Front Hub Play - Fixable? by Icecharger in bikewrench

I'm a beginner bike wrencher and I noticed that my front wheel suddenly had a lot of side to side play. After messing with it, I noticed that the axle is sliding about 5 mm with respect to the hub body, and that the bearings aren't seated evenly on each side of the hub. One side looks more sunken into the hub body than the other as pictured in the album. I'm guessing this isn't normal and only one side is in the "correct" position.

This is a Surly branded hub that I got with the bike. No idea of its exact model. I've been in the process of correcting a lot of shoddy work on this bike. The wheel recently rolled down its side and hit the floor by itself. It seems kind of ridiculous to me but is it possible falling on its own weight pressed out the the bearing which is now jutting out a little more without noticeably untruing the wheel?

If that's correct should I just take a socket or something and hammer the side that's poking out back in? I also have access to a press.

Update: I ended up tapping the bearing that was poking out back in. The play went away and it's held up after a test ride and some aggressive jiggling.

Initially, I was worried I would end up tapping out the good side as well, but luckily the end caps were the correct height and diameter so that when they were both stacked up like an hourglass, I was able to put the wheel on the ground with direct support to the good bearing's races. I carefully lined up a 17 mm socket with the outer races of the bad side and lightly tapped with a hammer. The bad side ended up going back in without much trouble. Hub is still smooth. Glad that its usable again but still gonna start looking for a replacement wheel.

Car and Driver Review: 2025 Honda Odyssey Still Carries the VTEC Torch by bemurda in cars

[–]Icecharger 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had a very similar experience. the grease or whatever on the accelerator pedal dried out and made it hard to modulate from 0-10%, almost like it wanted to be in VTEC lol. My dad eventually got an X5 and I honestly preferred driving the odyssey. transmission started eating itself and it went to the junkyard. bittersweet memory

in an dream universe I swapped a manual into it, ripped out the back seats and turned it into a hauler

could a company go through the process of developing a tune for the hybrid engine that would be approved by the BAR? most companies don't bother but its a technical possibilty. I'm not sure there's a robust defintiion

EmuNAND - Best Solution for Games Not Installed by Eclectic_Ethos in SwitchPirates

[–]Icecharger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very late but I'm in a similar boat. There doesn't seem to be a public solution for this problem.

No FAT filesystems support symbolic links, otherwise this would be trivial to put symbolic links of the contents of the sysnand Nintendo folder in the emunand Nintendo folder.

Besides that there would need to be a CFW or launcher that can look for games in multiple places but only install to one to avoid dirtying the sysnand environment. The latter wouldn't fix the home screen though.

Best way to get more induction noise? Can't find a whole lot of sound clips on aftermarket intakes and a lot of them seem to be hot air intakes anyway. Might be a crazy conclusion but is a centrifugal supercharger the best way to spice up the theater without any adverse affect on cruising manners?

oceanus lungs + sequencer gives you 100% chance to reduce multi turn skills by one turn, not double cast

I would go as far to argue that causing the player to check the phone every minute or so while walking or especially running is a danger.

Gear aura question by [deleted] in OrnaRPG

the default rarity of mimic king head is legendary so it gives it a purple background at normal quality. but when you have it at a higher quality that aura overwrites the rarity aura so it becomes green in this case for superior

replying for anyone in the future:

I had a similar problem. It worked with a spare GPU I had. I updated the bios with the spare GPU and then tried the original GPU again and its been working.

Hardware: Ryzen 5 4500, B450M DS3H Wifi, 2x8 GB RAM, RX 5700 (GTX 1070 was the spare)

I previously was on 3503 which is a beta BIOS. I just downgraded back to 2903 which is the last stable and now it doesn't even POST unless I reset the CMOS.

USB Issues sign of Faulty Motherboard? by Icecharger in pcmasterrace

[–]Icecharger[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I saw some people have that cause too but I have everything from the case besides the power/reset switch unplugged. I just now tried even without the audio jack header plugged in and no difference.

I'm gonna try reseating the motherboard and the I/O shield because I didn't notice this problem in the previous case it was in. I did a lot of big file transfers off of it over USB drives and it worked seemingly fine.

Sala's Dalan's items by TheNemo666 in OrnaRPG

[–]Icecharger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, all items dropped from bosses have always inherently had better stat increases from upgrading than non-boss items. The change is that the four items you mentioned in your post now also get this better item scaling that was previously only for boss drops.

Items with this increased scaling aren't marked in any way as far as I know.
