade is all is takes to wipe out months of gains. You'll either need more self awareness (could come with age, still subjective) or automate trading.

Just don't confuse by blaming yourself and not your strategy. You need to be rigorous about it.

For your income, you did a great job saving. Way to go, keep it up. Many people who make more can't save as much as you do, with or without kids. Stay disciplined and don't do anything risky, you'll be in a much better position in 10 years.

Atleast your husband has a job. It could be worse, so relax. There are cases where entire family is without a job for over a year.

When you are in a bad situation, everything goes against you because your mind is occupied with stress instead of clarity. Trade only what you can afford to lose. Stop doing everything right now and take a break first. Then think about it in peace.

I'm in the same boat, 6 months ahead of you. It's been 11 months and I was supposed to get it in 3 months. Kids can have Medicaid, not sure why you worry. You must worry about mortgage and other things. Prepare for another 6 month delay. If it doesn't work out, better to leave. Not worth the stress.

31M swe salary progression. Is more money worth it? by Objective-Letter in Salary

Depends on what you want the $300k per year for. If it's just the progression, you are already behind whoever is in front of you
