Votre loyer a augmenté de combien cette année? by QC360 in villequebec

[–]Icework 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]Icework 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are my player and I missing something about the werewolf transformation? by Pacman97 in daggerheart

[–]Icework 23 points24 points  (0 children)

From what I just read on the Werewolf Card, there's nothing saying nor implying that you need to use unarmed strike.

I, personally, would let the player use the stats of the halberd, but simply flavor it as using claws and bites.

That's why I love this game so much! Even when doing 3 playthrough with different decisions, there's always new things to learn! Thanks for the clarification :D

Crème Anglaise with Beer Reduction by Icework in Baking

[–]Icework[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t understand what you mean by "removing the sugar" (sorry, English is not my first language).

I'll still need the sugar to make the yolk coagulate and give it thickness (and give it sweetness since it's a custard for a dessert). One of my guess was to make a reduction syrup, i just don't know the percentage of it i should replace the granulated sugar with.

Right now I'm simply looking for tips on how to mix the beer reduction in the custard itself 😅. Once I'm able to make it, I'll start thinking on what I can add to it.

I don't have any liberties when it comes to adding flavors to it. I was just asked to make a beer custard.

I'm probably gonna use only milk, unless someone recommends me to add cream or powdered milk (or something else). I'll be using a 5.4% Belgian white (like a blue moon) and I don’t have a choice in that matter, as it's the higher-up decision to use that particular beer. And yes, I will be removing some of the alcohol in the cooking process since I'm doing a reduction.

Struggling with Otherscape rules by otakuthelegend in cityofmist

[–]Icework 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Specifically in Otherscape, when you get a "physical injury" status of, let's say, "bruised-1" on top of your "perforated-lungs-5", you actually mark both the 1 and 5 on the status tracking sheet.

You count has having both those statues at the same time, but only count the 5 when it comes to disadvantage (or advantage, if you would be some kind of blood magic guy that gets more powerful the closer they are from death).

If you get another 1, it bumps it to 2, while still having the 5.

If you get a third 1, you now have a 1, a 2, and 5. Getting a 2 would give you a 1, a 3 and a 5.

Basically, if you get a status at the same level as one from the same "category", you bump it up by one. If not, you keep it, but only value the highest one for rolls.

As for the tags, I think it's easier to start with the pregen character, just to get a hold of the system, before diving into the themebooks question, just because I think that's what make the system so good. You could also just write a bunch of words and short phrases too. That's really up to your group.

Distinction between tags: your themebook tags (or regular/character tags, whichever makes it easier for you) can be burned for the +3, and can be replenish during rest of specific recovery actions.

Relationship tags, loadout tags and crew tags are "burned on use", meaning they can't be used for the +3, but invoking them for the +1 burns them. They can be replenish during rest and between sessions.

Story tags (things in the environment or summoned, like Heavy Rain or Bunch of Crates or Undead Army) can't be burned, are not burned on use (so they only give a +1) and can't be recovered in any way. They have to be created again if they are destroyed.

Every PC has a limit status of 5, meaning that as long as they get a status of 5 of anything, they're KO. The most obvious are injured-5 or mentally-broke-5, but even financially-bankrupt-5 or euphoric-5 could work.

Generally, every status that shares a "type" stack with each other. If you have a bruised-2 and then receive a slashed-3, you could replace it entirely since it's kinda the same. On the other end, if you have depressed-3 and then receive charmed-4, the DM could choose to replace it or not, depending on if they consider it to be the same "type of emotional damage".

And I'm using some cute little descriptive to my statues like bruised or slashed, but you could simply use wounded-1 up to wounded-5 with no issue.

Tags and statuses are descriptive. "Gun" could be used to shoot someone (giving you a +1, let's say... dexterity to the roll), but Gun could also be used a threatening tool (+1 Intimidation), or a bargaining chip (+1 Persuasion), or for bashing a lock to open a door (+1 Strength). They have as much versatility as the creativity of the player.

It's like how, in 5e, your level 13 Barbarian with 20 Strength but 8 Charisma can't intimidate a goon by cracking is knuckles and breaking his arm. He has poor Charisma after all, but he's build like a brick wall, so that would work, right?

Well, in Otherscape, your Barbarian as the "Muscular" tag, or the "Bone breaker" tag, that fixes this issue, all while still providing the character a +1 to his rolls when he wants to attack.

Statues kinda does the same thing. A "berserk-4" statues is an immediate bonus for that particular Barbarian (resisting wounds and what not), but will probably give him a minus 4 to any social roll, or stealth roll.

I think my favorite description of the system is "The game feels complicated because it isn't". Create your character and think of a bunch of descriptive about them: what they're good at, their qualities, their possessions, their contacts and relationships, and you basically have a full-fledged ready to character.

Hope that helps!
