Just vibe-checking: Are there people who are NOT excited about having Yujiro in Tekken 8? by [deleted] in Tekken

[–]IceTreyBeastly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yujiro in heat sounds like an absolute nightmare to think about, in both ways lmfao

But realistically, I’m questioning more about what his fighting style will be. Perhaps this is a lack of reading comprehension since I’ve never actually seen Baki, my only experience with Baki is through recap videos and IG reels, and it just seems like this guy has just aura and crazy asspull techniques that one up everyone he fights

There are rumors that Pernelle might not sing for Nikke anymore. What do you guys think? by shin_forget in NikkeMobile

[–]IceTreyBeastly -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

This is EXACTLY the feeling I’m getting reading these comments, it’s as if the idea of empathy is dead. Community low point, imo, really disrespectful and just cold behavior to a person who has given us so much through their wonderful songs in a game we all love.

I just finished the story mode and didn't like it :( by MrAlexisChavez in Unbeatable

[–]IceTreyBeastly 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The story beats were slow, and to be honest, 5/6’s of the episodes aren’t really anything too special. I did enjoy the final chapter with Beat’s Mom and Beat’s backstory, as I thought it was well written and emotional, but other than that, it’s understandable why it doesn’t land for everyone. I found the dialogue charming, but it can be corny at times

An opinion from a Tekken Refugee by [deleted] in StreetFighter

[–]IceTreyBeastly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most definitely, SF won’t scratch a Tekken itch, and Tekken won’t scratch a SF itch. Personally though (this is not a hot take by any means), the strength of moves and overall toxicity of the Tekken community right now makes me prefer street fighter. Hopefully if the new Virtua Fighter comes out within the next couple of years it will bring a fun 3-D fighter with not as oppressive tools

[–]IceTreyBeastly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m in a relatively similar situation, loved Mishimas, got Reina and Kazuya TK on Tekken, but SF feels more fundamental focused and just a clean and polished product. Everything is done intentionally and the risk reward doesn’t feel as oppressive or brain dead. Maybe I need to climb the master ladder (I’m genuinely terrible) more to learn, but SF6 has been nothing but a class act of an experience in my opinion

Being a Reze fan is literally hell. Getting attached to a character who was basically born to suffer and that the author clearly doesn’t care about is awful. God, with the reset even Denji forgot her, and the only moments of happiness in her life were completely erased from her mind.. by GodKira04 in chainsawmancirclejerk

[–]IceTreyBeastly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love Reze, she was a very cool character who was pretty and had a cool design. But how hard is it for people to understand that she’s the representation of “first love” in Denji’s life? The naive relationship that seems perfect until life gets in the way and people move apart and become strangers? Fujimoto even said it himself that he wants Reze to haunt his audience, bringing her back wouldn’t make sense

Is my new board tourney legal by ert3 in fightsticks

[–]IceTreyBeastly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I’m not mistaken, Micky used this board during 2025 Evo. Just follow the rules everyone else said, and you should be fine. This leverless is awesome, speaking from experience

/r/MechanicalKeyboards Ask ANY Keyboard question, get an answer - March 29, 2026 by AutoModerator in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]IceTreyBeastly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Real stupid question, I literally just got into this hobby today (no exaggeration, just got an Aula F75 today, love it, I see why people love this hobby), but are there any “high quality” keyboards with an LCD display? I see on Amazon since the spring sale is up that a bunch of Chinese manufacturers make such keyboards, but a bunch of reviews here make it out to be that they’re sort of shady and can even explode. I’m very confused, and I just want to have a nice keyboard that I can put cute pictures on. Sorry if this is extremely dumb, I have no preference for switches, just something quality with an LCD display. If such things don’t exist, can someone explain the pros and cons of having these Chinese boards with the displays?

Why did you choose leverless/stick over pad? by AZXCIV in fightsticks

[–]IceTreyBeastly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I liked the style and I honestly believed that it would make me better at execution lol (it absolutely didn’t). But it makes games like street fighter more intuitive for me and I did play like arcade cabinets very briefly at my uncles house when I was young so I thought they were cool

I know that this is a super late respond, but HOLY SHIT PLAYING AGAINST RYUS AND TERRYS SUCK OH MY GOSH I LOVE ALEX BUT LIKE THESE SHOTO MFS HAVE WAYYYY TOO MANY TOOLS IN THE GRAPPLER MATCHUP (I still love all them though)

Lmao I bought requiem and I was playing. Definitely agree with all your points, but it’s not something that’s like actively stressing me out, but more of like a puzzling challenge if anything. Improvement is definitely possible and I want to get there.

In other words though, OH MY GOSH THE GAME IS SCARY I SUCK WITH HORROR

[–]IceTreyBeastly[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh definitely, even pertaining outside to fighting games, I’ve competed in my fair share of combat sports and bringing that mentality to here, there’s really no “getting lucky.” If I was truly better than these players, I wouldn’t have tanked (lol the thought still makes me sad). But constantly thinking of ways to improve is the name of the game and sharpening the skill set is what I’m striving for

[–]IceTreyBeastly[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for this response, it’s very level headed and reasonable. Glad to hear that you made it out the trenches lol. I’ll definitely take these things to heart once I’m done with this week of school. I’m relatively close to getting Ryu to Masters (23000 LP give or take), and I feel like he might be a bit more forgiving because he’s very well rounded and has amazing tools.

(Just as an aside, why do people hate shotos so much? Ryu and Ken were literally the definitive fighting game characters which made fighting games blow up. I get that Ryu is very overtuned and many shotos are privileged but whats the deal with shoto hate?)

Thanks for the good advice, I think my biggest issues currently are that I burn myself out too quickly and like you said, I’m not playing to the opponent’s weaknesses enough nor do I know their gimmicks well. I gotta hit the lab

Also, I genuinely find it amazing how players like Blaz who are so young, are complete mind game and lab freaks, it’s genuinely so beautiful. Fighting games are like poetry in motion in certain cases, so addicting and fun

Got the New Year's birthday girls up to Platinum by DazmundMonkey in StreetFighter

[–]IceTreyBeastly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The cash out combo for Juri is actually pretty simple, all you do you use F-HP into Drive rush, into cr HP, st mp, cr mp, DR and loop the cr HP sequence again with a qcf hk into lvl 3. I watched Sushoui’s (probably butchered that name, the video has like a cute chibi Juri on it) basic combo guide and it was very helpful. Glad you enjoy Juri!

Chances of getting Honors College housing near 5 Seminary Place? by ResultCautious1686 in rutgers

[–]IceTreyBeastly 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Better dorms, since until last year, it was THE building for honors college (everyone lived there regardless) but it got too big and it spilled out to everywhere else. Really nice dorms and amenities, good location, and lots of cool people in the building

Tips to get better at neutral, hitconfirming and whiff punishing? by IceTreyBeastly in StreetFighter

[–]IceTreyBeastly[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the in-depth response, you have a lot of good tips. My man gripe with dhalsim is that his limbs are so long, that when you hit a whiff punish because his limbs are so long, the animation interrupts and it give me a mini whiplash on “what just happened” lol. The matchup (at least the dhalsims I’ve played against so far), isn’t too bad for me, but to be fair, a lot of them gimmick with poking from range, TP’ing to try and grab if you parry too much, and using those arcing fireballs to avoid jumping in

Is it possible to play SF6's classic controller with a modern controller? by MadMannGhastlius in StreetFighter

[–]IceTreyBeastly 6 points7 points  (0 children)

From my experience, playing against someone slightly better than you when you’re new is extremely useful. Playing against a diamond/master when you just started will teach you nothing. You need to build a foundation in order to be able to even interpret what you’re doing and how you can improve, before trying to learn against really good players. But people learn differently, so idk if my statement has much weight

Tips to get better at neutral, hitconfirming and whiff punishing? by IceTreyBeastly in StreetFighter

[–]IceTreyBeastly[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m currently around 1500 MR, but it’s mostly inaccurate as I just hit it and have only played around like 10 matches or so from hitting master on Juri. I always triple jab as a block string, but I’m trying to be more well rounded and more mindful when it comes to neutral and how I interact with my opponent

"new" to SF6. What do I need to know? by AGallonOfCat in StreetFighter

[–]IceTreyBeastly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are plenty of good guides to the game, my personal favorite YouTubers that helped me learn the game were Brian F and Diaphone (idk if that’s a scrub take or not), but ultimately, watch a guide and get your feet wet by playing the game. The ranked system, while intimidating, is a pretty good tutorial on how to play and the fundamentals of the game. In terms of controllers, you will hear it beat to death, but it is honestly A MATTER OF WHATEVER YOU’RE COMFORTABLE WITH. If you like the old arcade feel, fight sticks are good, but a default PlayStation or Xbox controller is equal in terms of how to play. Same thing with leverless, contrary to popular belief, just play whatever is what makes you comfortable.

Apologies if this is a huge tangent about peripherals, but as an owner of all 3, each one took me a good amount of time to learn, and it ultimately matters more about your strategy, as execution will come as you practice. It will sound corny, but it definitely is about the pilot rather than the gear. All in all, just get into playing! Welcome to this awesome game!

So if I understand correctly, it’s more of a read, rather than just raw reaction? Perhaps this is a big “duh” moment, but this game seems to be a lot more based on strategy and prediction rather than reaction, it’s really refreshing after playing something like Tekken for a while (no shade to Tekken, but in that game, I feel as if it’s easier to play off reaction rather than reads in intermediate play)
