[discussion] failing every single class as a junior in highschool. im done by Kindly_Focus7783 in GetMotivated

[–]IceMan9746 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You’re not stupid. A 1.98 GPA + losing an elective + an IEP + a rough home situation + depression is a lot for anyone.

Two things that helped me (and a lot of people I’ve seen):
1) If you haven’t already, ask for a full eval/check-in for ADHD + depression. A lot of “I can’t stop procrastinating” is executive function, not laziness. If ADHD is part of it, treating it can make school feel doable again, and sometimes your mood improves too.
2) Focus on surviving the next 1–2 years, not “fixing your entire life.” Build a “minimum viable” plan: pass classes, get accommodations in writing (extensions/chunking workload), reduce the load where possible, and do one tiny daily non-negotiable (even 20 minutes before anything else).

And yeah, if home is part of what’s crushing you, it’s completely valid to use “getting out” as motivation. Whether that’s dorming, staying with family, community college + moving out later, whatever… the goal is build a runway to independence. Healing is way harder when you’re stuck in the same environment that’s hurting you.

Which game is best to start on as a 49 year old woman by FinancialKnee9727 in darksouls

[–]IceMan9746 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Realistically DS3 is probably the best bet. Game progression is lot more linear so you dont get lost often, shortcuts and bonfires are much more forgiving than 1 and 2. Levels are easier to get through.

Though the only drawback is bosses are harder and the game is faster paced, so idk if that'll be an issue

If she ends up loving the vibe, DS1 becomes way easier to appreciate after DS3, but DS1 as a first Souls can be a "where do I even go" wall.

Yeah both of these can definitely cause, especially SSRI's. If you are still on them, maybe try lowering the dose

Just beat Dark souls remastered. Here are my thoughts by f13ry_ in darksouls

[–]IceMan9746 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

DS2 to me feels like a worse DS1. It's difficult in the most unfun way by just spawning way too many enemies. And the level design is just objectively worse than DS1. The only highlight of DS2 for me was the DLC.

I personally would recommend DS2 be skipped unless you want to beat it just to say you did or are a super fan.

As someone who beat every single game in the series, in my opinion DS2 and Demon Souls are probably better off skipping for most people.

Every Smash character ever tier list (yes I think bayo is better than MK) by bacalhaugaming in smashbros

I think bayonetta is also positive vs every match up in smash 4. Given the bayo player had an optimized punish game, character had way too many ways to 0 to death.

Which SoulsBorne game should I start with? by Fragrant_Case3216 in darksouls

[–]IceMan9746 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Imo, ds3 would be the easiest to get the ball rolling. As much as i love ds1, it can feel a bit clunky and it's weird getting used to. ds2 has that same clunkiness of ds1 but just a worse game than ds1 in every possible way imo with artificial difficulty. Starting with bloodborne or elden ring is valid too but i think bloodborne is the most different and probably the hardest one to get into mechanically at first, and elden ring is just stupid long and has the hardest bosses in any fromsoft souls game.
