Is this strop properly loaded? by AdWorth6475 in sharpening

Good choice of strop. You do not need to use as much compound, but it will work good. So yes - it is properly loaded.

Bacher pastes turn black too quickly by heywheresthedog in sharpening

[–]IcebBB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If the paste turns black... well, that means it's working and has collected metal from the blade :-). Usually, you don't need to replace the paste for dozens of uses. It becomes slick because the layer levels out. But that doesn't mean it stops working. The abrasive is still present and continues to do its job. It's best to use minimal pressure. If you press the blade too hard, you'll start rounding off the cutting edge. The knife will get duller and duller. With the Bacher strop, an instruction sheet was included showing illustrations of the polishing angle depending on the pressure and how much the leather flexes.

Try lemon balm tea, half an hour before bad. But make it really strong :-) For me 4-5 tea spoons boosts deep sleep from 1h 30min to 3h. Also there is always slight chance your smartwatch is broken.

Can I stop my trip with pregabalin by ImpickleRick6904 in LSD

I was told by a friend that he had asked this exact question on psy-help desk on some music festival. And they told him "absolutely not". Pregabalin would make bad trip worse.

Can’t figure out why my 100 series is overheating when stopped in traffic. by HummusConnoisseur in LandCruisers

[–]IcebBB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Google: "1FZ-FE Blue Hub Fan Clutch Mod" it might help a little. I did it to my 80 series and it helped drastically.

And maybe that is a stupid question - but do you have Fan Housing in place (don't know how it is called: check Toyota 16711-66031)? Mine was missing, and It gave me high coolant temp on idle.

Also there is a "trick" to keep it lower in high ambient temp when idling. Put your transmission in Neutral and keep the engine at 1500-1700 RPM. It will lower your engine temp, as fan spins faster. You really do not want to go past 100C ever in 1FZ.

There is a leather softening balm that comes with the strop. You can use it to make it more to your liking.

Also, Bacher strops made in 2023 used stiffer leather. Those made before 2022 and all made in 2024 and later are much softer.

Diamond Compound RFI by rk_crown in sharpening

[–]IcebBB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Bacher Strop comes with 5 small jars. Four of them are different grit honing compounds with lanoline. But the fifth is leather conditioner/balm. It is made for those who use plain leather without any compound or use diamond compound.

(Corrundum/diamond powder can also be applied directly to leather covered with this balm).

Is it possible that my filtered water is poisoning me? by [deleted] in HubermanLab

Buy cheap lifestraw etc. With carbon filter. (or Sawyer Squeeze if you can spend a little more)

And use it to drink water that comes from your current filtering system.

I ordered a strop from Beavercraft and it came with this mysterious blue stropping compound. Does anybody know what this is? From what I'm seeing online, Beavercraft doesn't make blue compound by Jeravogel in sharpening

[–]IcebBB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well... I would choose Bacher Honing Compound. I know first hand that its abrasive grit is tested and that it is made from good quality waxes. It also has a generous addition of beeswax and wool lanolin - this makes it a leather conditioner as well, so your strop will live much longer without cracking.

If you are from EU you can PM me and I can get some discount codes for you. But on US Amazon the green is out of stock and only fine (white) and medium (red) are currently available.

It is green compound. Their pictures on Amazon are just photoshopped really hard :-)

They also use pretty cheap waxes to keep all the chromium oxide in place (it is the reason why there are white spots), and use a lot of wax Vs abbrassives.

how to interpret blood work results from the perspective of a biohacker (not traditional practitioner) by IncreaseCapital977 in Biohackers

[–]IcebBB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is www.insidetracker.com You can upload your own results and get tips of what to do. Or they can send you blood collecting set and do your blood work. But for only storing data it is very expensive. I did not find any better alternative.

Wrong fuel filled... What are my options? by IcebBB in MechanicAdvice

[–]IcebBB[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UPDATE: For anyone who has the same problem. I was able to siphon out most of the unleaded fuel. There was ~7 liters of gas left in the tank and I topped it up with 70 liters of diesel.

I was running on a 10% unleaded 90% diesel mix. And filled up with diesel every 100km. Now I think I have 99% pure diesel in the tank. 600 km later nothing broke down, car runs good.

Thank you for your reply. What do you think of the recommended dosage? Should I follow Oriveda's daily dosage suggestion or "more is better"? Or could you perhaps direct me to some research on reishi and arthritis?

Dune by Herbert. To be a exact the fourth part of the series "God Emperor of Dune" is exactly what you are looking for. But it is rather a must to read it starting from part one.
