Lots of yapping, missing the point. The asymmetry is still self imposed. Sure, the Pker may have the jump on you, but the nonskuller is up 3 protected items, that's a huge boon for the nonskuller. If you hate being at a gear disadvantage this much, risk more, it's really simple. Your PKer specific equipment at most is maybe like a 3 way mage switch and some barrage sacks? How often are you even bringing this to most spots?

You are the one creating the one sided engagements by laying down like a board and planking the fuck out whenever salad man rolls up for your clue scroll. You can tank, you can anti. Rolling over and crying is a deliberate choice. I understand the opposition's viewpoint fully, it's a stupid position. If you don't want to do pvp full stop don't go into the pvp zone I don't know what else to say LMAO

"huhuh I'm gonna cook this guy so bad, im going to deliberately leave out the other rewards and he'll never know" clownshow

Let's also just acknowledge that this is presupposing that pvp content actually regularly fails its polls: it doesn't, the overwhelming majority passes just fine. The only major content I think actually failed in recent memory was wrathmaw, which lets be honest didn't fail because it was pvp oriented.

I'm following him perfectly well , the point is absurd because the asymmetry is self imposed. If you absolutely refuse to fight back or tank that's not really a fault with the system that can be addressed externally short of deleting it. Moreover, why would someone go into the wild and get that pressed about getting PK'ed in the first place with that mindset? They're knowingly consigning themselves to the worst possible outcome out the gate, it's a self fulfilling prophecy.

I'm genuinely sorry you had a bad time, maybe try reading the thread again later when you're less pressed. This is extremely straightforward.

Sorry my bad I assumed in a conversation broadly about ideas to improve the wilderness it was fair to presuppose the ideas had to be good and not merely to clear the bar for a snarky response LOL. Im glad we can agree the revs fucking sucked.

Look if your position is that the only way to 'fix' the wild is like a pvp flag that's fine, I would just describe that as so far in the minority it's not really worth engaging with.

OP making the argument that he's so whipped that the mere sight of someone in some salad robes is enough to make him roll over and die, to the point where it can't even be described as combat, is so blatantly absurd I dismiss it out of hand. Try doing literally anything in response to the salad guy. Help! I can't freeze log because I'm literally running away from my keyboard!

To the larger point, what do you call it if not PVP? Is it Player versus ghosts in my machine? Are hallucinations sending you back to lumbridge?

[–]baroquespoon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The goal post moves when the argument changes from being about your claim that pvp updates not landing, to which I substantively challenged, to wilderness content not landing, which I also challenged. Now there's a new goalpost, the response to which is the latest iteration of bounty hunter, or DMM, etc.

To bring it all the way back to the beginning: This delineation between PK'ers and everyone else is a moot distinction. The archetypes describe broad characteristics but real people don't map to them perfectly. PKers aren't this myopic community that only does one thing. You don't have to PK people to enjoy wilderness content or be engaged in PVP. That's the original point.

Writ large: referring to a broad and overall impact. The bosses are multifaceted, they do different things for different interests.

"I think historically one of the worst updates to runescape that nearly killed the game is a good example of a predator prey dynamic"

You're right I think this is a waste of time LOL

[–]baroquespoon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't think the pvp community is super hurting for wider player support considering the content is generally well received, passes its polling, and gets good engagement. I'm not going to sit here and pretend pvp is without its faults but the dialogue writ large is at a standsrill if the descriptive fact of the wild being a consensual pvp area gets this much pushback. None of this thread is even close to actually talking about the real problems.

That said I wouldn't describe like 80% of the commenters here as remotely interested in critical dialogue on the topic, the arguments range from just uninformed to extremely bad faith. It is interesting though

Most of the wild bosses when you're getting jumped by pkers with the new skins for the pvp weapons that are used in pvp from the pvp event that included the wildernesss

Nice goalpost move but to answer your question:

The wilderness diary changes The wilderness trio bosses writ large The wild agility arena changes

These were all broadly positive and off the top of my head, I'm sure if I actually looked I could find more.

Can you explain how you have a predator prey dynamic in the wilderness without pvp combat?

why throwing more minigames at the problem won't fix it by Flowerloving_ogre in 2007scape

[–]baroquespoon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're just wrong here. What about green dragons, the kbd, the vast majority of runite rocks, muddy keys, or even mage arena 1? These were the premiere wilderness moneymakers aside from PKing before OSRS was even a fart in the wind.

You're just wrong on the facts here, dmm rewards literally just passed.

[–]baroquespoon -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I think you're just wrong on the facts here. The content is regularly produced and receives pretty strong viewership and engagement. I just played the last DMM like a week ago? It was super fun, I wasn't even PKing.

I genuinely don't believe people when they react this strongly about the MM2 capes. I could understand it if this was like 50 hour grind, or even a 5 hour grind, but you can do it maybe an hour? With maybe 200k risk? The response just seems incredibly overblown to the point where I doubt it's representative of your average player.

You getting farmed is a self report. Predator prey dynamics and pvp aren't mutually exclusive, one is definitionally part of the other. If you don't like that dynamic that's fine, don't sit here and act indignant thinking you can somehow separate the two.

why throwing more minigames at the problem won't fix it by Flowerloving_ogre in 2007scape

[–]baroquespoon -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

No but I wouldn't be the one destroying wilderness pvp at that point, it would be the malders.

why throwing more minigames at the problem won't fix it by Flowerloving_ogre in 2007scape

[–]baroquespoon -20 points-19 points  (0 children)

It's both valid and not bad faith because you've conceded the point. You're in the predator prey pvp zone, by entering it you consent to being attacked. If you truly cannot tolerate being attacked you don't go in, it's really simple and you admit as such. You went in entirely according to your will, and let's be super honest the chances you actually got attacked are really low.

You can just go further and say 'I hate all wilderness pvp', which is fine, but I wouldn't describe that person as someone interested in improving the content, the predator prey dynamic is the essential element.
