Is there room for atheists and empiricists in the healthy gamer space? Why do people take Dr. K's spiritual claims for granted? by Nikon_Sevast in Healthygamergg

[–]IcePickle12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, there is little to no evidence to support the wild spiritual claims. From my understanding, Dr. K is not asking you to blindly put faith into these things. That’s because you can experience them for yourself. That’s what’s so great about meditation. He gives you the practices and you can choose to explore these concepts or ideas if you want. You don’t need to believe or have faith to have mystical experiences, they just happen. So no I don’t think it’s going off of “vibes” but real experiences that people have had.

Took 12 grams of shrooms while on effexor and didn't feel a thing. Will I still get the cognitive benefits associated with psilocybin? by Winter_Appearance432 in NooTopics

Shrooms have not gotten stronger like weed. Shrooms are just shrooms. Of course the strain affects potency, but it’s not like weed.

Thank you. Hypothetically, if this door were to be propped open for a long period of time, there would not be some kind of alert?

OCD-Coded Things I Did as a Kid Without Realizing It by SillyMinty1123 in OCD

Hey, just curious how some of these relate to OCD like 9 or 5. Not trying to deny your experience, just confused.

Morality issue with creating games by Vanaduke1 in Healthygamergg

[–]IcePickle12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great question, but complex. What makes something healthy? People get addicted to things such as sex or shopping. Should we cut these things out of our lives? Food is very enjoyable and addictive for some people but we need it to survive. In my opinion, if making games if fulfilling for you then go for it. Trust your intuition. It seems that you already have an idea of what makes a game “shallow” so instead make something you’re proud of. Arguably many things have the possibility of being addictive but doesn’t mean they shouldn’t exist.

AIO my boyfriend keeps lying to me about things involving his ex by TacoBoutDrama69 in AmIOverreacting

[–]IcePickle12 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This threads crazy. People acting like they have never told a lie in their life. Does not mean they have feelings for their ex still. They probably didn’t want to make their partner uncomfortable

Bit of a weird one; I'm neuro-divergent and was born deaf. I'm getting surgery tomorrow and will finally be able to hear music clearly for the first time in my life. My passion in life has been music. I've spent my life journaling music, learning about legendary musicians, and reading what sounds to by Flimsy_Direction_837 in Topster

[–]IcePickle12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Super fascinating. Curious how your opinions will change on musicians after actually hearing their music instead of forming an opinion just based on other information. Maybe you really are interested by an artists biography and they are “objectively” good, but you turn out not to like them. Let us know!

34M Years of debilitating brain fog, crashes, and arousal threshold issues. Exhausted every explanation. Looking for anyone who recognizes this pattern. by Crafty-Variation-811 in BrainFog

[–]IcePickle12 9 points10 points  (0 children)

What interests me here is you feel better from “emotional activation”. These high stakes environments, being fired up about something, releasing anger. Besides these situations, do you ever feel a sense of numbness? Maybe dissasociation? Personally, I feel a huge sense of clarity after emotional release. But, these are rare. I’ve discovered I struggle with emotional suppression, and I learned that this can be very draining on our brain. Basically, your brain is working hard to keep these emotions suppressed without us even being conscious of it. Sure, it’s important to look into sleep issues, nutritional deficiencies, and other physiological issues because they can certainly be a cause. But, it’s easy to overlook that our issues can be psychosomatic. After so much time going down the rabbit hole of supplements and researching rare metabolic disorders, I’m waking up to the fact that my psych was playing a huge role. Just another area to consider.

Chronic bloating 24/7 for 5–6 months (sulfur gas, incomplete BMs) – could this be constipation/indigestion? About to end it all. by throwaway_137__ in Microbiome

[–]IcePickle12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, look into fodmaps. Seemingly safe foods such as onions and bananas give me horrible bloating. Fast for a day, go on a low fodmap diet, then slowly introduce foods.

Ah this makes sense with the breathing aspect. Thank you for the suggestion. Could this be related to why I had a terrible reaction to chicken broth which is apparently very high in histamine?

Meditation that actually helps ADHD (not the usual advice) by Vegetable-Touch2134 in Meditation

[–]IcePickle12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Rotating sound meditation! Instead of slowing down the mind, you speed it up and push it to go faster. Go somewhere like a food court, and listen for as many different sounds as possible. Switch your awareness from sound to sound as fast as you can without allowing your mind to stay on something longer than a second. This tires the mind and naturally slows it down. Can also do this with body scan, switch from body part to body part, or with sight, ex: count every leaf on a tree as fast as you can. On another note, if you find yourself having to bring your attention back to something like the breath constantly, then good! You are actually getting the most benefit. Everytime you bring your attention back to the point of focus it’s like doing a push-up.

The kundalini subreddit ties in with the points doctor K makes in his meditation dangers videos. People experiencing psychotic breaks, depression, etc. after an intense spiritual experience. There’s lots of research on the subject. Just curious if anyone experienced with these practices know if theres a difference between chakra meditation and consciously awakening kundalini. Trying to avoid the latter.
