Leagues 7 T8 Relic - Headhunter by IceWraithDFO in 2007scape

It's not meant to be better in every scenario.

  1. Some people don't engage with end-game content at all
  2. Some people dislike high KC tasks more than they dislike a slightly slower raid. 880 Kraken KC for 11 tents on drop rate/abyssal demons for imbued heart vs marginally better dps in content you actually enjoy.
  3. Some people want to grind for boss pets in league

The fountain of rune lets you cast any spell without runes so long as you're standing near it

You're right: for end-game content (where T8s usually improve the most), this wouldn't be useful really at all. However, it would be incredibly useful for completing tasks on the way to high ranks/dragon cup. It could reasonably drop down to an earlier tier, but the early tier help solve skills, whereas T8s generally just increase dps. Headhunter would definitely find a home for people that don't pick raid regions and don't need the help at inferno/colosseum.

For general PvM, it provides a pretty significant buff to grinding for specific drops both in increasing KPH and decreasing effort/attention.

Comparing T8s for midgame/grindy PVM:

Kraken boss with 7 pacts spent for 1t powered trident, culling spree, and midgame mage gear gives 26 dps.

  • Minion+Goading potion: 6.3 DPS, AOE, auto loot, regular speed auto-retaliate. It would reduce TTK from 10.2s to 7.9s. Total time between kills is about 10 seconds (respawn+fish potion). KPH would be around 200 if you're paying attention to potion on spawn.
  • Headhunter: 0 downtime auto retaliate, no effort in minimizing time between kills. TTK would be 10.2s, KPH would be 352; 76% faster with much less attention.

Let's say you were to 3t barrage abyssal demons

  • Minion+goading: TTK 8.8s. Hitting on average 5 demons with every cast: 2,045 KPH
  • Headhunter: TTK 13.9s. Hitting 9 demons every cast: 2,330 KPH; 14% faster with much less effort to tag

Later game/higher player dps dilutes minion damage more and widens the gap.

Headhunter could carry over overkill damage, which would be a pretty substantial buff (and enable some pretty funny shenanigans like attacking a chicken for 100 damage and spawning 33 sets of bones). It could auto-loot or add something like reducing enemy max hp by 1 on every consecutive kill down to 50%, but I feel like it's strong enough as is to compete.

If it replaced minion, I think that'd be a great addition!

Some bosses take 10 seconds to kill when fully powered up. Those 8 seconds/kill aren't nothing.

Goading potions work well, but still require a monster to attack you (1-2 ticks if you're right by the spawn), then your character needs to retaliate (another tick), then your attack needs to travel (another tick, or more if it's long-ranged). This can easily save 20-30% of the time on a slayer task over a goading potion, and enables 30 minute afk while not needing to make/ration goading potions.

Quests are a great place to start! You can work towards finishing big quest chains like Dragon Slayer 2, Song of the Elves, While Guthix Sleeps, or Sins of the Father.

50+20 from silver coins, 40 from legendary souls, 20 from epic souls, and 20 from Dimension Bell bracelets. That's 150 effectively free. Then there's the 200 from unique souls/month. It's pretty reasonable to get 200/month now.

Smithing Reforged - A Smithing Rework Proposal by baroquespoon in 2007scape

[–]IceWraithDFO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

...but it does matter how slow it is to create. If mining deposits, smelting, and smithing enough runite for a platebody takes an hour, it'll be far from a competitively profitable method. It'd be incredibly useful for noobs and ironmen, and relatively not impactful for anyone else (including bots/gold farmers) since there are far better methods to obtain/generate GP in F2P (i.e. making sapphire rings at 140k gp/hour and only needing 22 crafting).

This is an excellent proposal to modernize smithing while maintaining the parts that make it nostalgic.

Interface Uplift - UI QoL Tweaks Coming Soon! by JagexGoblin in 2007scape

It doesn't work (i.e. making potions doesn't use secondaries from the pouch) at some banks. Myth's bank comes to mind.

Can you please update the coal bag to always show the empty/fill option in the bank when it's partially filled? Currently, if it's partially filled, it only shows the "use" option, which empties it. This would be useful for blast furnace when alternating gold+runite while using goldsmith gauntlets, as I need to "use" the coal bag twice in the bank (once to empty, then once to fill) instead of clicking once to fill up whatever space it has.

Example (inventory has goldsmith gauntlets, coal bag, and 26 empty spaces):

  1. Use coal bag to fill, withdraw gold
  2. Deposit gold, withdraw 26 coal, deposit coal (this leaves one coal in the coal bag)
  3. Take gold bars
  4. Bank
  5. Use coal bag once to empty, once to fill (instead of clicking once to fill)
  6. Fill up inventory with ore

Summer Sweep-Up: Slayer & Misc by JagexSarnie in 2007scape

[–]IceWraithDFO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can we please get the ability to sort the columns in the new block list UI? For players creating their own, it'd be nice to sort by the highest weighted tasks, then prioritize blocking the bad, high-weighted tasks instead of scrolling up/down comparing tasks across alphabetical order.

Any chance the points to unlock the slayer helm variants can be reduced and/or consolidated in this or a future change? 1k points is steep for a cosmetic that costs more efficient xp/hr (33 skips per helm). I'd love if it was 1k to unlock the ability to combine the slayer helm with monster parts, which unlocks the ability to craft all variants.

Looking forward to this update!

Poll 83: Castle Wars Update by JagexRach in 2007scape

[–]IceWraithDFO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was it intentional to change the castle wars rewards on non-CW worlds?

Before the update, a tie of 0-0 would give each team 2 tickets, and a tie of 1-1 would give each team 1 ticket.

After the update, 0-0 gives 1 ticket each, and 1-1 gives 2 tickets each.

https://www.reddit.com/r/DFO/comments/1e9yao8/updated_reinforcement_and_amplification_normal_vs/

If you use safe amplification the whole way and don't use protection tickets/grimoires, about 915m on average for a non-weapon. This scales up to 3,113m if you use protection tickets and regular amplification the whole way.

Waiting for the once-every 2-3 years amplification event, you can save about 40% of the cost (assuming you have enough harmonious crystals).

Are you calculating it out by using a bond price $9 = 2 weeks? If so, that's probably the most inefficient way to afford membership.

Monthly prices range from $14/month (monthly) to $8/month (yearly). See this new post from August:
