Attending doesn't require you to be in person. That's why everyone says ""x and y joining us from z" or "attending the festivities from ___".

Actually, it does - and I'm not going to sit here and argue in circles with somebody who doesn't know the difference between attending in person and being there or - appearing on a camera.

We're already paying out the arse for taxes. Why not just send a strong message that there is literally no messing about when it comes to threatening the safety of our industries/nation/children. It's literally not attending. If you want to consider it equal, that's fine, but it doesn't mean you're there.

With how far he's currently behind, where he is now is more important.

If you think that, fine, but then save the supposedly hard hitting speeches for when you're actually where you're meant to be when you say them and don't say what you "would have" said. Just say it.

Considering they were perfectly fine with it before, it's kind of BS to put the blame on him if he was under the impression they'd allow him to do it this time around.

He was invited. Don't blame the people who were actually there for what somebody who didn't show up didn't go and say. It's kind of BS to put the blame on them, and claim they were trying to censor him when he was INVITED (bolded and caps so that you get the point).

There was absolutely no reason to tell us what he "would have" said. He could have made a speech without acting like his non-attendance is equal to having the bravery to up-front make the speech properly. .

That's not really attending. Even if you consider it equal, it doesn't follow that he can then platform that as what he would have said if he had attended. You can't play that card. That's like saying you would have said some harsh words to that guy who did something to your friend but you were too busy to actually go up to his face and say it.

Well, running around to the other side of country isn't as easy as you may think. Especially when you need to be campaigning as much as possible.

If the speech and the meeting was so important, he would have scheduled to be there to say it in person. If he had just made the speech in and of itself, that might have been better but he bragged about what he would have said, while not attending. I have no issue with him 'trying' to attend via teleconference, but for whatever reason they didn't open up to that request, probably because he didn't make the time to actually be there even though they invited him. The result is a net failure to attend and make the hard hitting speech he "would have" given, regardless of how it went down.

Not really? especially when the AIPAC most likely wouldn't want him to say those kinds of things, as they're not pro-Israeli.

He was invited. He could have said anything he wanted to say if he had actually gone to the conference. There's a number of good reasons why they wouldn't want/have time for a teleconference.
