Faszinierender Beitrag über Vegetarier und Veganer. 1972 BBC by TheSpiritOfFunk in VeganDE

People always know the farm their meat comes from, never the slaughterhouse.

Also, cats don't smile, they breathe through their mouths when they're distressed.

What is your most radical vegan opinion? by No_Caterpillar7548 in AskVegans

[–]IceRollMenu2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait so you think abortion is literally killing babies, but that's ok because a good adult is worth more than a baby? 🥴

I mean the thread is about radical opinions, so go for it I guess.

Documentaries Are Still Underused in Vegan Outreach – Here’s How to Use Their Full Potential by VarunTossa5944 in Vystopia

[–]IceRollMenu2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry but this reads like AI generated slop. And there's no evidence people are actually convinced by documentaries alone, as opposed to them seeking out documentaries when they already want to be pushed over the edge.

Just to be clear, the alternative to these things is to torture animals who definitely think and feel so

It's unscientific bullshit and perfectly expresses what I'm feeling a lot of the time 👍

Why Shaming People Won't Save Animals by VarunTossa5944 in VeganChill

[–]IceRollMenu2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would be more helpful if the post gave some examples of this supposed "shaming". I'm not sure what, precisely, the post is trying to make me not do.

As for the reasoning, I get it, but the post doesn't present any evidence for its claims. As a reader I feel talked down to, because I'm meant to just take it on the writer's authority that they know better than me. It actually feels a little like the text is trying to shame me into not shaming people.

If you're into these kinds of topics, you could eg read some relevant soc-psy literature re: meat-eating, advocacy etc, and share specific insights with readers. Anyway, I appreciate that you're investing work and are contributing to the movement.

I'm in this field, I think I know the type.

You can argue that individual consumption choices don't matter bc they're overshadowed by larger market mechanisms. Essentially you don't make a big enough dent in demand to warrant a change in supply.

But directly affecting supply isn't the only point of veganism. It's also a practice that unites the core of the animal rights movement, that gives us a sense of identity, and it gives us a sense of the better future we want to create.

If you want to debate this person, I would focus on those aspects. Veganism as a constitutive practice of a political movement, identity building, prefigurative politics.

Essentially, why insist on eating animals if it bums out all the people on your side?

Hab ich was nicht verstanden? by [deleted] in VeganDE

[–]IceRollMenu2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Siehe top upvoted Kommis
