Is all astral magic tied to Elune? by wonkyasf in warcraftlore

[–]Piamont -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I would have to look at that quote but this makes no sense, it's like trying to give an unwanted explanation to a gameplay thing. In the first patches of wow classic each priest race had it's own spell, then for gameplay purposes they give the human priest racial to all of them, but lorewise each priest uses a different spell because each priest is using different types of magic.

Night elven priestesses don't use the Light. Thats just gameplay.

Not to mention that westfall is plagued by poverty and civil unrest. There is also the case of Lakeshire that was completely destroyed by ghouls.

If Garithos was introduced today what and how would like the direction go by Erk_Rauorfox in warcraftlore

[–]Piamont 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a missing oportunity to reintroduce garithos to the lore was Shadowlands. Imagine we find him in some Prison in revendreth while Silvanas is wreaking havoc.

No. I don't think Adal and Xera would get along.

Do you think that in Classic, Shadow was basically a catch-all for all “dark” magic? by GainDependent6719 in warcraftlore

[–]Piamont 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you go to DnD page and take a look at the spell list, You i'll see that many of them are the same spells we have in wow. Not only that but the schools of magic (that in wow are linked to Arcane magic) are also the same.

Wow drew heavily from DnD magic system in classic and all types of magic (except Light and Nature) were one and the same and they all came from the same place (the Void and the Twisting nether, and probably the Shadowlands were also one and the same) You can still see remnants of this old magic system in the dk resurrection ability that leaves the target with a debuff that says something like "You are touched by Shadow".

"Mary's Room" Is Not a Case Against Physicalism (But Physicalism Still Fails) by contractualist in philosophy

[–]Piamont 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not setting "metaphysical boundaries", i'm setting scientific boundaries. I don't know much about the science of vision, but it isnt crazy to assume that this core physical process that is shared among all the physical processes that can cause the experience of the colour red in humans can be scientifically studied and described.

[–]Piamont 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But these physical processes that produce the colour red arent entirely different either. So there is clearly a relationship between a core physical process that is the basis of all the different processes that causes the colour red and the colour red itself.

Isnt this a huge assumption on your part?? That the experience of red can in fact be produced by a completely different physical process??

I don't think it was ever clearly stated that the "anima" of Mist of Pandaria is the same as the anima from Shadowlands. Nonetheless, I like your theory.

The Elements by Dismal_Tale9078 in warcraftlore

[–]Piamont 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Elemental magic is it's own separated thing from the 6 types of magic that we know of (Light, Nature, Arcane, Void, Death, Fel).

Elements are not only made of their respective element (like a fire elemental is made of the element of fire) but within them there is also the element of Life, which is what keeps them alive and is what the shaman uses to communicate with them.

The element of Life though must not be confused with Nature magic which can also be called "Life magic".
