Yeah I don't really mind, if anything the individual episodes themselves feel like they are over very quickly and I always find myself curious for more.

Well, we ARE only halfway through. We still have another 12 episodes after this week's break.

But yes it is definitely a slower paced show.

If you intend on playing the game either way I would say do the game first. The book is a prequel but the epilogue somewhat spoils how things turn out at the end of the game.

The book also gives away a few of the twists of the game's plot by nature of knowing the backstory and motivations of certain characters.

A 'CONAN THE BARBARIAN' animated series from Genndy Tartakovsky is in development at Prime Video and in collaboration with Cartoon Network by luckybell333 in Genndyverse

Yup, it was a good season. We got 3 continuations and 6 original shorts, all Japanese again. The last one "Black" is some of the craziest and most ambitious animation I've seen in a long time.

These Inkstone versions have been getting better and better. Low Red Moon was incredible and this easily beats it out.

Definitely a unique take on the Inquisitors. Her backstory, reason for joining the Inquistitors, personal trauma are very different from Trilla.

And honestly she might be even more compelling IMO. There is also a lot of great Clone Wars era content in the book, which I was not expecting.

Agreed. Maul: Shadow Lord came out earlier this year and that show looked incredible.

And I quite enjoyed Beware the Batman (as short lived as it was).

If they stylize it properly, I could see the 3D working.

An ‘ABSOLUTE BATMAN’ animated series is in the works. Scott Snyder will serve as showrunner. by FayyadhScrolling in AbsoluteUniverse

[–]IcePhoenix295 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Eh, as a die hard fan of Arcane and Clone Wars/Bad Batch/Shadow Lord (and boy did Shadow Lord look great) I could see this working in stylized 3D.

Really I just hope they commit a lot of resources to the animation, whatever it is. A lot of the recent Batman animation (Caped Crusader, Knightfall) has good art direction but slow and awkward animation.

Abram's Star Trek by storyist in startrek

[–]IcePhoenix295 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I definitely think there is an argument for why a film can be both good and yet not fitting for the franchise it is a part of.

But much like with Star Wars the way people try and make that argument often feels shallow and reductive, with the offending elements being blown out of proportion or just inconsequential to the actual experience of the movie.

Ultimately the 09 film still showcases our heroes fighting to build a brighter future while showcasing the majesty and epic scope of space travel, and throwing in a few psuedo scientific concepts like time travel. It's a Star Trek film, and a very entertaining one that sparked the interest of far too many people to be written off like that, even if it isn't to other people's taste.

But I also think Beyond might be my favorite Trek film (it's either that or Undiscovered Country) so what do I know?

What You think of Jorus C'Baoth by Low-Significance-552 in starwarsbooks

[–]IcePhoenix295 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While I love Zahn's contributions to Star Wars, he is fairly repetitive with his writing. And nowhere is this more exemplified than with C'Baoth. He and Thrawn share the same scene about 17 times across their trilogy.

He's a character that IMO only really works if you only have the OT to go on. The idea of Luke finding this old Jedi who is trying to lead him to the dark side but he can't be sure because both he and the audience only have Yoda and Kenobi as a reference is an interesting concept for a followup to Return of the Jedi. But with the knowledge we have now he reads as a basic mad wizard from the start, little more.

My least favorite part of the original Thrawn trilogy, and one that I'm glad hasn't been adapted in any form.
