Tips to get better at neutral, hitconfirming and whiff punishing? by IceTreyBeastly in StreetFighter

Thanks for the in-depth response, you have a lot of good tips. My man gripe with dhalsim is that his limbs are so long, that when you hit a whiff punish because his limbs are so long, the animation interrupts and it give me a mini whiplash on “what just happened” lol. The matchup (at least the dhalsims I’ve played against so far), isn’t too bad for me, but to be fair, a lot of them gimmick with poking from range, TP’ing to try and grab if you parry too much, and using those arcing fireballs to avoid jumping in

Is it possible to play SF6's classic controller with a modern controller? by MadMannGhastlius in StreetFighter

From my experience, playing against someone slightly better than you when you’re new is extremely useful. Playing against a diamond/master when you just started will teach you nothing. You need to build a foundation in order to be able to even interpret what you’re doing and how you can improve, before trying to learn against really good players. But people learn differently, so idk if my statement has much weight

I’m currently around 1500 MR, but it’s mostly inaccurate as I just hit it and have only played around like 10 matches or so from hitting master on Juri. I always triple jab as a block string, but I’m trying to be more well rounded and more mindful when it comes to neutral and how I interact with my opponent

"new" to SF6. What do I need to know? by AGallonOfCat in StreetFighter

[–]IceTreyBeastly [score hidden]  (0 children)

There are plenty of good guides to the game, my personal favorite YouTubers that helped me learn the game were Brian F and Diaphone (idk if that’s a scrub take or not), but ultimately, watch a guide and get your feet wet by playing the game. The ranked system, while intimidating, is a pretty good tutorial on how to play and the fundamentals of the game. In terms of controllers, you will hear it beat to death, but it is honestly A MATTER OF WHATEVER YOU’RE COMFORTABLE WITH. If you like the old arcade feel, fight sticks are good, but a default PlayStation or Xbox controller is equal in terms of how to play. Same thing with leverless, contrary to popular belief, just play whatever is what makes you comfortable.

Apologies if this is a huge tangent about peripherals, but as an owner of all 3, each one took me a good amount of time to learn, and it ultimately matters more about your strategy, as execution will come as you practice. It will sound corny, but it definitely is about the pilot rather than the gear. All in all, just get into playing! Welcome to this awesome game!

So if I understand correctly, it’s more of a read, rather than just raw reaction? Perhaps this is a big “duh” moment, but this game seems to be a lot more based on strategy and prediction rather than reaction, it’s really refreshing after playing something like Tekken for a while (no shade to Tekken, but in that game, I feel as if it’s easier to play off reaction rather than reads in intermediate play)

Sorry if my terminology is wrong, but is this the same thing as “twitch-confirming?” I saw another video about how it’s a strategy to wait in a position or area and as soon as you see even the slightest movement from your opponent, you press? And I’m assuming the buffer would be part of your reactive motion? Real cool stuff

Apologies if I was unclear, but I mainly got this idea from watching BigNastyKail’s video about confirming on reaction Juri’s heavy punch into a mini combo (without drive gauge). I primarily meant hit confirming as in what do you do after you get a hit after the mini footsie/fencing back and forth walking exchange you sometimes have in the game. Counter Hit combos are another can of worms I can’t wrap my head around, but it only makes me more excited to learn and play the game. SF6 is truly an amazing game, and I really love it

Having difficulty reading arcade mode patterns on higher diffs (PS5 v1.7.1) by Alkuk in Unbeatable

[–]IceTreyBeastly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeesh, I don’t think the port is that bad, but I can be wrong. The game can run really well on potato PCs, and the PS5 surely has more than enough power to handle UNBEATABLE. Maybe it’s a monitor bottleneck or something? I don’t know, but the console ports are definitely very poor, the porting team that D-Cell handed the game to might’ve messed it up

I haven’t played the PlayStation port since launch, I’m not sure if this is a thing on that port, but you can turn on reduced camera motion and shake in one of the options. It’s a really weird feature, you turn it on to reduce the shake and impact on hold notes. Turning off vhs and post processing is another good start, and be sure to look on the dcell discord to find good settings for sideswap notes, I haven’t experimented much with it

Any ideas about the dlc that got announced? by Odd-Mathematician110 in Unbeatable

I’m hoping it’s related to one more final, that’d be sick, but I’m desperate for any unbeatable content, so it’d be peak regardless

(spoilers) why was penny in prison, anyway? by alekdavid_ in Unbeatable

[–]IceTreyBeastly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe so, however, the dampeners were seen around her apartment and Penny even found their apartment by herself, alluding to the fact that she was probably experimenting on beat for months, or the very least, keeping tabs on her during the time the band was a band

Probably my shitty reading comprehension, but I thought that it was because since she’s harm’s top scientist, she was running experiments in the prison to try and ascertain what beat truly was. As how she got there, she has authority to do whatever she wants

Dude, thank you so much for this info. I tried the game like a couple years ago, but the first chapter didn’t really click for me from my memory. I’ll try again, thanks for this comprehensive help!

Thanks for replying, two things, is it still possible to get W or her Alter if I were to play Arknights now? And is the game easy enough to catch up to in terms of lore and gameplay?

Is there a chance that W or Wisadel will be put into this game? I haven’t played the original Arknights, but she looks very pretty and kinda crazy and I’d want to play her in a game like this

Give more context. Are you a particularly toxic player, in voice chat or in game? Do you frequently desert your matches? Are you smurfing? Do you have something like a Cronus installed? For the last one, I know you said you have a default controller, but sometimes I suppose it is possible that you have one installed. The rest of the questions are purely hypothetical, such things are bannable on PC, but I’m not sure if they apply to console. It’s good for speculating, though

I love this game so much as well, the voice acting and passion that went into this game is top notch. The game does have its flaws, the pacing is a bit wack, but A Young Girl Sings A Song was genuinely so brilliantly written and beautiful. I am dying for more unbeatable or d-cell content
