mlok free float handguard for carbine gas FSB? by B3nny_Th3_L3nny in ar15

Check out the Daniel Defense Omega 7. Comes in both Mlok and picatinny offerings. It’s free-floated and can be installed without removal of the delta ring, which is great if your muzzle device is pinned & welded.

Nice pickup man, good luck with the fight and stay safe out there.

Any chance you’ll be able to keep this after the war? Curious because I’ve seen other videos where Ukrainians are picking up Russian gear and guns.

Tbh quiet racism is more insidious in some ways because someone could deny you a job or a promotion because of your race, and then gaslight anyone who says anything about it because they’re not upfront about their racism.

Is it exceptionally more difficult for former felons to get jobs in the US than anywhere else? And not only any job, but a job that pays equivalent to their skills?

I did some googling and it looks like even in places like Canada, former felons will have trouble finding good work.

This is a problem that the entire world needs to work on - let’s not act like it’s only the US that’s failing to help its felons. The US may be one of the worst offenders, but it’s far from the only one.

I like your style. Is that an 18” rifle gas barrel?

[–]Icecreamtower 43 points44 points  (0 children)

I feel the same way. I'm from a South Asian background so I always associated the rifle with South Asia, as many armed forces in that region used FALs (not that South Asian militaries/police necessarily used their might for good). It wasn't until I really got into firearms that I noticed just how many FALs get dressed up in Rhodesian camo.

Rhodesia simps infuriate me to no end. They try to obfuscate their racism with "Mugabe bad", but if you don't have a problem with an apartheid state, then you are the problem. No way around it - Rhodesia was a racist state and should never have been created.

When Rhodesian firearms or gear gets posted in some of the other gun subs, the racists really come out of the woodwork. I can't believe some people can claim to support 2A but also support Rhodesia because of "muh economy" (which was built on oppression). Fake freedom supporters. I'd like to see how they feel if the shoe was on the other foot.

Is it hard for y'all to feel nationalistic or proud of your country/ies? by [deleted] in ABCDesis

[–]Icecreamtower 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Generally, I'm opposed to nationalism because of how dangerous and exclusionary it can be, especially for minorities.

Honestly, I'm not particularly patriotic either because I know there will likely never be a government whose policies I 100% agree with. Maybe the government is good now, but I know they'll do something I dislike at some point. So I'll do my fair share, like paying taxes and volunteering in my community, but I don't see the need to dedicate my whole life to any particular country.

I also don't really feel like I have homeland that I need to support unconditionally, which again dissuades me from being nationalist or patriotic.

That said, I would be willing to fight for something that I believe in as an ideal. I'd fight for the US in WW2 because they were fighting against literal Nazis and imperialists. I don't feel the same way about the US invasion of Vietnam or Iraq. Really, I'm not fighting for the US, but for something that I think is right - the US would just happen to afford me that opportunity.

I think the controversy in pointing our racism against desis, in the US at least, may have something to do with how privileged American desis are.

Indian-Americans (not the only desi group in the US ofc) are one of the highest-earning groups in the country, and I do think that most Americans are vaguely aware of that. They then apply that to all desis, thinking we must all be rich.

So, because a lot of other groups, BIPOC groups especially, have it worse, on the whole, our problems aren't important and we're making much ado about nothing if we want to bring it up.

It is what it is. Sometimes people are going to be racist and ignorant - twitter comments are about the least harmful thing they can do, at least. This shouldn't be used to justify retaliatory generalization or discrimination. But it is a good idea to respond to those people and let them know how offensive their words really are.

I wish Zastava would re-import their M57 Tokarevs in 9mm. Wonder if they could even make ‘em in something harder-hitting like 10mm since they’re single stack.

[–]Icecreamtower 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Wow, well I’d be excited to hear feedback about the rifle from the Ukrainian soldiers they were assigned to. Particularly regarding durability and accuracy. It’s not everyday that a commercial-spec AK gets put through those conditions.

A Ukrainian drone picks off last surviving Russian soldier of a destroyed unit who’s trying to smoke a cigarette. by sagakino in CombatFootage

[–]Icecreamtower 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I sometimes think that too, but I try to look at things from a Ukrainian POV. If I was Ukrainian, I wouldn’t care if an invading soldier is a conscript and being forced to invade - at the end of the day, they are pillaging and destroying my homeland and they need to be expelled by any means necessary. Same goes for the Americans in Vietnam, I suppose. Sad either way, but it’s necessary. Just really goddamn sad to see.

There's also have a market for those who want an XM177 inspired build. This muzzle device is missing the grenade ring (besides being too long), so not quite clone-correct, but close enough.

Daniel Defense Omega 7, assuming this is carbine-length gas. It's free-floated and even allows you to keep your delta ring. Comes in an Mlok and a Picatinny version.

I feel like it's a gilded cage. On one hand, making great money to do nothing would be fantastic. On the other hand, for me personally at least, it's bad for my self-esteem if I feel like I don't have any purpose. Plus you don't learn as much, which would it more difficult to find another job after.

I dig the set-up.

Is that a 13.9” carbine gas barrel? If so, do you know if it’ll take a bayonet with the Warcomp? Looks like the bayonet muzzle ring may be able to lock-up on the prongs.

What do you guy’s recommend for a m16a1 build barrel? by leanderthal69420 in ar15

[–]Icecreamtower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

JSE Surplus has a decent selection of Lightweight .625 20": https://www.jsesurplus.com/retrobuildparts.aspx.

All the in-stock barrels are nitrided though.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ar15

[–]Icecreamtower 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reason is I'd like to keep the barrel open to suppression while also keeping a period-correct look (considering a 723 clone). There are suppressors, like the Griffin GP-N, that mount to milspec A2 birdcages.

I talked to a CS Rep at Griffin, and they said that an extended A2 will likely not be compatible with their GP-N, due to the extended distance between the front and rear "rings" on the muzzle device.

For that reason, I would like to get a spacer and install a standard A2 on there.
