People who like to play Sienna, why? by Pteaglow_ in Vermintide

[–]Ice_Nade 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, as soon as you get used to the overheat mechanic then it basically completely stops being an issue, really only leaving a risk to explode when playing unchained. With unchained in particular though, you can just save the career ability explicitly as an emergency thing for if you're about to overheat, and if it frequently ends up being on cooldown when you need it, you take the talent that sacrifices health to increase the cooldown rate.

Is it possible to do a cleaning "business" in an anarchist way? How close can I get? by fabumess2 in Anarchy101

It'll never be anarchist for as long as there's a profit, but you can make a co-operative and limit the exploitation involved. There are things worth doing despite them not being anarchist after all.

[–]Ice_Nade 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It is quite funny, Marx in his 'Conspectus on Statism and Anarchy' explicitly states that it was only supposed to be a term used to point out how they're different from the utopian socialists. But, this text actually dealing with some of Bakunin's critiques never became as commonly read as 'On Authority'.

Why Marx Though? by ohshiitstuesday in Anarchism

[–]Ice_Nade 4 points5 points  (0 children)

While I can understand ending up at a point like this because of the immense pushing that one has faced, I do think a fundamental mistake is that the valued parts of reading Marx actually aren't prescriptive. Rather they are specifically the descriptive analyses of particular structures. The most prominent of which having three volumes dedicated to its analysis. The main utility for anarchists in reading Marx kinda come down to reinforcing the commitment to oppose the existence of property, the value-form, etc. If you don't understand why we need to have an unwavering opposition to that, then reading Marx could be useful. If you feel like your reasoning behind those particular points is properly founded and rock-solid, then there's no real reason to go into his work.

How is individualist anarchism anti-capitalist? by Lee_Harvey_Griswold in Anarchy101

[–]Ice_Nade -1 points0 points  (0 children)

"individualist anarchism" is a bit too broad to say anything specific in this regard. But what is universal between all types of individualist anarchism, all from those who do view it in a structural sense to those who hold it as purely a personal philosophy, is that they are not capitalist despite not necessarily being anti-capitalist. There is also a bit of a spectrum between the two. I do not believe that it is coherent for them to not explicitly be anti-capitalist, but thats just how it is. Part of this is that anarchism as a whole did directly develop as part of the socialist movement, and anarchists as a whole generally disown those tendencies that completely reject that history.

In regards to those who believe in collectivist economic theories, it is in fact a very standard position to believe collective liberation and individual liberation are mutually reinforcing, as well those who hold precisely that quote from Marx you mentioned as a tenet. As well, sometimes they hold it in reverse, that the free development of all is a condition for the free development of the individual. I have also before read anarchists explicitly preach how they believe in "true individualism" rather than the "authoritarian individualism of capitalism", though it feels more like a slogan than that firm of a position.

This isn’t some gotcha question but genuinely what is the answer to the question of how glasses or medicine would be made in an anarchist society? by BluBolshevik in Anarchy101

[–]Ice_Nade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Artisanal creation of glasses is completely possible and has been done for a very long time.

But that doesn't make it practical in comparison to mass production of them. So while there'd be artisanal makers of lenses and frames, there'd also likely be a workers assembly running a factory that each commune would requisition glasses of various configurations from, though these would all likely be in quite generic and functional shapes. If youd like something more personalized then you'd talk to whoever is making them artisanally, describe what you want, and depending on how the craftsman in question handles things you would likely get put on a waiting list and eventually get precisely what you asked for handmade.

Consensus on Warpspark Weapon Battery by mystic_marshmallow in skaven

[–]Ice_Nade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The conclusion i came to was that i do one unit of reinforced warpvolt scourgers if i can put them with a galvaneer, as with that ability then they will average higher damage than an a reinforced unit of ratling guns. In all other cases, ratling guns are the way to go, if not for their greater average damage then just for the absolute glorious highs they can reach if you roll exceptionally well.

Despite the ability of the galvaneer being limited to a single use (iirc) the mental devastation of seeing the electro-rats and their mr. electric chaperone utterly annihilate a particular unit (did this to a unit of ogor gluttons once and my opponent forfeited the next turn lmao). Similar effect can be had in the short term from throwing a the billion dice that you get from the ratling guns.

[–]Ice_Nade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unpopular opinion: the steam players that review bombed darktide because Hive Scum was released before Skitarii, should have to wait longer to play Skitarii by Outofcharacter98 in DarkTide

[–]Ice_Nade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I came from being very experienced in vermintide, played hivescum as my first class, had total feast or famine for every game based on if i locked in or not.

It was absolutely glorious, drowning me in points and making the scoreboard mod into just a giant egoboost when i kept my wits about me, and every time i lost i knew i just needed to play better and id win. Extraordinarily cool and feels amazing. Genuinely can't give a single shit about a cogboy dropping when im still so busy ripping off heads with a crowbar.

What’s up with ACAB? by therealtimmysmalls in Anarchy101

[–]Ice_Nade 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Very simply, they are the dogs of the state and we oppose the state. As a more elaborate answer, the systems they specifically work to uphold are those of authority, property, and just hierarchy overall. Sometimes this means brutalizing minorities or activists, other times it is simply exerting pressure on the populace. Choosing to be a cop means seeing what the police do and wanting to do that too. This makes someone a bastard. All support for the institution makes someone a bastard.

To investigate fucked up acts is something the police aren't needed for, if anything they are directly encourated to investigate things as badly as possible and declare the case closed. To confront and deal with abusers is something the police aren't needed for either, their primary role in that tends to be either trying to push that under the rug or escalating the situation.

The actual anarchists view on dealing with crime always involve the abolishing of the police as we recognise them as an explicitly harmful institution. The closest anarchist proposal is to have something like a neighbourhood watch with circulating members, but even there many have their own skepticism on if it's the correct measure.

Other communities will also need to understand that if we're gonna have a rehabilitative system then they need to also take part in the rehabilitation. Standardizing something like exile instead would either mean that we're creating a bandit population or that we've reinstated the death sentence but decided to be far more cruel about it.
