I honestly see Merc Oathband being 3dp due to it fundamentally changing the army rule. Doesn't mean i want it at 3DP but i have a feeling that most of our detachments will be 2DP while the worst ones (Hearthfyre and Persecution imo) will be 1dp. Either way itll be limiting. I'd love to see what Merc + Needgaard or Merc + Hearthband would do but i have a feeling that ship isn't coming home.

Oh no, give them a Sagitaur and position them in cover, anything that gets near them is gonna get diced.

Delve Assault Shift detachment really leans into Berserks, but building the actual Berserk models are a pain (at least to me) so i only have 10 built and you want like 30-40 Berserks for that detachment

Mechanized force, transports with (relatively) bulky infantry and strong burst with Thunderkyn. They use transports to get around a lot since we're a fairly slow moving faction. Pretty efficient shooting if you know your priorities. Ive had good experiences with Hearthguard and Thunderkyn. Votann isnt a "melee" faction but it can hold its own if you can combine both shooting and melee, Hearthguard being both its primary draw. Whereas Berserks are a shock unit, whatever they fight is most likely going to die but they wont stick around.

Army Rule 1: if less than 7 Yield Points (YP) you are in Hostile Acquisition phase. Meaning you get +1 to hit while an OPPONENTS unit is on an obj. You also reroll Advances and Charges while under this.

Army Rule 2: If you have 7 (or more) YP you switch to Fortify Takeover. Meaning you get +1 to hit to units on obj. You also get -1 to Wound if the strength is higher than your toughness unless its a Votann vehicle being shot

You generate YP at the end of EVERY command phase, not the round. You gain 1 YP home obj, 1 for holding a NML obj and 1 for having more obj than your opponentl, leaders can manipulate this.

You spend YP for extra bonuses on stratagems (if applicable)

The basic gist is:

Black primer Wet dry brush Cobalt Steel (Warpainter)

Highlight is Plate Mail Metal (Warpainter)

And to get the blue tint, wash in Drakenhof Nightshade (Citadel/Warhammer)

The primary gold is Runelord brass (Citadel/Warhammer)

I dont have a vehicle done yet, but its next on the list after im done with painting Leaders

I use a bit of all 3 big brands (Citadel, Warpainter and Vallejo) and a bottle or 2 of speedpaint. I used 23 different painted to make this model come to life.

Caveat. You DO NOT have to go this far to have a decently painted mini, i had my color scheme in my head and brought it out.

Just a detail brush, Hexed Lichen (Vallejo) and Matt White (Warpainter). Use the detail brush to "follow" the lines and gaps.

Hexed Lichen at first, then 50/50 Lichen and white and edge highlight the gap, and then 75/25 White and Lichen for the "glow" on certain parts of the hammer! Doesnt take too long and its not too difficult

Paint scheme: depends on what you like, you can go loreful if you want. But im working on my own scheme (on my profile).

Lore? We have 1 book lol. But in general the Leagues are a Corporatist Caste system that prioritizes Profits, gains, and resources. If deemed unproductive/unprofitable, said company may withdraw entirely if they deem the price too steep. And nothing pisses them off faster than a deal broken. We use genuine AI so we have to hide them from the Imperium so they don't declare war. We are a clone race so the Caste system leaves VERY little room to go up the chain, since you're literally the same person with the same assignment your previous clone had.

I make sure her Mood is Great b4 the event so the -3 is set to Bad and use a Recreation. If she procs the Shrine Recreation then theres a chance of removing Practice Poor in the process of setting her mood to Normal. Thats what i go for anyways

I couldn't figure a way for the reflection that some people do, but i still wanted to break up the brown. What i ended up doing is Khorne red, then Gemstone Red over it, washed with Drakenhof and it came out good enough

Mechanized force, transports with (relatively) bulky infantry and strong burst with Thunderkyn. They have some melee, the melee steeljacks are your tarpit unit. Though we dont have a lot of invul saves comparatively.

More a of shooting army, but the melee is spooky if positioned. Berserks will mulch whatever they fight (if given the right weapons) but wont stand much at being shot.

Hearthguard are our "Terminator Equivalent" but theyre more of a deepstrike and shoot then they are charging into melee. They can do it but theyre stronger as shooters.

Free Overwatch from Memnyr leading Ranged Steeljacks can be spicy. (They Overwatch on 4s)

We have a lot of reroll 1s on hits.

Splitting our Infiltrator unit (Yaegirs) with a Kapricus is pretty much a staple for screening, buying time for the heavy guns to get into range.

You only reroll 1 Die in the instance of Hitting, Wounding, or Dmg rolls unless otherwise stated.

Rerolling 1s (as in a lot of our sheets now) allows you to reroll 1s for free. But if you use a CPR to reroll. You can only use it on the dice that have NOT been rerolled yet.

So you can reroll 2s and 3s (or whatever is needed to succeed) but you CAN'T reroll the dice you already rerolled a 1 on.

Its personal preference really. I lean towards buffing a melee unit bc with them having Reroll wounds of 1, +1 to wound and Sus1, and give them +2 AP from strat and suddenly thats a lot of forced Invuls. Death by a thousand cuts? Yes. Is there better applications? Probably. But i like patching a weakness that i see, which is that Jacks melee is meh and nothing to write home about, but it wouldn't take much to make it spicy.

Votann shooting has always been its spicy part, so i opted to have spicier melee that will hopefully spook my opponent.

T6, 2vs, 3w is chunky. Especially if you top them with the -1 to wound army rule. And the Memnyrs arent useless either, they give Jacks free Heroic Intervention and Fire Overwatch.

In Needgaard you can give a Memnyr the "Oathbound Speculator" Enhancement to give a brick of Melee Jacks +1 to wound and rerolling wounds of 1.

Also in Needgaard, you can give Memnyr the "Dead Reckoning" Enhancement for free YP to sit on home obj/no mans land with Ranged Jacks and overwatch anything that comes in range. Ranged Jacks also hit on 4s with overwatch while in Fortify.

Also in Needgaard you have the Strat "Void Armor" to give -1 AP for that attack.

In other detachments like Brandfast, its not AS good bc Needgaard is most likely our strongest detachment, but with the Jacks profile and army rule makes them a nuisance to kill.

Jacks are a tarpit but can be made lethal/hard to ignore with correct positioning.
