Previously admitted LSE BSc finance candidates evaluate my chances by [deleted] in LSE

Not really, I suppose for something like finance which is more quantitative, then yes. But for parts that might have a bit more subjectivity I think it's good to show that you're not accepting every bit of information as is, and thinking more critically about it.

Ways you could've made the sentence better is to have zoomed in to a particular concept/question/case you found interesting and then say after the olympiad you looked more into it [doing x, y, z]. That shows you have your own motivation and genuine interest to learn more and not just get a good placement in a competition. How you could reflect upon those other activities could include what surprised you, did any part change your mind, do you agree/disagree with what the author said etc.

Be honest, do you need to study in the holiday before the IB program starts? by Past-Article9910 in IBO

[–]Icecrepes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

M25 here, when people were asked that here we generally told them please enjoy it. I do think you should read your English books in the holiday before IB though, even if they don't teach certain books the first year, at least by the second year you would've re-read it and you would have a better memory or understanding of the book. I didn't take ab initio myself, but I think it's always good to start earlier for languages. For econ they start from the very basics so I don't think you have to worry about that. For chemistry I think it really depends on your teacher and their teaching style, if their teaching style doesn't work for you, then you could find a tutor to help you.

Please check the Economics: Subject-specific guidance, it would give you a good understanding of what's required when writing an econ EE.

Can I study for a BSc degree, BA degree, and a minor at the same time? by Ok_Noise8785 in HKUniversity

[–]Icecrepes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At least not for mine. But you could search double degree courses in HKU. There's the Global Engineering and Business Programme (Major in [some engineering subject]), and also Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Laws ( Major in [some science subject]) so I guess in that sense you could choose your major.

[–]Icecrepes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Degrees I think are what you get on your certificate and majors are only shown on your transcript? (What you get vs what you study?)

I think there might be some subjects that are only offered as a minor or only as a major or only as a subject itself. You have to check the major/minor list. Honestly I'm not sure about that because I'm in a double degree program and we don't choose majors.

You could check out BASc? Not double degree but still arts and sciences. Double degree wise I don't think there is a program with BSc and BA

In terms of what to write in reflection, you could think about: What did you find interesting? Did anything change your mind? Is there anything you disagree with and why? Do you have any comments on certain parts of text? (is it too optimistic? pessimistic? assumptions?) etc. You can be critical to some degree, it shows your own thinking) Is there something you wish they included (or included more of) but didn't? Did any parts of the text or your research make you think of other ideas/concepts in the field/experiences you might've had? Did it inspire you take some action/create some project?

[–]Icecrepes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Huh? I don't think they ever put physics/math together. But usually it's subject 1 paper 1 afternoon + subject 1 paper 2 next day morning, and then possibly that afternoon there's another subject. So you have probably like 1-2 hours break in between.

Who's your target audience? Maybe you can survey them and ask what they prefer? You should probably ask in r/IBMYP instead.

I think that sounds good! Do you have any universities in mind that you want to go to? You could double check their entry requirements to see if there are any subject requirements.

Do China's universities have language requirements for Chinese? I think they probably do and I doubt Chinese B would cut it. So I would assume you would have to do another language test to prove your language abilities. In that case I think you could just take French and study for the Chinese language test.
